I know I have some vidders on my readlist, but I don't think you're all also [community profile] femslashex participants. We're just gearing up for the 2018 round now, and we're adding vids as a medium that can be requested. There's a question post up here asking for feedback on minimum lengths, handling anon posting, and what's useful for vid prompts (as opposed to fic prompts), and anything else we might not have thought of.

We'd love to hear from more vidders if anyone's interested in dropping by. Or joining us this year, if adding vids might open up the exchange as an option for you then we'd love to have you! Promoting the question post to any relevant people you know would also be awesome and super appreciated, of course.

Between sickness and impending houseguest I barely scratched the surface of the archive before author reveals, so if you're in the same boat you should totally come slowly catch up read with me post-reveals instead. There is some awesome things in there. I wrote:

Going Easy (1355 words) by shopfront
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Wolf 359 (Radio)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Relationships: Isabel Lovelace/Renée Minkowski
Characters: Doug Eiffel, Alexander Hilbert, Hera (Wolf 359)
Additional Tags: Sparring, Flirting, Tension, Missing Scene
Summary: Minkowski and Lovelace aren't enemies, exactly. But they're not friends either, and it seems prudent that they find a way to work together better - even if it involves a little bloodshed.

I actually ended up diving into a new fandom post-matching this year, which is unusual for me, and I had a lot of fun catching up on Wolf 359. (Mostly but still not quite caught up on the very, very latest eps, so no spoilers please!) I highly recommend it if anyone has considered trying it. I am not a podcast person, or an audiobook person either. I tend to struggle to focus when listening instead of reading words. But this was engaging enough that I had way, way fewer problems than usual, so for what that's worth - 'tis excellent fun!

I am also off to see Cursed Child today, finally. Happy belated birthday to meeee. Both parts back to back on four hours sleep with flu while dragging along a jetlagged houseguest. So that should be interesting. But I'm so excited!

A+ to the universe for waiting until after I'd mostly zero'd out the nominations queue for [community profile] femslashex, but mega mega F in general for making my harddrive fail yesterday. Thumbs up, super thrilled, all going awesomely over here. An hour of late night Apple chat later and I had a Genius appointment for Saturday and the realisation that I'd have to spend my morning on the phone with more people because apparently my AppleCare wasn't properly registered. So that was fun. It's sorted now thank god so they have to fix the damn thing, but also refurbished or not the year old laptop that never leaves my house and has a cooling pad shouldn't suddenly make rattling noises and forget it has a harddrive. Wtf.

Cross fingers and pray/think good vibes at me. Nothing super crucial is going to be lost if the data can't be accessed, but there is about 10k of unbacked up draft words in there plus the annoyance of resetting up all my software and copying over all. my. fucking. recent. photos. off memory cards all over again and stuff. Good lesson to self to back up data more often, blah.

So my week has suddenly gone from Do All The Things to motherfucker I need to review what fic deadlines I might need to drop out of now, remember how much I hate actual writing on my iPad, and also be cranky about all the stuff that is harder to do on mobile like spreadsheets and modding and life. Not being able to play Netflix on one device while I use the other is also making me unnecessarily cranky.

This would of course be less annoying (though like, it's all covered, it's fine really. I've had more bothersome computer failures even if I'm irritated as all hell about it) if my wrist was all the way instead of only partially improved. So most of my offline activities are still a no go as well. Joy.

Unrelated more positive side note: also started my second bujo this week, and I have upgraded to a dotted Leuchtturm and I so get all the fuss. Also pruning and editing my collections when carrying stuff over was more fun than is reasonable. Although possibly not having a working laptop or a working wrist is driving me round the bend with boredom already, so y'know.

So I know some of you guessed this already, but for those who haven't seen the community announcement yet and are interested in this sort of thing: I'm very excited to be joining the [community profile] femslashex mod team this year! This is one of my all time favourite exchanges from back when it was femslash-year-number, and I'm really happy to be helping to keep it ticking over going forward.

I have also strained my wrist and am lumbering about in a giant wrist brace, and forgetting and typing/lifting/living life with both hands periodically and then swearing a lot. So between modding, writing, and that I probably won't be around much for a little bit. But I am reading! I can scroll a reading page one handed at least!

Title: Three Meetings and a Dinner Date
Rating: G
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: Clara/Jenny (from The Doctor's Daughter)
Disclaimer: Sadly not mine in any way, shape or form.
Warnings: none (my warnings policy)
A/N: backlog crossposting, pinch hit for [community profile] femslashex. Totally jossed now by the last season and also my shiny new preferred Clara shipping, but still works as a cute little shippy AU.

Three Meetings and a Dinner Date has also been posted on Archive of Our Own.

Summary: Just when Clara is trying to forget about all things Time Lord, along comes a slightly odd blonde to liven things up again.

A/N: cabin fic pinch hit for [community profile] femslashex 2015.

Summary: When she agreed to move in with Peggy, Angie didn't realise she'd end up needing so many sets of keys... (A good agent sets up a secret place to retreat to in times of trouble. Peggy Carter is a very good agent. She has more than a few places.)

Title: Three Times Elena and Rebekah Disagreed About The Right Thing To Do (and one thing they found to agree on)
Rating: G
Fandom: Teen Wolf/The Vampire Diaries
Pairing: Elena/Rebekah, implied Katherine/Rebekah
Disclaimer: Sadly not mine in any way, shape or form.
Warnings: none (my warnings policy)
A/N: backlog cross-posting, written for [community profile] femslashex 2015. I've always wished Elena and Rebekah got along better in canon. This is my vision of how that works with an Elena who gets her hands a little dirtier a little earlier through non-human necessity, and a Rebekah whose walls are lower without a romantic-history-with-him reason to be jealous over Stefan and Elena and with slightly fewer intra-family threats to make her mistrustful. Plus, to be perfectly honest, I enjoyed implying Derek/Scott via fusion.

Three Times Elena and Rebekah Disagreed About The Right Thing To Do (and one thing they found to agree on) has also been posted on Archive of Our Own.

Summary: Elena's still focused on the moral and the true. Rebekah's still desperate for true friendship and loyalty. They still clash over everything. But somehow they bend a little more, too.

(The fic that should have been titled the Teen Wolf/The Vampire Diaries femslash fusion fic I didn't even know I wanted to write.)

Guys, GUYS. Seriously, you need to pay attention to this post!

Because [community profile] femslashex has gone live and I have been gifted the most wonderful thing and everyone ever needs to read it so they too can bask in the glory of this story. It's women and world building and subtly layering AU consistency over canon consistency and ladies kissing and I know we've all missed Xena. Here's a chance for you to go revisit it, I promise it'll be worth it.

I am always so blessed when people write me my tiny little headcanon pairing for my really old fandom, and this fic is no different. I can't put more words around how awesome this story is without spoiling the good bits, but it's 14k of glorious Amazons. By which I mean 14k of awesome. Read it.

Pathways (14285 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Xena: Warrior Princess
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Ephiny/Gabrielle (Xena)
Characters: Gabrielle (Xena), Ephiny, Various Amazons
Additional Tags: Developing Relationship, Smut, Amazons - Freeform
Summary:

An AU that retells Hooves and Harlots in a world in which the Warrior Princess never saved Gabrielle and the other Potadeian girls from the slavers.

(Sacrilege, I have no Xena icons. People on LJ will maybe I think just see Allison, but for context my icon on DW is LotS in honor of its status as the bastard stepchild of Xena. Also I really need an Amazon icon, what's wrong with past me and her icon choices seriously...)
shopfront: Source: Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner. Jessica and Jennifer leaning against each other and laughing. (RP [JG/JB] - have a happy femslashy day)
And she lives (for more than one post in a month, even)!

[community profile] femslashex goes live soon, and I'm super excited about it. I ended up writing three fics for it, so if anyone wants to play the guess the anonymous author game:
2 are from fandoms I've written or requested in the past year, 1 was from a fandom I wrote before that.
1 was a pairing I've written before, 2 weren't.
1 has a single fandom listed, 2 have double fandoms.
All 3 are under 3k.
All are tame on the ratings scale.

If anyone's (partially) right and on DW, I shall bestow some DW points after reveals. Or write you a ficlet or something, your choice.

Things I am doing lately:
  • Continually planning to post here more, but mostly reblogging random stuff on tumblr for no reason other than my own amusement. (I'd suggest looking me up there instead - shopfront-tw because I am too lazy to tumble properly or whatever - but you will get feed spammed with utterly random and excessive stuff just cause it made me giggle... Buyer beware and all that.)

  • Apparently giving myself all the bunnies for genderswapped Bobbi/Lance femslash (though I cannot seem to think up a good fancast, and I def need one first. I'm liking Christina Cox at the moment because she's got the right look when she's buffed up for certain SciFi roles, but I'd so love like a British Kara Thrace type preferably with a super extra dykey haircut. I'm losing lesbian points by the second here for being unable to think of someone. Help me readlist?)

  • Having lots and lots of fun writing for [community profile] femslashex. My first assignment took a million years to solidify in my head, but now I'm pinch hitting and the words are just flowing and I really do need to write more.

  • Related: pondering doing Nanowrimo for the first time in years.

  • Drafting my Yuletide sign up (how is it nearly Yuletide again!)

  • Settling into a new jooooooob! \o/ And other exciting adulting things like arranging a deposit on our wedding venue omg and missing my fiancée who has been jetsetting the globe for work but also enjoying proper introvert hermit time haha.

  • Relearning piano \o/ but not cooking nearly enough /o\

  • Bemoaning how utterly out of date my icons all are, still.

  • Buying like a million litres of BPAL and spending a bazillion hours trading pixel dragons (I know at least two other people on my readlist like pixels, come, tell me your Halloween breeding plans! :D) and continually celebrating Netflix coming to Australia earlier this year by failing to watch new episodes of anything except Doctor Who in favour of re-watching random shows just because. I probably didn't actually need to spend hours of my life rewatching The Vampire Diaries of all things, but I can't say I didn't enjoy it.

  • Telling myself that now I've done a mini-RL run down I might feel able to move on to the fandom stuff without feeling like I'm just jumping out of the woodwork to yell surprise and then promptly disappearing again. Um. If nothing else you'll see me again in a few weeks cross-posting my [community profile] femslashex fics haha.

  • EDIT: COMPLETELY FORGETTING that one of th reasons I wanted to post was to say that if you're not watching The 100, you should be. Who doesn't like space, and apocalypses, and fighting with swords, and awesome women everywhere, and ladies kissing? If I haven't already convinced you, you really need to watch this vid by jarrow: Warriors.

  • Also guys, seriously, when you've mainly been internetting via pixel dragon forums and tumblr, switching back to HTML is hard guys. Really hard. Like almost worth getting out of bed and using the desktop instead of an iPad (on which the rich text editor is a bit hopeless, probs cause I never update anything ever just so I can drive my tech obsessed fiancée mad for laughs - no not really but it's a better excuse than laziness, I promise) except nope, not happening. But hard. I keep forgetting to add the " into links again, urgh.
