For those who are looking for me after my recent move from Facebook: well, you've found me.  This is where my quotidian remarks, -- confined, I hope, to the production of poetry, prose fiction, and technical discussions thereof -- will be lodging henceforward.

[The first line is a gift from monsieur Hetley; the second contains one of its many anagrams. The title is Russian for "Red Maple."]

Красный клен

Moon sets through maple,
putting those hormonal gems
firmly in their place.

Hazy fat old moon,
flood thy Amazon with milk,
with honey and dreams.

[As this is the first anagram-haiku since I pulled up stakes at Facebook and pitched the HQ tent here at Dreamwidth, I thought it appropriate to draw from my old goodminton partner monsieur Hetley for the first line; "flood thy Amazon" is one of its anagrams. The Amazon, be it noted, is for much of its length a wide river -- this fact, coupled with the last word of line three, produces a quiet offering of thanks to those who provide this relatively peaceful corner of the Internet where I can ply my craft undisturbed. The Amazon for me, along with other associations, is Elizabeth Bishop territory.]

... The elimination of the format I am used to working in over on Facebook has finally caused me to switch my centre of operations to Dreamwidth for good and all. I just renewed my premium account here this evening. I am currently without a working camera, but hope to have a new battery for the better of the two apparatuses sometime next week.

I caution folks (1) that once I again have the equipment to make photographs, I will be posting a picture of my meals once a day, and (2) that my intention is to restrict computer time to a quotidian hour -- limiting computer use was one recommendation the brain doctors made me last year, when my cerebral atrophy was diagnosed. FB proved to be a difficult site for accomplishing that limitation, what with the constant bombardment with items intended to rile me up -- my hope is that the un-force-fed and un-arbitarily-limited posting one does and has access to here will be easier for me to cope with, as my coping mechanisms gradually grow creakier and more curmudgeonly with the passage of time. I also hope to address any comments requiring additional remarks from me within a day of their being posted.

The food photo is intended to keep me accountable for my diet, and to establish for those interested in my continuing existence in this plane of being that I have, in fact, survived another сутки [Russian for "24-hour period]. The food posts will be public, but I expect my practice of making most of what I write "friends-only" to continue, albeit using the Dreamwidth terminology equivalent to "friends-only", once I have mastered it.

We'll how this goes... Fasten your seatbelts, folks.

 Перед рассветом

Another damp day --
yet Andromeda's path shone
in night's go stone sky.

The title is Russian for "Just before dawn." The first line was provided by monsieur James Hetley; the 'y' of 'yet' and 'Andromeda's path' save for the 's' form when combined one of its anagrams. The third line contains a honkadori alluding to two sections of Basho's Oku no hosomichi. "Go stone sky" is the happy discovery of the late Sam Hamill, whose translation (Narrow Road to the Interior) I am very fond of.

Just as with Live Journal, I am here through the good graces of the long-suffering monsieur William Gawne who kindly provided me with an access code.

Thank you, monsieur Gawne!...
