A part of me wants to dwell on placing blame, on shouting at every leftist and so-called progressive who refused to vote for Harris. But that's not useful right now.

How I feel those who refused to vote for Harris is immaterial, as is how they feel about their own votes (or lack thereof). I hope instead that they have learned their lesson, as some of them actually may not have even after 2016.

More than that, I hope that there will still be a chance for them learning their lesson to be useful.


Enough of this for now; I need to go digging for some hope.

Okay, so back in the day, there was an LJ community dedicated to a first-run anime FMA AU where Roy from another universe (possibly the movie universe?) made it to the canon universe. And lots of fun was had with that, but it mostly stayed a similar rating and level of romance to canon. Which, considering this is fandom, people wanted to play with. So then came an offshoot community, houseofsmex, which had a fivesome between Roy, AU!Roy (Masuta Ichiro), Hawkeye, Ed, and Al. I wrote some fics for that AU. I am now moving them here, because I never cross-posted them to my original LJ account, and thus they never migrated over to this account. I'll be replicating the community's original labels, most (if not all of) my original author's notes, and we'll see what else.

Phew! Okay, I think that's everything. And that should be all of the fics I left behind on LJ, minus maybe one that's in the comments of a friend's locked account. I'm pretty sure I could recreate that one in a hurry, though; it was pretty short, and I remember the punchline 😛

I noticed shortly after making my first corn-filled hot-and-cold packs that mice love them. They also love being in our nice, cozy house in the winter!

After having more than a few hot-and-cold sacks ruined by mice, I decided to fix this by getting a big plastic tub to keep my extra sacks and unused corn in. This worked pretty great! For a while.

Today, I was planning to make some new corn sacks to hand out at work, since it's practically an annual tradition for me at this point. Only it looks like I'm going to have to break tradition (no big loss for me, TBH) because one or more mice has managed to wriggle in between the top and bottom of the plastic container. The three ready-made corn sacks I have stored in there, for a miracle, aren't chewed on; the bottom compartment is just soaked in mouse pee 😑 And there's soooooo much mouse poop. I don't even trust the corn that's remaining in the (presumably waterproof) bag that I bought it in.

So, upcoming tasks:

Dump the presumably bad corn in the yard waste bin

Get rid of or viciously clean out the plastic bin the corn was in

Brainstorm a new way to protect corn

Set mouse traps

Cry a little to myself over lost efforts

Pick myself up and start again

Not necessarily in that exact order.

Just ordered myself a new phone, partly as a graduation gift to myself (thank you, aunt who sent me a check for $100!), and partly because, after more than four-and-a-half years, my current phone is getting a bit buggy. I went super-ultra-budget and got a model that's effectively two years out of date, so I saved a fair amount of money there while still getting a product I'm fairly certain I can be happy with.

My current phone still works reasonably well, but it has a tendency to freeze up from time to time that requires a hard restart to fix—a tendency that's becoming more frequent. The Otter Box phone case I got at the same time is also starting to deteriorate, whereas the area over the power button has been pressed so often that you can barely tell there was ever a button representation there in the first place. So I think it might be time anyway 😅 (I'm about four months short of five years with my current phone, I'm pretty sure I beat the average phone trade-in time with room to spare.)

A part of me is still a bit freaked out, because my phone isn't actually broken yet, and also $129 plus other expenses for a new phone case and screen protector aren't exactly a drop in the bucket for me at the moment, but like. I'm still pretty sure it's time.

The metaphorical devil on my shoulder: "You know, you don't have to do that final paper for Intro to Human Services. You've got enough extra credit to cover 30% of it, and that'll probably be enough to keep your grade in the low 'A's. And even if it's not, would a 'B' really be so bad?"

Me: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, I did not go through two semesters doing every piece of homework assigned to fail at the final stretch, I am doing this shit, even if I only manage the bare minimum!"

Metaphorical devil on my shoulder: "Okay, jeez, lighten up! It was just a suggestion!"

Me: *already ignoring the devil and refocusing on the paper*

Edit: Paper completed and submitted! With this, I have officially done all graded homework for my back-to-school career. I am very proud of myself.
