I went to yarn group Sunday and had a fairly good time while working on a new kickbunny. A man who knits came and joined us and plans to be in for the long term. He changed the energy a lot. I finished the second kickbunny to restock the shop and have been working on donation hats on and off.

I went to yarn group Sunday and had a good time, though I messed up the bunny I worked on there, doh. Adding a Made To Order option in my etsy shop for kickbunnies was a good idea. I've had several sales already, and also the burgundy and rose pink ones keep selling out. Etsy's color of the year for 2026 is "Patina Blue," or blue copper, which is basically teal, so I'm focusing on burgundy and teal now, while hoping the brown and yellow bunnies in the shop will eventually sell. A fun aside: my Santa from the Kitten Academy holiday card exchange drew a great, colorful scene in the card he sent -- a Christmas tree filled with cats and two kickbunnies looking up at them from in front of a fire in the fireplace. A very happy-making surprise!

I went to yarn group on Sunday and had a nice time. We had our Christmas party with a lot of food, the vast majority of which I couldn't eat, darn it, but it was fun nonetheless. And my friend from there who I do ebay with gave me a big bag of craft books to list. I also worked on another burgundy kickbunny, as the one I just finished last week sold already. A number of people have sent me photos of their cats playing with things I made -- it's super gratifying, because CAT! And I've had two more people commission kickbunnies this week, yay!

a) Thanks to some links from Petra, I learned to knit a few rows of garter stitch. And yet...it feels wrong. (I'm probably doing it wrong, though my little swatch looks vaguely like it's supposed to.) I found a video on knitting continental, so the yarn is on the correct side for my brain. But it feels weird. Maybe I'm just built for crochet...?

b) I think I've just about got the Vampire Lestat in gold pants crochet pattern complete. I'm testing it, which is a good thing, bc I found some errors. Meanwhile, I'm teasing the art doll on Tumblr ([tumblr.com profile] mostlyvampires), hoping it'll eventually reach interested people. (I'd appreciate a reblog, if you see this! <333)

c) Next up maaaay be creating a red pants version. In the screen grabs from the trailer, that version doesn't have the necklace or microphone...unless I add them. I'm so impatient for more canon to work from! OR a different canon to bite me and demand yarning into being. OR commissions to make dolls of other people from photos. That's a thing I can do & it would be FUN!

d) Saturday evening some lovely anonymouse bought a Made to Order cat stitch scarf from me, but they didn't tell me what colors to use! I messaged them Sunday morning but didn't hear anything all day & hyperfixated on it, as you do. Then first thing Monday, there was a message with colors! So I spent all day Monday working on it, and then part of Tuesday weaving in all the million ends from the 45 color changes. And ouch my shoulder, but I've missed making these, so all in all, it was fun! AND, most importantly, I revised the listing to make it clear that ANY colors are doable, but you have to choose the colors! :g:

e) This is just me being fond, but yesterday someone bought the black sparkly amineko kitty with gold eyes after YEARS of it sitting on my couch waiting for a home. I'm so happy for it! \o/

Thursday's bone scan went fine, though the results weren't great. I may or may not have lost half an inch of height. I didn't stand up straight when she measured me, so I'm hoping not. Rockstar Lestat
The Vampire Lestat, in his rockstar era
I love him so much, y'all. I need to make another one to this scale in the red pants; then maybe I can bear to list one or both of them, once I know I can replicate him. I'm also tempted to make a version in the brown shirt, with a fern to go with, but I fear no one would buy it because it was too much a joke. Ah well. Maybe someone will commission it.

yarning
I've made so many cat toys this week! And a 12 1/2 inch cat kicker based on the National Parks Service official Walleye pattern (I added some rounds to make it bigger), only done in bright orange, like a goldfish. :g: I took only the fish to Thanksgiving to work on, which left me with days of nothing to make after I finished it. Doh!

etsy
yay selling things! I held a Black Friday sale to try to move some merchandise out of my house, and it succeeded fairly well. The discount was deeper than I'd quite prepared for, esp with free shipping, but worth it find some things their forever homes. I also figured out (I hope!) how to do Made To Order listings on etsy, so people can request a kickbunny in the colors of their choice without buying them in the wrong colors & sending me a note asking to switch the colors.

healthcrap
had to cancel the pain clinic procedure for lack of transportation, as expected. Tomorrow is a bone scan. I started drinking coffee again at my parents' place over Thanksgiving and have continued making a small amount every day. I hope it doesn't mess up my sleep?

And I learned from the Yuletide Discord that there is such a thing as "unenforceable DNWs," which are things that are unreasonable to ask of your match in your signup/letter...which means that I could have written the story I wanted to write instead of the one that I did. Oh well. Good to know that I could have messsaged the mods with my concerns, even though I didn't. Hopefully the story I did write holds together well enough on its own merits? :crosses fingers:

still reading: A Companion to Women in the Ancient World by Sharon L. James (Editor), Sheila Dillon (Editor). I did not expect this book to be so fucking triggery, so it's slow going.

Yuletide
I've reviewed canon a million times, inflicted canon on my beta (bless them), and now I'm rereading fic I wrote back in the day...trying to lure the muses back, I guess? IDK. I am blocked. I am stymied. I am in awe of my past self as a writer. I used to be so good! Now all that energy is going into crochet, or so it seems. I'm so frustrated. I mean, I should be able to do two things well, right? Creativity isn't a zero sum game. And yet. I'm really considering defaulting, even though I don't want to. I just can't seem to get my brain working. (I've never defaulted. I think this is my 20th? Yuletide & I don't want to break my streak, and yet. And YET.) :(((

yarning
Rockstar Lestat in the gold pants looks so GOOD! I'm so pleased. I've made him a little microphone out of wire and painted glitter onto his face. Not sure how much glitter to put on his chest, yet; the screencaps are inconsistent there. Could be the gold necklace is enough.

Yesterday I added wire rings to his index fingers, such as he has fingers, but this pic is from before that. Point is, I'm really happy with him so far. Maybe I'll keep him and make others to sell. Also, I went to yarn group Sunday and had a good time. Another new person came, and I worked on a gold and yellow kickbunny to replace the one that sold. A lot have sold in the last few weeks, which is great, as I need the $. And I just got a commission to make an orange fish cat kicker, so that'll be fun to work on over Thanksgiving.

etsy sale!
My Black Friday sale is here! Most things are 25% off, which is a deeper cut than is entirely reasonable, since I try to keep my prices as low as possible, but I really want some things to find their forever homes. Go to Sage's Handmade to have a look around. Also, commissions are open!

I've got to have yet another doc appt to fill out medical transportation forms, drat it all. ION my scale said that I'd lost 4 pounds last week alone, but! It turned out the ten year old scale was BROKEN. New scale came Sunday & proved the ridiculous weight drop was false, whew!

It's Secret Santa season, so I've been extremely busy shipping orders, doing commissions (carrots!), and making more kickbunnies and such for my shop. I also figured out how to offer Made to Order items, so I started with the calico cat stitch scarf. No takers yet, but it's good to be clear on the process. I went to yarn group Sunday and we had record-breaking turnout, yay! I've also made progress on Rockstar Lestat, though I've also had several setbacks, drat it all, including the yarn I picked for the gold pants not being at all gold enough. I did find a no-id skein that will work instead, but I wish I had a clue what brand it is, much less the colorway. And I decided on an axolotl for niece's xmas, which I've just now finished. yarning yay
I went to yarn group on Sunday and there was such good turnout, even though several people couldn't make it. It was really nice. I learned that one of my kickbunny customers has a puzzle game where her cat pushes a button to request certain toys, and she requests her kickbunny ALL the time! So heartwarming! She also sent a pic of the cat lying with her head on the bunny. Too sweet! I also gave five hats and a scarf to a yarn group member who volunteers at BoysTown/Boysville (a shelter for kids--with residential family situations, not dormitories). The yarning will go straight to the kids, not their thrift shop, so that's doubly wonderful. Also, I found a missing safety eye that I'd searched high and low for. Not high enough, apparently, as it was ON my workbench, not on the floor despite having clearly heard it bounce!

yarning boo
The reversible doll pattern I was using to make niece's xmas gift has a major flaw in the pattern & I'm really pissed off about it. I could wing it and make it work, or else I could just frog it and make something else for her entirely. Undecided.

Then the clock change knocked me back onto schedule, I hope. The morning nausea continues, though. And today I felt so rotten I actually napped for ninety minutes. Weird.

I missed yarn group Sunday due to the IBS/withdrawal nausea. Spent the time crocheting another cat stitch scarf and reviewing Yuletide canon. Monday I did a long photoshoot of the 15 items that I just listed in my shop. (So many cat toys! -- just in time for Kitten Academy Sekrit Santa to go live, woot!) Also, this soft acrylic scarf is for sale (as well as matching one in a burgundy, ivory, and grey wool-blend):

I'm holding back on making more cat stitch scarves until these two sell, unless someone commissions one in other colors, frex. Meanwhile, I have all this yarn that I'm impatient to use, and I just don't know what to make with it. Suggestions welcome! Maybe more winter hats for donation? IDK. I also am on the verge of making an S3 Lestat art doll, except I need some good reference images, esp for the scars. If I do a wire armature, he can even hold a tiny microphone. Hmmmm...

I went to yarn group Sunday and had a good time. Also, I cut my hair right before yarn group and I got nice comments on it, so that was extra happy-making. Then I showed off pics of my soccer ball-sized globe (and complained about the pattern not giving accurate Mediterranean or Australia, doh). Also worked on a navy blue kickbunny, which sold Monday afternoon right after I got back from the post office, where I was shipping a tan kickbunny to a customer, a blue bunny to Kitten Academy, and the globe to Niece, along with a moon and a bday card with a bright happy sun on it, so it was all of a theme. But dear god the increase in USPS prices! Nearly $3 more, and (since they moved to PA) KA isn't even as far! At least one was a business expense and another was prepaid by the customer. (This is why I don't offer free shipping on kickbunnies.) Anyway, I'm working on a turquoise kickbunny now and feeling super grateful that my shoulder is functional again. Knock wood.

Here is the link to the Noms Coordination Station. And here is the Noms Spreadsheet, where you can skim fandoms to see what's been nommed while we wait for the tagset to open. I replaced my nom for Katee Roberts' Dark Olympus series with Shakespeare & Jacobean Theatre RPF bc Will/Kit(/Annie) still owns my heart. And I changed my character noms for The Shadow of the Leviathan series by Robert Jackson Bennett. Noms close in the wee hours of Friday, US time. I still have no idea what I want to offer/request, but at least I've done my nominations?

Something
comes into the world unwelcome
calling disorder, disorder—

If you hate me so much
don’t bother to give me
a name: do you need
one more slur
in your language, another
way to blame
one tribe for everything—

as we both know,
if you worship
one god, you only need
One enemy—

I’m not the enemy.
Only a ruse to ignore
what you see happening
right here in this bed,
a little paradigm
of failure. One of your precious flowers
dies here almost every day
and you can’t rest until
you attack the cause, meaning
whatever is left, whatever
happens to be sturdier
than your personal passion—

It was not meant
to last forever in the real world.
But why admit that, when you can go on
doing what you always do,
mourning and laying blame,
always the two together.

I don’t need your praise
to survive. I was here first,
before you were here, before
you ever planted a garden.
And I’ll be here when only the sun and moon
are left, and the sea, and the wide field.

I will constitute the field.
