Am I caught up on fic prompts?  Lady, no, I am not.  Nor worrying tonight, quite honestly.

Inks:  Okay, most of this set spoiled me.  Most.  Although, I'd like to say, Diamine needs a better font for these, because when people are reading Vibe as Vile, that is not the message you wanted to send.

Anyway.  Hope I haven't bored everyone, but that's what cut-tags are for, right?

Okay. So. Twelve days to catch up. Okay. Six today, seven tomorrow, and maybe I'll even post Christmas's results then.

For the Penzey's stuff -- to be honest, I've liked all of them.

And now the inks, or at least another half dozen. As usual, there are some I'll use, some I'm going to try to re-home, and a few I absolutely love. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure I can find someone who wants most of them. (I'm not sure at all about the 19th, but that's in tomorrow's report.)

So, we left off on Grotto, the gorgeous orange-red sheening ink where I've got almost two pages of Numb3rs fic.
And inks! )

More catching up tomorrow, around the laundry, wrapping, and comments.

For the Highlander fans, and a lot of you are, I mention that the holiday HL fic is releasing, a couple a day, and the first six are out. Go, enjoy! The first two are here and you can just keep clicking to the next stories.  All right.  And soon, bed.  Night, all!
rhi: Connor, pensive, chin on folded arms (Connor)

Some of these will be dull, sorry:  migraine moving in.  And it's short, so just not cutting it. Apologies to anyone bored.

Penzey's packets:  For the 10th I got granulated garlic which will go in all manner of things, but I'm thinking some kind of shrimp, honestly.  Today's packet was Arizona Dreaming which I have and love and will add to my current bottle when there's room.  If you want to spice up potatoes, mixed onions and peppers for anything (usually for an omelet for me), season sausage or minute steaks? This is for you. Lovely stuff.

Inks:  Two immediate loves for me.  Yesterday was Chilly Nights, a lovely black-blue with enough silver sparkle to stand out in any light.  (Maybe also some blue or green glitter?  Not sure.)  Anyway, I love it and wrote Connor MacLeod fic for it.

Today is Grotto, an orange/gold/crimson.  It writes deep autumn orange, the kind of orange that's heading to red?  But it sheens a beautiful gold anywhere the ink pooled.  I have no idea why it's called grotto -- fires?  Tropical fish and safety?  But I love it, and it's beautiful and bright.  Fic for that later.

Running late on everything; the holidays caught up with me, and migraines, and a doctor's appt tomorrow.  (Routine; no worries.)  So, back later.  In the meantime, have some Connor (and Heather) fic.  Chilly Nights.

Yeah, Saturday vanished to Pokemon Go and yesterday to a rest day, so we will now play catch-up!

Penzey's packets: Read more... )

As to inks, I have written and am editing (and trying to shorten) the Icy Lilac fic from the 5th.

But the Pokemon Go hunting went well, I needed that rest day (11 hours of sleep? whoof), and I'm back?

Oops.  As usual, I'm posting about every other day.  Oh, well!

Yesterday's Penzey's packet

If you're thinking I have a bag of paper clips living in my kitchen just now, to seal up packets again?  You're right.  I do.

Inkvent!  Looking at Bsky, you'd think I was the only one who likes yesterday's ink.

I wrote fic for this one, too:  Victor/Victoria, Cherries in Winter.

Today's ink is Icy Lilac

I started one fic for it and decided I was not writing angst, so I'll try again tomorrow.  Meanwhile, digital dragons and finishing other fics already in progress!  Or the one that's due in a month, come to think of that.

rhi: a holiday tree made of stars (holiday star tree)
For the Penzey's packets, yesterday was their seasoned salt and today was a salt-free blend, Mural of Flavor. While I'd have liked to start off with more festive spices (cinnamon, or vanilla sugar, or cocoa mix), I do admire the pragmatism of 'Here, have these spices that will let you eat all month, okay?" And since I've been trying to use at least a little of each new one on the day I get it, yesterday's salt went very nicely in my cabbage soup -- I need to make lentil soup tomorrow for variety, I'm just debating between recipes -- and today's Mural of Flavor tasted exceptionally good on cheese toast for brunch.

Yesterday's ink was Wilted Rose, a standard ink. Ink description and fic link )

Today's ink is Noble Fir, More ink talk, but fic still to come. )

2 ficlets posted, one a quadruple drabble, one an actual drabble.  (I wrote short?  WTF?)  Links are:  Target Acquisition, a Numb3rs ficlet, and Mountain Running, a Highlander.drabble.

Meanwhile, I need to make myself an Ian Edgerton icon, clearly.

rhi: A quill pen in a pot of black ink. Text reads, today is for writing. (writing today)
Thanksgiving mostly went well, although I'm apparently allergic to something in the barbecue joint's smoked turkeys.  Damn it.  Oh, well.  Next year, my co-cook says she'll go back to roasting a bird so I can share the main dish instead of having to bring my own.

But it's December 1st, my least favorite month, so this year I have two Advent calendars to play with.

The Penzey's calendar had black pepper today, which went into the feta sauce pasta for dinner.  (There may well be recipes posted this month. Ask if you want one.)

As for the Diamine Inkvent, today's fountain pen ink was Baltic Breeze.  I'll be putting the ink description behind one cut for the interested, and the daily writing from the ink color and/or name as prompt behind another so y'all can skip either or both.  And then I'm gong to go write some words on fic, because I do try to finish some chapters and/or stories in December.

Baltic Breeze:
Today's words:

PS -- to the nameless person I'm betaing for: I'm halfway through it, but lost the first six pages of comments twice, blast it.  I forgot bloody Word quit doing autosaves if you don't give it AI access.  :sighs:  So, doing it again on paper.  I repeat, halfway through.  Should have it to you Tuesday?  Wednesday latest.

rhi: Pen, ink, and paper: Ghost writer (ghost writer)
I should write up my Chicago trip, but I don't feel like hosting pictures, so instead, have some comments on fountain pens.

I took up fountain pens right before the pandemic hit, with much advice from a Discord buddy (bless him!). And today I was cleaning pens/checking ink colors as one does, and I thought, "Huh. Might as well try to save others from my mistakes."

If you're not interested in fountain pens, this cut is your safety. The rest of you, go ahead and click. )

And that's my fountain pen post! My own pens are loaded or soaking and I'm off to write Spook Me fic. Inkvent starts again Dec 1. I will probably be doing my morning prompt warmup off their new colors again, too.

Hope this was fun for some of you!

Hmm, I missed a couple day's -- the MCU talk ate some time -- so, I'm catching up with two here, and two more later, under a cut to spare folks who aren't interested in maunderings. Spiced Apple red, Ghost lavender-grey )
rhi: A crouching, annoyed looking, snow-covered lynx. "Patience is a virtue." (patience)
Today's ink is a lovely medium-dark green called Spruce, and it's *scented* to smell like Spruce. I love this ink and want to buy a large bottle (alas, they don't sell it individually but maybe next year?) and use it constantly. But it got me thinking about evergreens.

There is a soothing safety to evergreens. Ever-green, ever-shaded, ever-covering shelter from summer rain (somewhat) and the snows of winter. Safe and steady and predictable. Source of amber, some of them, and sap-laden wood, many of them, and restful to eyes seeking anything.

Of course, that year-round shade is there for all, and sometimes it shelters predators.

But then, where doesn't?

I swear, I think LaCroix wandered through at the end. And I'll have to see if I can get pictures to show up here. Maybe I'll email them to myself, but I have pics for the ink samples. Anyway, see folks tomorrow with what will probably end up an essay if not TED talk about Marvel and Age of Ultron and water-skiing over sharks.
