One takeaway from our recent GCD&C Q2 Town Hall in Waterloo: the future of customer experience will be shaped by how well we collaborate. As AI accelerates, technology evolves, and customer expectations continue to rise, one thing remains constant - the power of working as One Mastercard. Bringing together technology, operations, product, and regional teams is how we'll continue delivering resilient, seamless experiences for customers around the world. The presentations from my colleagues reinforced that innovation, adaptability, and collaboration will be key to navigating what's next. I am grateful for the conversations, insights, and opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the globe and excited to carry this momentum into the second half of 2026.

Mastercard has appointed Yasemin Bedir as President of its Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) region, effective September 1, 2026. Based in the United Arab Emirates, Bedir will lead Mastercard’s operations across 81 countries and join the company’s Management Committee. With 20 years of experience at Mastercard, Bedir brings deep expertise in payments, technology and regional leadership to the role. Her appointment is another notable example of women taking on influential leadership positions in the global financial and technology sectors. ​The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI) launched three new digital payment initiatives to make payments more accessible, convenient, and responsive to the needs of Filipinos. In a ceremony held at the BSP Head Office on 29 July 2026, the BSP and the PPMI launched Direct Debit PH, and the interoperable initiatives InstaPay Cash-In and InstaPay for Business. Direct Debit PH allows customers to authorize billers to automatically collect payments from their accounts on scheduled due dates. InstaPay Cash-In allows users to fund their own account or e-wallet by sending a request for funds from their originating financial institution, using the digital platform of their receiving financial institution. InstaPay for Business increases maximum transfers by registered business by 10 times from PHP50,000 to PHP 500,000. https://lnkd.in/gdf_G9wH

We attended the ONE event last week wherein the BSP unveiled the newest addition to the National Retail Payments System (NRPS) which is Direct Debit PH, the country’s first mandate-based “pull” payment system. We started work on this in 2023, during my term as the Chairman of the PESONet Steering Committee, initially thinking that it would be cleared through PESONet. The primary purpose is to reduce checks that are currently warehoused with the big banks, driving up paper usage to as much as 140 million checks annually. The success of similar “pull” payments in other markets inspired the creation of Direct Debit PH. The support of the 2 largest banks in the country has opened up their more than 30 million customers, to the rest of the world. As soon as word got out, more banks lined up wanting to join the newest ACH. The next challenge is to create awareness and educate the consumers in allowing debits against their accounts, something you might do for merchants or billers you trust, or for those that are necessities. In the past, you would allow your local gym to charge your credit card, every month. All the best to the PNPI and the new Steering Committee for Direct Debit PH. The BSP also launched InstaPay with three initiatives that promote adoption and usage. The new QR PH for merchant payments (under the Scan Na All tag line) and the P2P InstaPay, with the distinction that the former is free to use for consumers and the latter may have a fee (considering that most banks have waived fees). The visual distinction is important to ensure that the consumers are able to decipher which one is free, and which one may have a fee. The Cash-In feature that allows a “pull” from a linked bank account, this time with no mandate required. This is especially useful for electronic money wallet top ups, as needed and on demand. Once the account is linked to the ewallet app, the user can “pull” funds from his bank account and fund his ewallet. This delivers a single seamleas user experience without having to leave the ewallet app. Lastly, InstaPay for Business, a use case that is close to my heart. During my time as a Payments Business Head, my corporate customers were clamoring for a 24/7 payment option that would allow them payments more than php50k. Kudos to the workgroup for getting this across the line, and I look forward to more participation in the future. Currently, there are only 5 participants. Behind all of these achievements are the hard working men and women that deliver payment innovation to the Filipinos. There is more work to be done. But for now, let’s celebrate these milestones as it brings us closer to the dream of being a cash-lite economy. #digitalpayments #neeNRPS

I 2013 reiste jeg til Kyiv i Ukraina, for å møtet firmaet jeg skulle jobbe for som partner i ni år, i en by full av talenter med ekstrem optimisme. Fem måneder senere samlet demonstrantene seg på Maidan-plassen, de holdt ut i kulda, fredelig, men det endte blodig, og en ny tid startet. Vi planla å møtes på Krym i 2014, det skjedde ikke. I noen roligere år etter 2015, besøkte jeg byen flere ganger. Jeg fikk tegne- og malevenner fra Urban Sketchers Ukraina, i tillegg til kollegene i Miratech, det ukrainske It-selskapet jeg jobbet for. Jeg startet å studere russisk språk i Oslo. Der oppførte vi til og med skuespill på russisk, og jeg reiste til Moskva på besøk hos venner. Jeg planla å seile på de russiske og ukrainske elver til Svartehavet med en kopi av et vikingskip som ble bygget i Tønsberg. Vi ventet bare på at et virus skulle slutte å plage oss.   Så ble alt delt i to i februar 2022, full krig, invasjon. Venner, kolleger, nettverk, kunst, litteratur, språk, ble delt i den ene siden - og den andre siden. En frontlinje skar seg inn i Europa, en kjøttkvern. Jeg håpet i det lengste, trodde ikke at det skulle skje, tok feil, og ble tom, jeg kjente frontlinjen i meg selv. Historien viser at splittelsen lå der, lenge, og volden var der, men skrikene på sosiale medier den dagen i februar, for de som hørte og så, var et punkt hvor alt håp raknet, for generasjoner. Jeg skriver ikke om selve krigens gang, men om splittelsen, mistenksomheten, deling i godt og ondt, oss og de andre. Det er temaet som "Han var krigen" kretser rundt. Vi følger Pavel som opplever det å være innenfor eller utenfor som noe eksistensielt, uten noe sted å finne fred, han er "merka"- som det sies i boka.   Har jeg fortalt at deler av handlingen foregår i trygge Oslo og Bærum? Men vi er ikke upåvirket. -- Boka "Han var krigen" er ute i hyller og nettbutikker. En roman blir en annen historie når leseren overtar ordene og setningene, hver og en vil ha sin egen opplevelse.
