51/291-292-293: Drippy
Dec. 17th, 2025 03:29 amMonday was a day full of plans that went nowhere, ending up rounded with more than little sleep. It's now more impression than memory, but I think it was still daylight when I crawled under the covers for a nap, and then I woke up in deep darkness with the sound of rain hitting the vent pipes. I listened for awhile then went back to sleep, and didn't wake up again until gray light was leaking around the blinds. I got up and watched the rainy morning through my back window.
And what a Tuesday. I was about to take a bath when the manager of the apartments called and said the plumber was coming to hook up the outdoor faucet bibs that had been left dry following the re-plumbing that took place over a year ago. It seemed an inauspicious day for outdoor plumbing work, but not my call, so I just accepted it. The job took about four hours, and the water was off intermittently, and by the time it was done I didn't feel like a bath, but I did feel like a nap, so I went to sleep in daylight again.
This time I woke up not long after midnight, and since I couldn't get back to sleep and hadn't had dinner, I got up and made some macaroni (actually fusilli) and cheese. I made it with evaporated milk, a can of which I had accidentally opened Sunday (because I suffer from Stupid Old Nearly Blind Guy Syndrome) and it turned out better than I'd have expected, though I made and ate too much, even though I didn't eat all I made, and am now logy and probably headed back to bed, despite the fact that there are still things I ought to be doing. Is that whole paragraph really only two sentences? Yep, it was. Fixed it.
It isn't expected to rain more today, or tomorrow, but the forecast is saying it will be back Friday, and... oh, dear. Rain or showers are then predicted for every day for the rest of the month. I've been seeing the satellite images of the valley completely shrouded in tule fog day after day, but that fog doesn't bring rain, or even showers, so I guess that pattern is broken, for now. Had I still lived up on the hill I would have had sun every day for the last month. I still won't be getting sun, but neither will the mountains. Neener neener, I guess.
