Reveals Party 2017!!!!!
Nov. 17th, 2017 02:07 pm“Perfection takes time, love,” Sirius replied. He leaned in closer to the mirror, straightening the collar of his velvet dress robes and grimacing at a non-existent wrinkle. “Besides, at this point, they should know us well enough to expect it.”
Remus, who had been ready and waiting for nearly an hour, shook his head as he looked at his pocketwatch. “I believe it was King Louis the 18th who said that punctuality is the politeness of kings.”
“Yeah, well I do believe that Evelyn Waugh said that punctuality is the virtue of the boring - and he’s much more up our alley, is he not?”
“Virtue of the bored,” corrected Remus with a chuckle. “And let’s not let our poor guests grow any more so!”
“Quite so,” said Sirius, and after one last-minute adjustment to his already perfect hair, they Apparated off to the party.

Seconds later, they appeared in the lobby of a ballroom. Four Mods stood before them, dressed to party. “Welcome!” they chorused to their guests of honor.
“Nice hair,” Sirius told Michelle (Brighty18). “That pink makes you look like Remus’ ex-wife.”
“Thanks,” she replied brightly. “I figure it gives a shot of color to the all-black evening gown look I seem to have chosen.”
“Well, you’re late again, guys,” said Kathy (Whitestar), who was dressed in a lavish black and gold steampunk skirt with leather corset and boots, and a mock laser pistol strapped to her forearm. A smug grin spread across her face. She turned to Audrey (cackling_madly) and Kathy held out her hand. “Fourteen minutes, just as I called it; I win the bet.”
“Fine,” said Audrey reaching into her small, shimmering purse, its crystal beads reflecting dots of light over her emerald silk suit. She pulled out an envelope and handed it over. “But we love them anyway!”
“See!” Sirius exclaimed. “Kathy profited from our lateness.” He smirked at Remus.
Remus rolled his eyes. “Only you can turn tardiness into a benefit.”
A polite cough caught their attention.
“Everyone ready?” asked Rowan (PicaScribit), smoothing the sleeves of their burgundy velvet jacket.
The group lined up in front of the large double doors, and once in place, Rowan grabbed hold of the brass handles and threw open the doors, giving Wizards and Mods their first view of the glittering partyscape. Festive tables with sparkling candles and bouquets of red and gold flowers, atop tablecloths of white, filled the giant hall. Games participants took up every available seat, excitedly chattering among themselves.
“Sweet Merlin,” whispered Sirius under his breath, “everybody’s here.”
“Yes, it’s kind of bittersweet, is it not?” said Remus. “Ten years is a long time.”
For a few moments, the four Mods and the two Wizards stood still, silently contemplating their ten years of fandom, friendship, and fun. They thought of all the wonderful works that had been created and the many awards that had been given out.
“Hey,” cried a guest. “There they are!”
The room buzzed with excitement until Remus cleared his throat with a loud “HARUMPH!” and settled everyone down. “Welcome to the final Reveals of the final RS Games!” he announced.
The crowd erupted in cheers.
Sirius stepped up beside his partner. “This year we had over 105 participants from at least 23 countries and 19 US states. But, it’s probably more, because not everyone gives an exact location.”
“In the end,” said Remus, “we had 64 works, and you wrote over 610,229 words with an average of 10,521 words per story. My Team created 28 works with 206,285 total words. That averages out to 7934 words per story. And, might I add, great job, folks!”
Thunderous applause for Team Remus echoed around the ballroom.
“And my Team,” broke in Sirius, “created 36 works with a whopping 403,944 words total and an average of 12,623 words per story. Clearly, this is because, like me, my Team is eloquent and creative and…”
“...doesn’t know when to shut-up,” interrupted Remus with a laugh.
This time the entire room applauded. “Yeah, but who won?” a participant called out.
“So, yeah, that,” said Sirius. He reached into the pocket of his dress robes, pulled out a large scroll of parchment, and handed it to Remus, who carefully removed the ribbon and handed it back.
Together, they read out, “This year’s winner is ....”
