About us

The New Zealand Sustainable Initiatives Trust (NZSIT) is a youth-focused non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young people to turn sustainability awareness into meaningful action. Through structured programmes, volunteer pathways, and cross-sector partnerships, NZSIT connects students, communities, businesses, and NGOs to deliver practical sustainability and community initiatives across Auckland and wider New Zealand. Since its establishment, NZSIT has built a growing, multicultural youth network, supporting campus engagement, zero-waste initiatives, environmental education, and youth-led innovation projects. Our work helps organisations engage purpose-driven talent while enabling young people to develop real-world skills and leadership experience. Our mahi focuses on creating measurable social and environmental impact by: Empowering youth leadership and participation Delivering action-driven sustainability education Activating multicultural student and community networks Supporting CSR and ESG-aligned partnerships We believe in building structured pathways that connect awareness, action, and impact — helping shape a more sustainable and inclusive future for Aotearoa New Zealand.

    It’s Conservation Week — a time to celebrate and protect the places we love 🌿 Through our ngahere programme, thousands of native plants are grown at Ātiu Creek before being transferred to regional parks during winter, where they’re planted to help rejuvenate the land and restore Auckland’s natural environment.
