Flatworks recently poured the internal post-tensioned slab on grade for the new Century Yuasa Batteries warehouse at Newbridge Estate in Wiri, currently under construction by Macrennie Commercial Construction Ltd   The concrete floor slab is one of the most critical elements of any industrial or warehouse building. It's the one building component that every person, every piece of equipment, and every pallet load interacts with every single day. For logistics and warehouse operations in particular, floor flatness and structural performance directly affect the efficiency and safety of materials handling equipment, racking systems, and increasingly, the automated systems that modern distribution facilities depend on. Getting it right at the construction stage is essential as remediation after the fact is costly and disruptive – and this is what Flatworks specialise in.   The slab was designed and constructed entirely by Flatworks - a high-performance Post-Tensioned slab with no movement joints, poured to FM1 flatness tolerance. Flatworks recently completed our first slab pour at the new CDB Group Warehouse project in the Spedding Industrial development — a 120m² tank slab that marks the beginning of our largest project to date, for our great client Haydn & Rollett.   It's the first of many slabs we'll be constructing on this project over the coming months. Flatworks’ scope includes: 🔹 High-performance fibre-reinforced internal warehouse floor slabs 🔹 Durable external Combi slabs 🔹 Polished concrete in the office areas 🔹 High-tolerance mezzanine slab engineered to support automated logistics equipment and AMRs.   Each slab type brings its own set of challenges and requirements — exactly the kind of varied, technical projects that Flatworks specialise in.
