Community Description:A noticeboard for fanwork recommendations

Introduction

[community profile] recsrainbow is a noticeboard community for reccers, a place for them to advertise their recommendation site and post update notices. It used to be hosted on livejournal.com, but is now on dreamwidth.org.

An archive of [livejournal.com profile] recsrainbow from 2003 to 2017 is hosted at [personal profile] rainbow_mod.

Qualifications

[community profile] recsrainbow accepts every type of recommendation site, of every genre and theme. The community is not limited to fanfiction, but welcome ever medium of fanworks. However:
  1. Your rec site must not be newly created and empty of content. At least one rec post must have been made.
  2. Your rec site must be public. No locked journals or communities for example.
  3. Your rec site must meet one of the following criteria:
    • A dedicated website or blogging account for fanwork recs
    • A dedicated recommendation list for fanwork recs
    • If a mixed content website or blogging account, it must have:
      1. A dedicated tag for the fanwork recs (e.g. rec, recs);
      2. The dedicated tag is consistently used to tag content with fanwork recs;
      3. And at least ~10% of the site or account content is fanwork recs (e.g. ~1 in 10 original posts is a fanwork rec)
And that's it as far as requirements go. The moderator of [community profile] recsrainbow does not judge for quality or quantity, as far as she understands her job description in any case.

Tagging

Posts will be tagged for:
  • post type: # mod post, # new site, # site update
  • fandom referenced in the particular post

Tags are currently pre-populated from a previous experiment so please go ahead and select all applicable post type and fandom tags. The moderator will create and tag any new tags missing from the posts.

The tags may be re-organized at a later date in this possible format: * fandom name in original language, - transliterated fandom name and . English translated fandom name.

Dreamwidth allows 1,000 tags maximum and it will be awhile before [community profile] recsrainbow reaches the tags limit again, but if it does, then tags, for example, with less than < 5 usages or so may be deleted to allow for tags with more than 5 usages to be created.

Moderation

Hopefully, moderation will be low-key. As previously mentioned, the moderator does not judge for quality or quantity of the recommendation site. I'll only be reviewing posts to determine if they meet the general guidelines outlined in "Qualifications" and "Membership & Submissions" sections.

I will not be enforcing a strict adherence to these guidelines. For example, I will not be counting if there is actually 1 fanwork rec out of 10 original posts in a mixed content website or blogging account nor will I comment about a site update post using a new site template instead of a site update template.

However, there will times where I will have to intervene. If I find that your posts do not meet the general community guidelines, then you'll likely receive a comment from me saying for example:
Hi there, I noticed that your rec site seems to be a mixed content blogging account, but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated tag for fanwork recs, e.g. 'rec', 'recs'? Am I missing something?

Could you create a dedicated tag for fanwork recs and tag your posts appropriately please? Thank you!
Or
Hi there, I noticed that your post didn't use our template for advertising a rec site, could you modify your post to use the template please? Thank you!
If my comments are not addressed after ~1-2 weeks for the first example or ~2-3 days for the second example, then your posts may be deleted or rejected.

I understand the process may be a pain and also stressful so don't hesitate to ask me questions or bring up concerns. We'll both learn from the experience together: me learning to communicate better and you learning more about how this community works. Hopefully, we'll stumble toward some kind of satisfactory resolution.

If you find there is anything I missed or have any questions or comments, ping me in the comments of the applicable post, email [email protected] or send a private message through Dreamwidth to [personal profile] rainbow_mod.

I'll try to be prompt in reviewing posts and replying to comments, questions and messages, but please be patient and allow me 2-3 days to review and address any issues, longer if the particular issue requires more time. Thank you!
