Fannish stuff (a lot of Top Gear/James May) on tumblr: http://slash-girl.tumblr.com/
Fanfic page on AO3 (I'll also post my fic here, too): http://archiveofourown.org/users/slashgirl
Twitter, infrequently updated: https://twitter.com/slashgirl (feel free to follow me)
I am on fb, but that's mostly for me to keep up with the family....
I think that's pretty much it.... I do miss the old days of LJ. Now, it really feels like a ghost town. :(

not really a tumblr thing...
6/8/14 22:17Was at the local (ie 20 min drive away, but then everything's a drive for me, the joys of rural life) indy bookstore today to pick up the remainder of an order for one of my schools. It was left over from the spring and the owner had called to ask if I still wanted the books last week...and I forgot until today. I went to high school with the woman who owns the store, we'll call her Jane--she was a couple years ahead of me...we weren't friends but knew of one another. (It helped/didn't help that my parents owned a corner store, so pretty much everyone knew who I was by senior high--our HS had grades 8-12). I also had a HUGE crush on her now husband, who we'll call John (who was her boyfriend off and on during HS, too) but nothing ever happened cus I was a fat girl. Still am. And he knew I had crush on him at the time.
You can prolly guess where this is going. John was at the store today, fixing the front door (he and his brothers run a construction company, soooo...and his father owned lots of properties that I'm sure the bros. company owns now. They are not a moniless family by any stretch.) Anyhow, Jane's always been nice to me since she started working at the bookstore (several years before she bought it)...I'd not really seen John a lot--just at the mall once in a while, things like that. (We live in different..."towns" but most people around here go tot he same places to shop--again the joys of rural life.)
I was finishing up my transaction for the books (Jane had gone out back to have her lunch, so another clerk was waiting on me). John paused on his way out and actually spoke to me. TBH, I hardly spoke to him when we were in HS, so I was a bit surprised. But it's been like 25 years since I graduated, so, I guess. Anyhow, just usual chitchat with someone you haven't really seen in decades...found out his parents are both still alive and his father is 86 and his mother is 90!! John's 45--he's the youngest, by about 10 years, of 8 kids...that one they call the "surprise". LOL
But yanno, even after 25 years? I still think he's a fine looking man. Yeah, he's put on some weight and filled out a bit, but yeah, he's still got a fair bit of whatever it was I liked when I was a teenager. *g* It made my day just a little bit odd (in a good way), though, seeing him and talking to him.

The ones I'd really like to do are all over the card...I may go for the blackout, though there are a few I'm having a rather hard time with. But I've already had ideas for a few of the prompts.
Hmm, seems I cannot write slash about a guy that I've been emailing with in regards to a vid I was editing for him. (He's got a minor role on non-fictional tv--no, I don't mean reality tv, either, is more behind the scenes than anything...and some internets stuff.) I think it might be because I've seen behind the character he projects (on the show he plays a clueless sorta guy and he isn't really--except maybe when it comes to women, but he's under 30, so, to be expected). And it's not that I'm creeped out, I just can't write it; I don't think I'd have the same issue if he were playing a totally fictional character. Interesting how the brian works.
I do know I need to go to bed, haven't had much sleep the last couple nights.

19/5/13 19:55Well. Yahoo is buying tumblr--apparently it's a done deal and the announcement will be tomorrow. The article I read said tumblr will operate as an "independant website".
I just LOVE all the people on the tumblr tag saying this isn't going to change anything, tumblr will still be the same. hahahahahahahahaha <--bitter laughter. Okay, been through this shit before (hello, LJ) and honestly. Yahoo is going to spend a billion dollars and not do anything to get that money back. Yeah, sure, kids, tell yourselves what you need to sleep at night. That added to the fact that pretty much anything Yahoo touches DIES.
Tumblr wasn't perfect, but I could deal with it most days... maybe I'll be wrong, but I'm too old and jaded to put any faith that we aren't gonna be fucked over.
I wonder where folks will go now?

Margaret Thatcher has died. I knew of her, of course, being a child/teen during her years in office, but didn't realise just how badly she'd fucked the UK over nor her enduring legacy.
A legacy I feel has come down to many in the western world today; I can see it in the US republicans and in our own Conservative gov't here in Canada. (I'm sorry, they are not MY gov't; I have not and will never vote for them.) Hell, Brian Mulroney was an early disciple of hers. Protect the rich and fuck the poor. And do it all off the backs of the middle class.
Annette Funicello died today as well. She was an original Disney Mouseketeer and also starred in the beach movies with Frankie Avalon. From all accounts she was a very nice person.
I also found out today that Winston Rekert died in September(!!) from cancer. He was a Canadian actor and I enjoyed him in both Adderly and Neon Rider. He was only 63. :(
Yeah. Not a happy day.

Books for 2012
31/12/12 10:37Am going to try and keep track of what I read this year. And to try and read more.
This book is overdue! : how librarians and cybrarians can save us all Johnson, Marilyn
Blink : the power of thinking without thinking Gladwell, Malcolm
You and your future : your signs, your in-depth personality patterns, your 40-year horoscopes Nicols, Georgia
The Witch of Babylon by D.J. McIntosh
The Gunslinger by Stephen King (re-reading the first few in the series to see if I like it better than I did many years ago)
The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
Lemuria and Atlantis : studying the past to survive the future by Shirley Andrews
Why do we say it? (Randomly read bits but as there's no author or footnotes, I doubt it's reliability).
10,000 quiz challenge (didn't make it through all 10,000 quizzes though)
Paranormal : my life in pursuit of the afterlife by Raymond Moody (autobiography)
Planet Word by JP Davidson (foreward by Stephen Fry); based on Fry's series of the same name (29/03/12)
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

According to this quick bit, the creator of CM, Jeff Davis, had planned Reid to be bisexual.
Although how his having a crush on JJ would stop that storyline, I'm not really sure, perhaps the "push" from the execs. Of course, iirc, Davis wasn't actually involved much beyond the creation of the show, so.... *shrug*
Anyhow, it's now my mental canon. :D
