A proud first for QuiX Quantum. QuiX Quantum has been included in the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship Top 250 for the first time, recognising the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands. The report also highlights a broader shift in the Dutch economy: Industrial Tech has grown from just 2% of the Top 250 in 2017 to 14.4% in 2026. Photonics and quantum technology are explicitly recognised as moving from specialised fields towards the centre of economic and industrial activity. For us, this recognition is not only about growth. It reflects the people, expertise and commitment behind our technology. “Technology may be what makes QuiX Quantum unique, but our people are what make our growth possible. This recognition belongs to the entire team — to everyone who brings expertise, ownership and energy to building something that has never existed before.” says Maarten Overkemping, Head of People & Culture at QuiX Quantum. Thank you to the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship for the recognition — and to everyone at QuiX Quantum who is building the future of photonic quantum computing. Forbes writer John Koetsier did a masterful job covering our achievement in delivering the world's first universal photonic quantum computer, Carina, this week, writing “Carina represents an important step toward enterprise-scale quantum computing.” John quoted our CEO Dr.-Ing. Stefan Hengesbach in the article, saying, “Other modalities will ultimately need photonic links to connect modules while preserving quantum information. Quix's approach is native to photonics, which means the communication and interconnect layer is not an add-on; it is part of the architecture from the start.” QuiX has always focused on delivering real photonic quantum hardware to real customers. With Carina, we’re building on that legacy, with a universal architecture designed to unlock the next generation of quantum applications. Carina’s hardware has delivered to the DLR Quantencomputing-Initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space as part of its Universal Photonic Quantum facility and will be validate and connected to the QCI Connect computing platform. • The future of displays is becoming photonic ⚡ Congratulations to Tim Tiek and the Brilliance RGB team on making their next-generation RGB light engine available for customer testing. Thanks to Jose Pozo and Optica for highlighting this development in this insightful article and video. PhotonVentures continuous to support the team as they bring integrated photonics to next-generation AR, automotive, and industrial display applications. #IntegratedPhotonics #DeepTech #AR #Automotive #Photonics

CALLING Optica CORPORATE MEMBERS: THE NEXT-GENERATION RGB LIGHT ENGINE is ready for testing. Details below. I spent a day in #Enschede, The Netherlands with Tim Tiek, CEO of Brilliance RGB, witnessing a small team turn silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits into a full RGB light engine, small enough for AR glasses and thin enough for a car dashboard. PICs have lived mainly in datacom and telecom for two decades. Brilliance RGB, founded about three years ago, is pushing the same platform into a market with far higher volume: visible light for AR/VR eyewear, automotive displays, and industrial sensing. The chip integrates lasers, waveguides, and sensors onto a single wafer-scale silicon nitride platform, replacing the lenses, prisms, and discrete lasers that make traditional RGB projectors (including IMAX) bulky and expensive. Why silicon nitride specifically? It couples laser light into waveguides with very high efficiency, which matters most for eyewear: a glasses form factor with a battery that has to last a full day of projection lives or dies on power efficiency. Tim's case for laser displays over micro-LED comes down to full colour, wide field of view, and outdoor brightness, though he's clear micro-LED still wins for simple monochrome use cases like sport glasses. The automotive angle is just as concrete. Today's heads-up displays run on LCOS panels behind the steering wheel, bulky and lossy by design. Brilliance's approach could shrink that by a factor of ten while cutting cooling overhead, and the same chip architecture could support ground projection as self-driving cars start signalling turns and warnings to pedestrians. Tim's team is already in conversations with Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs on that. Credibility is building fast for a three-year-old company. Google's Bernard Kress, speaking at the recent Optica summit at Corning Incorporated, has publicly called PICs a promising technology for next-gen AR/VR goggles, and Brilliance RGB is active in the growing laser-display ecosystem, alongside more than 40 companies now working on laser projection as a category. Brilliance has working prototypes, packaged chips, and active design studies with customers. The next test is scale: moving from hundreds of units today to the volumes consumer electronics and automotive demand, using local foundry and packaging partners in Enschede now, with eight-inch foundry partners lined up for high-volume production. If you're an Optica corporate member and want to test Brilliance's RGB light engine yourself, reach out to Tim Tiek directly by mentioning this LinkedIn post, or contact me at Optica for an introduction.

📣 Introducing Carina — the world's first universal photonic quantum computing architecture for customer deployment. This is a milestone we have been building toward since day one. The photonic quantum computing field has always faced a fork in the road. One path: architectures that could be commercialized quickly but were never designed for universality or fault-tolerant scale. The other: systems with genuine long-term scalability potential that cannot leave the lab, making real-world deployment impractical. 🧑⚖️ QuiX made a deliberate choice to solve both problems at once: Carina is designed to implement a universal gate-set capable of running any gate-based quantum algorithm — and to do so in a compact, room-temperature system designed for on-premises installation alongside classical HPC and data-center infrastructure. Carina brings key building blocks like photon generation, high-speed multiplexing, cluster-state generation, scalable integrated photonic processing and fast feed-forward control together. Into a single, deployable system. QuiX has always been the photonic quantum company that delivers real hardware to real customers. With Carina, we do not change who we are — we raise the bar. The shift is from special-purpose systems to a universal architecture that only QuiX is set to deliver. 🛣️ And we intend to stay the leader in delivering deployable systems. 📰 Read here the full press release https://lnkd.in/dQedkkEd 👇 Download here the white paper https://lnkd.in/dCzxJsEK Carina is developed as part of the UPQC project of the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Finally, Future of Computing is back ❤️ And this time, I interviewed one of OVNI Capital's portfolio companies. As AI processors get more powerful, moving data between chips fast enough to match their compute is becoming the core challenge. Copper interconnects are hitting their physical limits. NcodiN is taking a photonic approach to this problem. Their NConnect platform integrates the world's smallest laser on silicon (over 5,000 nanolasers per square millimeter) delivering 20x more bandwidth density and 50x better energy efficiency than copper at centimeter-scale distances. I sat down with co-founder and CEO Francesco Manegatti, PhD for our second conversation since NcodiN's early days. The team has now grown to nearly 40 people and is firmly in the industrialization phase, including a collaboration with CEA-Leti announced in March 2026 to transition NConnect onto a 300mm silicon photonics platform and advanced discussions ongoing with tier-one chipmakers (there might be news soon). Francesco also shared his view on photonics commercialization timelines and why he believes in-package optical interconnects will reach mass volume around 2030. We're co-invested alongside Maverick Silicon, Elaia, Earlybird Venture Capital, MIG Capital, PhotonVentures and Verve Ventures ❤️ 🔗 Link to the full interview in the comments. #FutureOfComputing #OpticalInterconnects #Photonics #AIInfrastructure #DeepTech Fabrice Raineri Benjamin Wolba
