Apr. 9th, 2011 02:05 amtoday's (friday) vlog contains music by pico, a band from the early 2000's fronted by Lianne Hall. i thought it would be courteous to at least ask her for permission to use her music in this way so i went to google, where i found her website. i also found this vid which cheered me up immensely. i was (is) very much a fan of John Peel and remember watching that tv show when it was first broadcast. it was that feeling of 'someone i know is on tv!'
i first met lianne at the 1in12 Club in bradford when she was in a band called witchnot back in the early '90's. i saw her with pico at the love apple. it was a club night and there were half a dozen bands performing that night. they were ok, it was a fun night but when it was pico's turn it was as if the quality of music was suddenly elevated to 11 from an average of about 4. no offence to the other musicians they were pretty good, and entertaining but pico really were head and shoulders above the rest. and they weren't even headlining...
