This journal is mostly random updates, my 'Year in Review' stats and musings, podfic meta & recs, Festivids, ITPE, & Yuletide stuff, and in the past participation in challenges. Hopefully it will continue to be fannish thought and more frequently updated (and possibly vid posting). I'm most active on Twitter at this point, but I read my DW circle about once a week. I would like to build a broader base of Dreamwidth community so I have a goal of actually commenting on other folks posts and posting myself.

This puts me at around a year since I fell into Scum Villian’s Self-Saving System fandom, which is neat! I typically am in a fandom for less than a year, or wander on as it dies down but delightfully SVSSS has staying power insofar as there are still folks actively and frequently creating fic in it and so there’s more for me to enjoy (an potentially podfic in the future). And as it’s a relatively closed canon I don’t need to worry about stuff happening that makes me less interested in the canon. But aside from the SVSSS fervor of this year, I have also dabbled in some other fannish spaces as well.

I virtually attended Citrus Con this year, I think because I saw someone talking about it on Bluesky, and it was a very right-time alignment for reminding me how I used to be really into manga/anime. I’ve been keeping up with anime somewhat through watching with friends but not seriously keeping track of what I might be interested in or reading manga. So now I’m getting caught up.

Lurking in the Citrus Squad discord led me to discovering Korean webcomics. Now I’m in a bunch of tiny fandoms, following 23 ongoing webcomics and keeping tabs on 13 that are on hiatus. As someone who wants fanvids of all the things I love, this has also meant getting a TikTok account because that’s where the edits/vids fandom is for Korean webcomics, so that’s also been a new experience. I haven’t started vidding webcomics yet but I’m definitely observing what I think works, or doesn’t, and hoping that I figure out vidding still images effectively for myself in the next year. This has also meant learning new pronunciation and proper nouns for podfic, which is a bit harder coming from webcomics than Kdramas because at least with dramas I have the show audio to try and mimic, but for webcomics by the time I start recording something I have possibly been pronouncing words incorrectly in my head for a while. So I’m starting to learn phonetic interpretation of transliteration of Korean better (I hope).

I’m now also dipping my toes in the world of Korean webnovels, in addition to having been consistently reading (or listening to) danmei over the course of the last year. I anticipate finishing 2ha in the coming year, and getting to enjoy catching up on the fandom without fear of spoilers. And once that happens I’ll probably get back into Critical Role as my primary audio-accompaniment to the hours and hours of physical therapy I have to do every week. But I am interested in webnovels as long-form story telling, enjoying what I’ve read so far, and curious to check out more of the fan translations particularly for genres that interest me (Korean hunterverse webnovels have been a good match for tropes I like).

I started doing embroidery last year, so that’s a creative thing I’ve been doing this whole year. I’ve done a few fannish pieces this year, but hope to do more in the next year. (Last year was Perihelion polar fleece, MDZS bunnies, and Utena shadow girls, this year was a humpback whale for Lays of the Hearth Fire, SVSSS bingqiu, a Ghibli-esque train and rice fields image (ongoing), and a character for a gift swap - perhaps I should do an embroidery specific post with pics at some point). My plan for what’s next is a Moshang thread painting fanart piece.

Podfic

This year I posted 62 podfics totaling 91 hours. That’s ~20 hours more than last year, which makes sense as I did more long podfics than normal - SVSSS is very good for long fic. I went into the year intending to record 2 ~120k fics, I wound up adding to that several in the 30-90k range.

I recorded in 20 fandoms, primarily Lays of the Hearth-Fire, Scum Villian’s Self-Saving System, Summer Hikaru Died, and S Classes That I Raised.

Personal Favorite: Embers by alfgifu and Tarnished Gold by Prim_the_Amazing tying for first place in this category as two of my long projects this year that I particularly loved

Completed goals

- Record the rest of the Embers series by alfgifu

- Record some long SVSSS fic - and how! I did 5 podfics of at least 40k each. This was more than I was even anticipating when I set this goal last December. SVSSS fandom has been such a joy <3

- Participate in VoiceTeam

- Continue making cover art for all my podfic

What’s next (future goals)

- VoiceTeam participation

- Continue making cover art

- If particular author completes a particular SVSSS WIP - ask for permission & if granted record (preferably as part of PodficBigBang, but idk if author will be finished timely for that and I’m waiting to ask for recording permission for when they’re done)

- Podfic for Blind Go (if I get permission from author of fic I’m thinking of for it)

- Get all my stuff duplicated to SquidgeWorld so I have diversification off AO3 (I’ve been sidetracked onto other projects and this one has been backburnered so idk when it might realistically happen, maybe this is a 2027 thing)

- Get all my stuff backed up onto the audiofic archive - happily I might be able to rely on the kindness of others and not do this myself since I keep failing to do it.

I made final drafts of a total of 13 vids this year. I have 3 vids in-progress at the moment. I don’t have any dominant fandom this year, a selection of Festivids fandoms and some anime.

Hardest to make: Rust - I signed up for this fandom for Festivids last year knowing the show was ongoing, turns out I don’t like trying to make a vid for an actively ongoing canon, I don’t enjoy constructing a vid when not entirely sure what I’ll get out of the last episodes of a season. Suffice to say I now know I prefer to vid a canon once a season is complete (even if there will be future seasons).

Things I learned this year: I feel like I’m getting better at audio editing (thank you sandalwoodbox!).

Completed goals:

- I sent vids to some cons

- keep growing diversity of my music collection but also listen more to songs of artists I’ve liked so I can be familiar with them/know them well.

Ongoing goals:

- make another collaborative vid w/ sandalwoodbox (we did a tiny bit of work on this but still very much ongoing)

Future Goals:

- Make and send AMVs to AMV Contests?

- Make a webcomic vid?

Fic

I wrote one fic for Yuletide this year, so just a little bit once again, but I felt better about my writing process this year and I want to see if I can keep writing over the course of the next year. I feel really rusty but like I could enjoy it if I got back into writing regularly like I used to. I had an idea for an additional fic but didn’t write it. Hopefully I’ll do more in the new year without needing Yuletide as encouragement to write.

• Identity shenanigans (transmigration, radio dj aus, and camboy aus often fall under this for me)
• Self esteem issues/poor self-worth (imposter syndrome, self-sacrifice, and suicidal ideation often fall under this for me)
• Xeno/xenophilia/xenobiology (I enjoy this trope both in gen and porn capacities, includes humans-as-space-orcs type stories/humans as alien/other)

Completed goals
- Completed the WIP I was in the middle of last December
- Did BP podfic from my topodfic list
- Continued making cover art for all my podfic
- Continued going where my fannish joy takes me as much as strikes my fancy
- Try doing something with accent work - I actually did this! First with The Magic of Coincidece by Moebius for English accents (specifically Emma Thompson which involved watching lots of clips of interviews with her), then house rules by halfeatenmoon for Australian accents which also involved watching lots of Australian accent videos, and then The Arrest of Cliopher Mdang by astrocryptographer where I did absolutely no prep for the accents and just sort of tried to do them. This was fun!, if somewhat difficult. When I’m trying for an actualfacts place on planet earth it makes my recording process much, much longer so that’s not something I’m going to be leaning hard into probably - unless I get better at it…which only happens through practice. It is nicer to play around with accents in a fantasy other world so if I miss the mark it’s not like I’m totally failing at a specific part of our world, who knows what folks from Wester Xiputl really sound like…I may want to try more of this again in 2025 - though consistently, scope, and amount of accent work required for a particular story will need to be taken into account, not going to be doing it with everything, or most things probably.

Did not yet/ongoing goals:
- Get all my stuff duplicated to SquidgeWorld so I have diversification off AO3 (I’m working w/ sandalwoodbox on a script but this is basically a me-learning-python task so it’s probably going to be another year or two for this goal to come to fruition. )
- Get all my stuff backed up onto the audiofic archive (again a script to pull down all my info/metadata/files etc is first, then I need to reach out to audiofic and talk with them about how to upload things there and then figure out automation for that).

What’s next (future goals)
- Record the rest of the Embers series by alfgifu
- Maybe(?) record some long SVSSS fic that I’ve been recently really excited about (problem is - long recordings take lots of time and I’m worried about being sniped by other future fandoms I don’t know about and being over-extended on my podficcing commitments :/ also dipping back into c-drama/danmei will mean dealing with tones again so there’ll be a dip in my production speed as I re-teach myself & learn new names & words to the point I can make it all flow smoothly.
- Participate in VT again (meaning record short things in a random variety of fandoms)
- Continue making cover art for all my podfic (I could maybe drop this as a goal soon, it’s becoming enough a part of my process even though I still find it annoying to do)

Vids
I made final drafts of a total of 18 vids this year (6 of which were first drafted in December of last year). I have 1 vid in-progress at the moment. Fandom wise I had D&D: Honor Among Thieves (4), Reset (2), Fire Island (1), 9-1-1 (6), Crush (1), Arrival (1), and The Lazarus Project (1)

Hardest to make: Roundabout - I had the idea but wasn’t sure how to execute it and while I’m pleased with the result, a third season might have made the vid better, sadly there will be no 3rd season so the vid is what it is.

Things I learned this year: How to make a proxy for clipping (though I didn’t wind up using it and won’t remember how next time I try), how to vid off an external hard drive, though I still need to point DVR to the new file locations for a lot of things, but now my computer isn’t constantly bemoaning the fact that 9-1-1 takes up 70% of my hard drive space.

Completed goals:
- send vids to VidUKon (and Fanworks)
- keep growing diversity of my music collection but also listen more to songs of artists I’ve liked so I can be familiar with them/know them well.

Ongoing goals:
- make another collaboration w/ sandalwoodbox. We did some betaing/cheerleading for each other and have started on preliminary work for a collab but pushed it to next year.
- make 3 other 9-1-1 vids I have planned. I did 1 of those vids but still have 2 others that I may want to do, sort of depends on where S8 goes, so I’m not holding myself to this one, we’ll see.

Future Goals:
- Send vids to VidUKon, WisCon, and Fanworks (e.g. make 3 vids)
- Make a vid for a particular Festivids fandom, even if I don’t finish it/do it during Festivids.

This year I left my job at the start of July as by May I had come to terms with the fact that actually I was pretty miserable at it and it likely was never going to get less stressful. This turned out to be a good thing because as part of the 'why is my heart rate bonkers' (which yes partially was constant work adrenaline) was also it turned out related to some medical stuff so I spent the majority of my summer doing health-fixing things and laying flat, which it turned out meshed up well with giving 9-1-1 a second shot (season 1 didn't do it for me, apparently I needed to meet Eddie Diaz to be sold hook, line, and sinker on this show). I'd hoped to have my life figured out and know what I'd be doing next by the end of summer, that emphatically didn't happen, but this fall I have been looking into other careers, talking to people about their work experiences, and figuring out what qualifications I might need for what I might want to do next (definitely not the field I've been in the last 7 years so...). I've been very grateful to my spouse for support through this process. I'm not entirely sure what's next, but I'm hoping to move forward on something in the new year (even if it's trying a workplace out and finding out it doesn't work and moving on to try something else [if folks will hire me]). We've also been thinking about the potential-child question so that's also at play in this as a consideration about what may (or may not) be next in life. So I've been a bit in a waiting place where I'm gathering lots of information, and trying to get myself together (particularly medically) so I can move on to the next phase of my life, whatever it is, from a good foundation.

What it is and what I like about it: American Action/Adventure movie inspired by the fantasy role playing game. This movie is just a fun time of a group of lovable adventures and their found family exploits (with some decent heist vibes).

What I want in a vid: I enjoy all the characters but particularly ship Xenk and Edgin, so if that's your thing I'd be delighted to receive a ship vid. Or if you are more interested in the ensemble a found family & adventures vid would be lovely. Or I'd be interested in a vid about Holga if you're excited about doing a character study for her. I'm not interested in Doric/Simon so please don't do a ship vid for them for me.

What it is and what I like about it: An epic fantasy American TV show, ensemble cast, beautiful scenery and costumes, compelling characters.

What I want in a vid: I love Moiraine a lot, so anything that's a character study of her would be delightful. I appreciate the Moiraine/Siuan relationship so if you want to give me a ship vid or a vid exploring that relationship, that'd be cool. I'd love a Lanfear vid set to an Evanescence song, it seems right for her excellent swag. I'm excited about Aviendha but not sure we have enough footage for that, but if we you have an idea/are inspired I'd be interested. Also the Ta'veren are cool so if you wanted to do something ensemble-y with them that'd be neat. Egwene had a strong arc this last season, so if you wanted to make a vid for her, I'd be here for that.

What it is and what I like about it: Japanese BL TV show about a doujinshi comic artist and an idol who knew each other in high school and reconnect. Rom-com with additional feelings of imposter syndrome and self-worth issues.

What I want in a vid: These two are a great gloomy-one/sunshine-one, I'd be interested in a ship-vid if that's your thing. Or if you want to make a vid using the weird/interesting cinematography choices of this show that'd be cool to (though please minimal usage of the endless spinning at the hand-holding scene).

开端 | Reset (TV 2022)

What it is and what I like about it: Chinese TV show. One of the best executed timeloops I've ever seen. Two college students are caught in a timeloop on a bus that's about to explode. (warning: copaganda)

What I want in a vid: I enjoy both the main characters and do ship them, but what I really want is a summary vid looking at the story as a whole not just the relationship. I'd be happy for character studies of either of the main characters or somehow a study of both of them together just not ship-focused but rather story-focused. I'm not sure there's a whole vid to be made given the amount of footage but if The Cat Apostle is your jam I'd take a vid about him happily too.

What it is and what I like about it: Japanese live action TV show (2019), Special Episode (2020), and movie (2021). I like that both the main characters are in their forties, and how they’re in an established/settled relationship, I love their shared love of food and all the recipes and cooking in this show.

What I want in a vid: I’d be delighted to receive a ship-vid focusing on their relationship, or if you want to do a vid about food and the joy of cooking and sharing food with those you love that would also be lovely.

What it is and what I like about it: A Japanese BL TV show about two twenty somethings and one of those character's much-younger brother he is essentially parenting, with focus on cooking/food/eating together.

What I want in a vid: A shipvid for the main ship but inclusive of the child and their becoming-a-family feel would be great. I also really love that the show includes the love-interest's father for (sort of) a three-generation family vibe, so if you want to also include him in that, that's cool.

What it is and what I like about it: A queer Japanese TV show about a woman who loves to cook food and her neighbor, a woman who enjoys eating. A short, sweet exploration of their growing relationship with lots of cooking and feelings about food.

What I want in a vid: I'd love a shipvid for these two, or a vid about the joy of cooking and sharing food with those you love.

It's ITPE time of year again and I have recently figured out a new recording set up since my recording laptop died this summer, so I've just started recording again and am awash in fannish feelings so this is great timing. I'm very excited to share a fandom with you and listen to whatever you create for me!

I've been continuing to use pinboard so if you want some guidance on fics and authors I've enjoyed. I've got a "wishlist" tag and a "tier1" tag which are composed of particular favorites, but also my "considerpodficcing" tag is fic that I really enjoyed, enough to think about podficcing/wish for a podfic but may not actually record myself as it might not be quite right for my voice/not exactly what I personally want to record but it'd be super nifty if there was a podfic for it. I can be very 'gandalf_ihavenomemoryofthisplace.gif' about fic, so even if you pick something I ostensibly know it can still be a like-new experience for me to listen to, particularly when I'm jumping into a new fandom and consuming so much fic that it all starts to blend into a happy amalgamation in my brain.

My 'topodfic', 'toedit', and 'topost' tags reflect stuff I'm currently working on or intend to be working on shortly, I would ask that you do not pick a fic with one of those tags if possible because I find I have finish a project and then wait a bit after I finish before I can listen to someone else's version and I want to be sure to be able to listen to yours immediately (but if the fates are funny that way and it turns out that you're recording for me something I'm recording for someone else this ITPE, don't worry, I will be excited to listen in the future!). I have a 'BPauthor' tag for authors with Blanket Permission statements so that could be useful. Please don't feel like you have to record something I've pinned on pinboard, I also super love getting to listen to podfic of new-to-me stories so whatever you find that you think I would like I can't wait to hear.

Fandoms

9-1-1 (TV) - This is my main fandom right now, I finished the show earlier this summer, I'm in the midst of doing the clipping/tagging work for the vids I have planned, I've read hundreds of thousands of words of fic in the last months and am starting to record in this fandom myself. I'm 100% gone on Buck/Eddie, A+ ship, I love them so much. I appreciate canon divergence get together fics at whatever point in the show, I enjoy their co-parenting and forming a life/family together along with Chris. The found-family of the whole show is just so good for me, so things also including Bobby & Athena as Buck's parents are also lovely (fics with bashing of Buck's biological parents is totally fine with me). I appreciate Buck's canonical self esteem issues and happily enjoy fic that lean into potential suicidal ideation with that character if that kind of angst is your jam. This fandom has some great fake dating and time loop stories! Like what seems to be most of fandom the tsunami arc was very good for me, so fics that are about that are great. There are some excellent Blanket Permission authors in this fandom. I'm okay with AUs in this fandom but I also enjoy stories set in cannon/close to canon/continuing post canon. I'm fully caught up so no worries about spoilers. Aside from the Buckley parents, please no character bashing, either for any of the main cast, or the girlfriends (Ana, Taylor, Natalia, Marisol). I'm happy for any rating level in this fandom.

더 킹：영원의 군주 | The King: Eternal Monarch - I'm good with a variety of pairings in this fandom so this is a break to the just one OTP rule, in that everyone should date Jo Yeong. I would be delighted to receive something Jo Yeong/Lee Gon, or Jo Yeong/Jo Eun-sup, or Jo Yeong/Kang Shin-Jae, Jo Yeong/Lee Gon/Jeong Tae-eul is also good. I love Jo Yeong and his feelings and fealty and devotion and competency. I also appreciate Lee Gon's math nerdiness and his kindness. Jo Yeong focus is my preference regardless of what the pairing is.

괴물 | Beyond Evil - Han Juwon/Lee Dongsik are my OTP in this fandom, but I also love the characters of this show as a whole, particularly Yoo Jaeyi, Oh Jihwa, Park Jongje, and Oh Jihoon so if you find something focusing on one of them that you like you can totallly go for that, or a gen character study fic for Han Juwon or Lee Dongisk is totally welcome too if a fic with the ship isn't your preference. This show does a great job with grief, but also competency. I like the community the show highlights in the people who come together in the wake of tragedy particularly with the main crew around the Manyang Butcher Shop. This is a good source for angst in fic, though with this source I do prefer if it's a positive ending for the characters.

2022 - another pandemic year containing a move, only this time because we bought a house this summer (very exciting!). Besides embarking on homeownership a big part of my year this year was the shoulder/back nerve & muscle issue that heavily impaired the use of my dominant arm starting in late March. I was on reduced hours at work with no ability to do much of anything with my right arm/hand outside of work from March through ~ August. I’m still not back to 100% and have my little team of physical therapists helping me re-learn how to use certain muscles appropriately and getting a particular nerve chain to shut up and work properly. This has limited how much I’ve been able to cook, clean, and type this year (as well as a myriad other things it turns out require arm work). I probably could have done more with dictation but it turns out aside from writing work emails and texting/chatting w/ friends it doesn’t really work for my creative processes. As Twitter started declining I thought about posting more either here or cohost (which seemed promising) but mostly I’ve saved my limited arm use for other things (like fannish creations).

I was not consistently fannishly productive this year for aforementioned reasons, but when I was productive I was *very* productive. I was on a vidding kick when my arm mutinied, then did nothing but work and lay in my single approved position and consume lots and lots of media. So this was a year of watching a ton of BL of various countries and also a lot of K-dramas. This helped for the BL vid show I did for Fanworks this year.

After we moved in June and got through a lot of unpacking and settlign in I then started poking at vidding again but trying w/ Davinci Resolve instead of iMovie because iMovie made my arm worse when trying it. I hated DR at first but did make a few vids on it in the summer and I’m not unhappy with them. I then took another bit of a break before trying 2 other vidding work flow approaches in Davinci Resolve, and after hitting my full work hours in September I’m building up my ability to do both full work hours and some hand work outside of my job (cooking and vidding primarily being what I'm adding back in). So I'm getting more facility with both my arm and Davinci Resolve and have made several more vids. DR may actually wind up being faster for me than iMovie, we'll see.

Thankfully I don’t have to use my arm too much for podfic, so was able to record throughout the year with break only for the acute phase of arm issues in the spring. I’m very happy to be living in a house that we own because it allows me to control my recording space better sound quality wise and we don’t have noisy neighbors so I have basically gauranteed recording time every weekend since we moved, which has been great.

Fandom wise, I started in The King: Eternal Monarch, then added in My Country: The New Age and Chicago Typewriter, I started to drift out of those and wound up in Beyond Evil this fall, though with ITPE & yuletide recently I’m experiencing a resurgence of feelings for the first 3 as well so it’s not so much that I moved on as that those are all fairly small, quiet fandoms so I bounce around between them based on what’s being created but am still excited about all of them.

I'm always happy to be introduced to new-to-me music through vids, it's how I find some of my favorite artists and songs. Examples of music/musicians I like: Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X, Dessa, Griff, Years & Years, Oh Wonder, Vienna Teng, BOY, Be Steadwell, Indigo Girls, Sarah Harmer, Chvrches, Little Mix, Foxes, Tayla Parx, Haley Kiyoko, Carly Rae Jepsen.

คาธ | The Eclipse (TV 2022)

What it is and what I like about it: Thai BL TV Show. Khaotung is one of my favorite Thai actors so I was excited to hear about this series when it was announced, I went in vaguely expecting something supernatural which it is not, but wound up really enjoying it. The acting (as expected) is great and I've come to really love the characters, and it has some nice visuals too. In broad strokes it's about an authoritarian boys school and the experiences of queer students at that school. It functions as an allegory for a lot of things but also manages to be a high school romance drama at the same time.

What I want in a vid: I'd love a character study vid for Ayan, a character study vid for Akk or an Ayan/Akk ship vid. I'm not interested in a Thua/Kan ship vid, though inclusion of that ship in an ensemble vid is fine. If character studies or my ship aren't your thing, an ensemble or more summary vid for the show would be cool.

모럴센스 | Love and Leashes (2022)

What it is and what I like about it: Korean movie. This movie is a kinky romcom of a colleagues who work at the same office starting a bdsm relationship. I love Jiwoo and her dedication and commitment to research and wanting to be a good domme. Jihoo is also adorable particularly in his enthusiasm and they're very fun together. I found this film overall really warm and delightful. (warning: attempted sexual assault of a side character, not done by either of the main characters. Contains a non-consensual kiss between the main characters [communicate better darn it!], and probably emotionally abusive past relationship of one of the main characters mostly implied but some onscreen)

What I want in a vid: I would love a Jiwoo character study about her learning about/getting into kink and her journey through the film. A ship vid of the two main characters would be great. Unfortunately the first kiss they have is non-consensual (though handled way better than I would have expected) so I would prefer that that not be used in a romantic context within a shipvid (I have seen it re-contextualized in vids by being cut differently but I haven't been able to separate that from the source in my head so would prefer it not to be used as a romantic climax in a ship vid.

매드독 | Mad Dog (Korea TV)

What it is and what I like about it: Korean TV show. This is a heist / con-person team show with found-family/friendship feelings, kind of like a single episode of Leverage was stretched out to the length of a season with a bunch of added sub-plots. Starring Woo Do Hwan as one of our lead con men.

What I want in a vid: Unsurprisingly I'd be delighted with a character study of Woo Do Hwan's character (Kim Min-joon). There are a lot of Kim Min-Joon/Jang Ha-ri ship vids out there already, but I do ship that so if that's where your joy is, go for it. I'd be also happy to receive a Jang Ha-ri focus vid because I love her. I also ship Choi Kang-Woo/Kim Min-joon so if that's your thing I'd be happy for a ship vid for them. Or if you want to give me a found family/team!feelings vid that would be delightful.

What it is and what I like about it: Korean Movie. This was delightful nonsense, think along the lines of Fast and the Furious but 80s Korea. I enjoyed how colorful and fun this movie was they definitely committed to ~vibe~ as a theme, and while being tropey and not particularly deep or whatever it, for me, managed to nail everything I wanted from it.

What I want in a vid: Team feelings! Something fun and pop-y, like a dance vid, or just people having a good time with commitment to ~vibes~. They're all a mess but I loved them.

นิทานพันดาว | A Tale of Thousand Stars This show grabbed me and has not let me go. I love Tian and Phupha and their relationship (antagonism -> friends -> lovers = A+). I appreciate how soft they are but how they each also have their own things and also competency. I love the found-family dynamic of the village, the kids, Phupha's squad, and how all the side characters are such a delight (I really like Longtae in particularly). Obviously Tian/Phupha OTP so anything of them is good. I also appreciated getting to see different experiences of life in rural Thailand and also the national parks on the boarder with Myanmar, there's a lot of really good feeling of place in 1000stars so if you find a fic that leans into that you want to narrate go for it.

Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity | 阴阳师 | Yīn Yáng Shī | The Yin-yang Master (Movies - Guo Jingming) Qingming/Boya OTP. Another antagonism -> friends -> (not canon) lovers ship. Another great set of characters for competency. I also appreciate that there's space in this canon for self-worth/self-doubt and ostracism-experience for Qingming with his demonic heritage. I'd be down for case fic, ship/character focused fic, or magic/world building fic taking the canon and running with it.
