So, what am I about?

I've lived in upstate NY for my entire life, most of it in the Syracuse area. In high school I was the guy in the back that always got all the right answers in class and broke the bell curve on tests, yet had crappy grades cause I never did any homework.

In High School I had an experience hosting a Russian student in my home for 3 weeks, and then reciprocated to his home for 3 weeks....this led me to go to college to study Russian language, history, and culture. Yes, I speak Russian, no I don't do it very well anymore. I even spent a semester studying in Moscow, Fall '93.

My wife and I own a house in Nedrow, NY. I did support and repair for (mostly computer-based) POS systems for 6 years, now I do phone support for Verizon's FiOS service. Computers are my life, at work and at home.

If someone were to tie me down and force me to choose a label to describe my political and religious leanings, I would say I am a libertarian agnostic. I dislike labels however. I very rarely discuss politics in my LJ, and pretty much never discuss religion, as my viewpoint is that both are strongly personal and individual subjects.

I tend to have a rather sarcastic sense of humor, and I've been known to engage in some pretty biting snark sometimes. If I were on Friends, I'd be Chandler.

I have a pretty low tolerance for insipidness and stupidity. Whenever I see l33t sp33k I point and laugh. I despise seeing people talking on their cell phones when they are driving - see aforementioned stupidity.

I've been a homeowner since December 2001. My house is a vintage 1931, amateur built fixer-upper, and I am very much a tinkerer and a do-it-yourself-er, so I tend to have fairly regular bouts with the fun that entails. Hopefully I won't collapse the house around me one of these days.

I adore dogs. I actually like cats too, but I prefer dogs way more. My dogs bring much happiness to my life.

I have obstructive sleep apnea and I use BiPap to treat it.

I have an on-again, off-again ongoing battle with my weight. I dislike the current state of my body, but the trouble is I absolutely love to eat. Food = good. My willpower to limit it is unfortunately lacking.

I never miss new episodes of Lost, Heroes, CSI (Vegas only), Survivor, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica. I was a latecomer to the love that is Jericho, but now I've seen the light. I'll also catch the occasional episode of South Park, Family Guy, and The Simpsons. I heart my TiVo.

I am a movie fanatic and a DVD collector.

I'm an old school Star Wars fanatic, a Next Generation-era Trekker, and a staunch Browncoat. Actually, everything Joss Whedon touches turns to gold - thusly Joss Whedon is my master now.

I used to be a pretty hard core EverQuest addict, dual boxing and the whole deal. I've recovered from my addiction now. I had canceled my account for what I'd thought was probably for good, but recently some friends got me back into it. I only play for a few nights a week now. The only character I really play is Knord Rainhater, a lvl 72 warrior on The Tribunal server, but in the past I also 2-boxed a cleric named Dahktar Paynelusste. I tried both EQ2 and World of Warcraft, but never really got into either.

I am a rabid Miami Dolphins fan. RABID. During the NFL season I post nearly weekly about my 'phins. Someday they will make it back to the Super Bowl - and WIN.

I'm a St Louis Cardinals fan as well, but I'm not as fanatical about it. The baseball season's just way too long to get excited about it much before late August.

I follow Syracuse University men's Basketball and Football somewhat regularly during their respective seasons. It's hard to live in Syracuse and *not* be an SU fan. :)

Once upon a time I was into Genealogy, until I ran into some pretty hard brick walls and couldn't get any farther.

So, that's me. I do read my email every day, so if you want to drop me a line, I *will* reply to that. I also read my friends' LJs daily. Don't think I've dropped off the face of the earth if I don't update my LJ in a while though....I'll come back to it sooner or later.
