PARTY ON! BURNING SOUL!

Here's the abridged version, I'll flesh it out and add the rest of the styles/whatever else later because it's 5:30am.

1) Go to the Advanced Customization page. Under Advanced Options, select Your Layers.
2) Under Create Layer you will see Create Top Level Layer. In the type drop down box, select "layout". Right next to that, on the "core version" drop down box, set the core to 1 instead of 2. If you use Core 2, this will not work!!!
3) Your new layer should show up on the Advanced Customization page after this. Click "edit" and paste in this code for Flexible Squares. Save and compile.
4) Go to the customize page and select Your Custom Layers. Apply your Flexible Squares layer. From that point on, customization should be just like it is on Livejournal with the exception of custom comment pages. You can turn those off here.

Your tiny icons are going to use a new url! Do a CTRL+F in your css (not your layout layer!!!) and replace the protected/user/community links with the following:
