While out hunting one day, his home was attacked by minions of the wicked Queen, and he returned to find his beloved Sarah dead. Without her, he soon lost his way again, falling into gambling and drink until he crossed paths with a traveling carnival...owned by dwarves to whom he owed a small fortune. He would have been killed were it not for one of the dancers in the show, a dark beauty by the name of Snow White.
Her intervention saved his life, and he has since settled with the dwarves by working for them whenever they are within the range of his village, roughly four or five times a year...and to help protect the girl he now knows to be the princess sought by Queen Ravenna, for he feels he owes a debt to her as well. When the carnival is not around, he struggles to keep his head out of the bottle, and works honestly when he can.
