🌿 A milestone worth celebrating at the Green Property Summit 2026. Te ia - 42 Ponsonby Road was recognised for achieving New Zealand's first Green Star Buildings NZ Designed Review on track for certification. This achievement reflects years of vision, commitment and collaboration. It also builds on an important first: Te ia - 42 Ponsonby was the first project in Aotearoa New Zealand to register under the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) Green Star Buildings NZ v1.0 framework, helping pave the way for the next generation of sustainable development. Led by Samson Corporation and designed by Patterson Associates, the project demonstrates what is possible when sustainability is embedded from the outset. With ambitious targets including reduced embodied carbon, lower operational energy use, water efficiency measures and responsible material selection, the project is helping set a new benchmark for future-focused development. RDT Pacific is proud to support Samson Corporation with Project Management and Green Star certifications, led by Simon Wilson, Manoj Kumar A P, Weylin Thompson and Pooja Deore. Congratulations to our client Samson Corporation and the wider project team, and everyone who has contributed to this achievement. Ngā mihi to New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) for recognising this important milestone.

That’s a wrap on the Green Property Summit. 🌿 It was a privilege to spend the day alongside people across the property, construction and sustainability sectors, sharing ideas on how we keep moving from ambition to action in Aotearoa New Zealand’s built environment. RDT Pacific was proud to support the summit again as Platinum Sponsor, and to contribute to the programme through “Real commitment. Proven results. From theory to practice”, a conversation grounded in practical delivery, client commitment and the evolving Green Star pathway. A special moment from the session was acknowledging Te ia - 42 Ponsonby Road’s Design Green Star Buildings NZ v1.0 certification, which is the first project in New Zealand to achieve this milestone. Congratulations to Samson Corporation, the project team, and everyone involved in bringing this outcome to life. Ngā mihi nui to New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) for hosting another valuable event, to our presenters and collaborators Simon Wilson, Manoj Kumar A P, Bridget Pyć and Marcus Bunn, and to everyone who contributed to the kōrero throughout the day.

We hosted MATES in Construction NZ in the office this week, and came away with a good reminder: looking out for ourselves, our colleagues, and our mates doesn't need to be complicated, it just needs to happen. Thanks to Raizor for a programme that turns that kind of thinking into practical support, and to MATES NZ for the important mahi you do across our sector.
We're incredibly grateful to receive a generous NZD $5,800+ donation through Raizor’s Insurance for Good initiative. As part of the cheque presentation at the RDT Pacific office, our team had the opportunity to share more about our work at MATES. We also discussed the importance of mental wellbeing and practical ways we can all support ourselves, our colleagues, and our mates both on and off the job. A huge thank you to RDT Pacific for choosing MATES NZ and helping make a difference in the lives of New Zealand construction workers, and to Raizor for creating a programme that turns business success into meaningful community impact.

Design & Build gets talked about like a single thing. In practice, the outcome usually comes down to decisions made early - how risk is shared, how cost and value are managed, and how much room the design is given to breathe. 🏗️ Get those right and it can be a great way to build. Get them wrong and the trade-offs show up later. Looking forward to seeing our Associate Director & Northern Lead Miko Brouwer on the panel at this Property Council New Zealand Women in Property lunchtime event, talking through the Design & Build climate in Aotearoa - the do's and the do-nots. Miko will be alongside Sarah Livingstone, Olivia Pearson and Lisa Curtin, facilitated by Jane Hill. Whether you're well into your career or just starting out, it's a great chance to learn, connect and hear from women shaping our built environment. Ka rawe to the organisers and event supporters for bringing this together.

The best civic buildings bring community together, and over time, become part of the city’s shared identity. 🏙️ That spirit is at the heart of Kirikiriroa Hamilton’s BNZ Theatre, winner of the Premier Award and Civic Award at the NZ Design Week NZ Interior Awards 2026. 🎉 Behind the restored façades of the old Hamilton Hotel now sits a contemporary 1,300-seat venue - a project years in the making for the city and the wider Waikato community. RDT Pacific was proud to support the project from early brief to opening night, as Project Manager and Engineer to the Contract. Ngā mihi nui to our client, Waikato Regional Property Trust, and to fellow award recipients Jasmax and Charcoalblue - congratulations on this shared recognition.
BNZ Theatre has been named the overall winner at the NZ Interior Awards, taking home both the Premier Award and the Civic Award. The Premier Award is presented to the most outstanding project across all categories, with judges describing the theatre as "a truly world-class performing arts venue," transformative in meeting the needs of its community and the wider region. “A stunning example of theatre and culture working together, the exceptional attention to detail, sculptural cantilevered stair and magnificent 1300-seat theatre coupled with a thoughtful re-engagement with the awa beyond have resulted in an internationally significant venue for Aotearoa New Zealand. “Its immersive interior draws inspiration from the site’s layered history, finding moments of luscious richness and prudent restraint as it demonstrates the level of skill required to realise civic buildings that both inspire and perform to a world-class technical standard.” At the building’s heart is a lyric theatre, hosting everything from orchestral and ballet performances to local musical theatre and comedy. The arrangement of the dark walnut balconies creates an intimate atmosphere in the auditorium – as though the audience is wrapping around the stage. The multi-level foyer features two monolithic timber staircases clad in beech timber, with magnificent views over the Waikato River. Walls of Hinuera stone serve as the backdrop to the late Ralph Hotere's iconic Founders Theatre mural, created in 1973. The large-scale mural references the Waikato River, the multitude of activities that take place in a theatre, and the seven heavens, or the Matariki star cluster. Our director Michael Hutchings features in Bayleys Commercial' latest Industrial Workplace portfolio, out today. In "Unlocking the Cube," Michael talks about the shift toward taller, smarter industrial buildings, and why early, independent advice matters as occupiers plan for efficiency and automation-readiness. RDT Pacific is an independent project and cost management consultancy that's been advocating for our clients since 1943. We sit squarely on the occupier's side of the table, not the contractor's, so every decision is driven by what the business actually needs. As Michael puts it: "The cheapest time to change a building is while it's still a drawing." Alongside insights from Scott Campbell (Bayleys Real Estate) on occupier demand for smarter, higher-performing warehouses, and Jack Boxall (Auckland Racking & Shelving Solutions) on getting compliance right from day one. Ngā mihi to the team at Bayleys for the opportunity to contribute. Read the article here👇 https://lnkd.in/eJ7DtSuV

A significant milestone has been reached at the Auckland District Court Remediation Project - Practical Completion of Separable Portion 2 (SP2).🏛️ SP2 covered seismic and end-of-life remediation works across the Tower levels, delivered while maintaining day-to-day court operations within a live, complex, multi-PCBU environment. Getting there took real discipline around safety, sequencing, and coordination across every organisation involved. RDT Pacific continues to serve as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on this programme. Kudos to our project team David Prentice, Ben Dalton, Rahul Menon, Seaghan Dorrity and Josh White - for the steady mahi that helped keep this milestone on track. A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed to this outcome, including the Project Control Group representatives Alasdair Nelson, David Foley from Ministry of Justice - New Zealand; Martin Shelton, Rhett Calvert and Ati Collins from Crown Infrastructure Delivery Ltd; Matthew Hindle, Richard Murray, Jason Gardien and Chris Keyser from LT McGuinness Ltd. (Contractor); Grainne Cronin and Fady Talab from WSP (Designers); Michael Ward from TSA Riley (Independent Certifier); Brett Zeiler, Ian Chamberlain and Chia Yuan Heng from White Associates Ltd (Quantity Surveyors) - along with the wider teams behind the scenes. With SP2 complete, the team is now progressing Separable Portions 3 and 4, including custodial upgrades, courtroom refurbishments, vertical stack replacements, and plantroom commissioning. 📖 Read more about safety culture on this project: https://lnkd.in/ehnHX-RX
