Laurence Fox and Benedict Cumberbatch reeeeeeeeeally need to play brothers in something or other, I'm just saying.

EDIT: WAIT WAIT, HOW DID I NOT KNOW FOX IS MARRIED TO BILLIE PIPER. THAT'S HILARIOUS. :DDDD
panthea: Frankie Boyle; quote from David Mitchell (Little bears)
TVTropes page on Frankie Boyle say: "He has quite a charming smile for someone so evil."

Heee.

Um. I may have started watching Lewis? DAMN YOU, CAT, WHY SO OFFHANDEDLY CONVINCING.

Also, WHAT IS WITH LAURENCE FOX'S FACE.

("I just wanted you to know how grateful I am. Before I get drunk, so you know I mean it." ♥)

So, here's the thing, I really don't like streaming video because for whatever reason, my computer sucks at playing streaming video. So my vid on Vimeo is really jerky when I try to play it, when I can even get it to load all the way.

Can someone who's better at the whole streaming thing tell me if it plays all right for them? Or if that jerkiness is normal, or if it would be better if I uploaded a smaller file size? Inform me of these things I do not know!

Link for those who missed the last post: http://vimeo.com/27690318, password is 01 (that's zero one, just, you know, with numbers).

So, wow. I actually started this back in February, made the last tweaks sometime in May, and have just been WAITING since then. IT'S BEEN REALLY HARD, YOU GUYS.

This aired in Friday's Non-Attending Premieres show. Allegedly. Obviously, I wasn't actually there.

Massive, MASSIVE thanks to [personal profile] catwalksalone for her feedback and gratifying enthusiasm.

Title: Black Bullet

And as always, for those who are interested: lyrics )
panthea: QI: The island of reluctant but inevitable homosexuality (Inevitable)
Had that annoying kind of sleepy morning where I kept trying to watch stuff and get some knitting done, and then I'd wake up an hour later with no idea what happened. At some point I stopped falling asleep, but my day didn't fundamentally alter from there.

Well, I went out and bought beer for the first time since moving in. Not sure if that counts as a milestone or not.

One thing I did manage to successfully accomplish was watching all of Sirens, and oh my God, I love them ALL. And Ashley is just lovely. Lovely and gay and Scottish. And occasionally naked. And, on one memorable occasion, tied up.

I'm just saying, I may be interested in pimping, if anyone's interested in being pimped.

Dear Jeffrey Donovan: what is your hair?

WELL HEY.

panthea: Frankie Boyle; quote from David Mitchell (Girl with a gun)
DEAR HAVEN: OH, HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU.

Duke and Nathan, be cuter. Oh wait, you can't.

Audrey: be more awesome. Oh wait, see above.

I do wish I had something of substance to say, but pretty much it's just NEXT FRIDAY NOW PLEASE. With a healthy side helping of WTF?
panthea: Rifftrax: Look, where is this going? (Steeple?)
The only thing that could EVER tempt me to rewatch X-Men: The Last Stand is coming at last! Presumably timed to coincide somewhat with First Class!

(Which, I believe I have sadly failed to mention, though may have implied, has also been making me VERY HAPPY. I heart you so much, James McAvoy, you will always be Dan Foster to me. ♥)

I possibly shouldn't be quite so excited about this. Seeing as it means I will actually be watching the third X-Men movie again. But FINALLY, OH MY GOD.

Now if they'd just do the Wolverine flick....
panthea: Rifftrax: Look, where is this going? (Steeple?)
Oh, Fringe. You and your wacky grasp of Boston geography.

I'm just trying to imagine what possible logic would cause somebody to drive through Porter Square on their way from Brookline to Harvard. And then, having stopped in Porter Square, it would take an extremely fleet-footed individual to chase a person from there to State Street in about five minutes. If you're gonna use ACTUAL PLACES, you guys, would you try and make sure they're ANYWHERE near each other first? For me?

I also want to say something about a street fair on Memorial Drive, but then it occurred to me that they close part of Memorial every Sunday and I've never quite figured out why. Pretty sure it's not for a street fair, though.
panthea: HIGNFY: Paul's brain breaks (Brain breaking)
This may well be another case of me being late to everyone else's party, but: damn, Dr. Ben Goldacre, I would do you so hard.

And it's not even his giant shiny brain (although that's very much appreciated) or his adorable baby face and crazy poodle hair (...honestly, I just love his startled-small-forest-creature expression in that last pic). I mean, those are great things, don't get me wrong.

But. Just. LISTEN TO THIS MAN SPEAK.

I'm serious, okay? DO IT NOW. He is SO EXCITED BY SCIENCE that he is APPROACHING WARP SPEED. IT MAY BE THE CUTEST THING I'VE SEEN ALL WEEK. Not to mention the VERY FIRST THING he says after coming onstage: "Look, sorry, I talk a bit quickly, somebody on Twitter last night said it was like being skullfucked with my data-cock, I don't know what that means...."

("A bit quickly." SLIGHT UNDERSTATEMENT.)

(Also, data-cock.)

SO THERE'S THAT.

DEAR ALLAN HAWCO, HOW ARE YOU THE MOST ADORABLE.

DEAR PAUL GROSS, HOW ARE YOU GENUINELY STILL AWESOME. I AM SERIOUSLY ASKING. HOW.

...oh god, somebody please tell me this show is coming back. PLEASE.

WAHEY

EVERYONE WHO DIDN'T TELL ME PAUL GROSS WAS IN THE SEASON FINALE OF REPUBLIC OF DOYLE, YOU ARE ALL FIRED

HE IS "A DANGEROUS MAN FROM [JAKE'S] PAST"

I'LL JUST BET HE IS

panthea: Frankie Boyle; quote from David Mitchell (Stark)
Among my big giant list of geographic subdivisions to map, today I got, I kid you not: Harlan County, Kentucky.

(And also some other one that was fannishly significant in some way, though clearly not that exciting because I can't remember what it was now.)

I may have some difficulty waiting till the season's over to finish watching Justified. This could be the show that actually drags me back to regular once-a-week TV viewing. DAMN YOU, OLYPHANT, YOU AND YOUR HOTNESS BOTH.

Thinking I'm gonna need an icon soon.

EDIT: And on a completely different note, Ross Noble is entirely too funny and needs to stop now before I injure myself.
panthea: Frankie Boyle; quote from David Mitchell (Girl with a gun)
So I've finished all the Justified episodes to date; now to attempt to not watch for the next seven weeks, so I can catch up with the back half all in one go. That's kinda how I get my kicks these days. Watching TV as it's broadcast is for suckers.

But I've sort of caught the mood, and also the Timothy Olyphant fangirling bug, so I'm moving on to Deadwood next. And, you know, I genuinely don't want to start watching till tomorrow night at least, and probably Saturday more realistically, when I will have both the time and the mental fortitude to really get into it. But I'm so obsessed with the idea of watching it that it is, like, actively distracting me during the day. I had to keep an extra tab open to Wikipedia today, so in between mappings I could read all about the real Deadwood and everyone who lived there and everything they actually did, just to, you know, calm the urge.

I am being distracted at work by thoughts of a show I haven't even started watching yet. There's no way it's going to live up to the mental hype I've given it, is there? (Please tell me there is. I am, at this point, massively invested in it being as awesome as everyone says it is.)

OH WELL, 24 HOURS LEFT TO SUFFER THROUGH.

Also: the gym is closed tomorrow. And I really, really need to remember that, or else I'll be turning up at work an hour early and completely unshowered, and that's just not useful to anybody. Kind of like a sheep full of dead ducks.
panthea: Frankie Boyle; quote from David Mitchell (Trouble)
...ahaha. I downloaded the Justified theme song from iTunes and it suggested I might like a Christian Kane song as well. Really, iTunes? Are you sure?
panthea: Charlie Jade: Charlie and 01 (Kneeling)
Just to say, in case you were wondering, anyone who isn't watching Justified needs to start, like, right the hell now.

And it may just be because it's on my mind lately, but the show's reminding me a lot of Charlie Jade, oddly. Or maybe just the character dynamics, because the shows themselves aren't really that similar at all, except for both having a strong sense of an atypical location. But Raylan's kind of like Charlie, except with a hat and, you know, manners. And Boyd is so like 01: fucked in the head and a generally distasteful character, except in the way where he's so bizarrely likeable and just has this burning physicality about him. And also his family is responsible for all kinds of crazy shit. And they've got that same weird relationship where Boyd's all "what up, sweetheart?" and Raylan's all "omfg I hate you" and I'm all ♥!

Or maybe I'm just making tenuous connections because it makes me happy. WHATEVER, I'M NOT KIDDING, WATCH THIS SHOW.
panthea: You Have Been Watching: Charlie Brooker (ISWYDT)
So I've sort of had "Jonestown" by the Morgans stuck in my head all day, and I couldn't figure out why, because it's been ages since I've listened to it. And then I got in my car and put on the mp3 player, and realized-- it's because I'd been listening to So Wrong It's Right, and the theme music... kind of sounds like that song? Like, sped up and significantly peppier, but you know, it's similar enough to get the song stuck in my head.

I kind of feel like Charlie Brooker might appreciate that, somehow.
