Date: 2021-02-24 04:50 am (UTC)--if a canon lets me, i will have Equestrian Thoughts for days, and my NiF one is that Lin Shu was a superb horseman, and that he genuinely adored finding the most ill-tempered, fractious, badly behaved horses and specifically training them. And then as soon as they were up to his standards, he'd pass them on to whoever he decided was the Right Person, and go find the NEXT worst behaved horses in the stables. there's a sad oneshot in this hc somewhere...
--a friend of mine and I kept going "HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS" at MCS when he would reveal information, and eventually we decided the answer was ghosts. So now I have a plot bunny where MCS sees ghosts, and is constantly surrounded by his own dead. it spills a little into nif2, which I'm watching with the same friend, because Pingzhang has NO BUSINESS being that much like MCS.
--I've hc'd Jingyan as asexual since like halfway through my first watch, and i'm very attached to that hc by this point. There's a queerplatonic oneshot (or twelve!) in this, mostly bc i think i need to be the change i want to see in the AO3 tag.
--i simply believe that many of MCS's problems in canon would be alleviated by the addition of more devoted feral children. Specifically, I think he need a Meng Yao to go around and Know Everything when he can't be somewhere. I'd like (someday) to write a fic where MCS is accompanied to Jinling not just by Fei Liu, but also a handful of other terrible and horrifyingly talented children who unnerve everyone.

Nothing in canon contradicts JY being ace, so I can also see this really easily.

Also 'i think i need to be the change i want to see in the AO3 tag.' is the best motto to live by in fandom! <3
