Nine years ago [personal profile] silhouettes ported [community profile] more_than_one from LiveJournal where it had been active for nearly four years. In doing so, they hoped to carry the open and welcoming atmosphere their community embodied during its LiveJournal days here to Dreamwidth. By and large, this proved successful. This community, [community profile] more_than_one, has provided a place for those anywhere on the spectrum of plurality to share their experiences in a peaceful environment.

A few years in, [personal profile] silhouettes invited me (Sadie) of [personal profile] soulhollow and August ([personal profile] sandglass) to help moderate should a need arise. To our mutual surprise, that need was rare and far between. My duties have largely been administrative (editing the profile, removing deleted accounts from the community's membership, etc).

In light of the above, we'd like to thank you--the members of this community--because you are the reason this place grew. We've passed through periods of activity, as well as periods of quiet, and through all of such we were grateful to have you, the community of readers and writers that participated by sharing your experiences and, in many ways, yourselves.

By mutual agreement, [personal profile] silhouettes, myself, and August^[personal profile] sandglass have decided that [community profile] more_than_one's journey ends here. We've faced challenges over the years, but most recently: we're all working, as well as planning to move within the next few months. We feel that, with such constraints, we simply cannot dedicate the amount of time and attention needed to adequately run this community. Further, and most importantly perhaps, none of us are active users of Tumblr. Several months ago we received an influx of new members, people seeking an environment removed from the rampant 'syscourse' and harassment they faced on Tumblr. We were thrilled to have you, but as we lacked a true understanding of what you'd experienced on Tumblr, we were unable to adequately accommodate you. It appears the social and interpersonal engagements of the plurality community spans numerous sites, with incidents in one place easily impacting users across multiple social mediums. We were unprepared and, for this, we sincerely apologize.

As of today, it is no longer possible to join [community profile] more_than_one. This post will remain as a public sticky for the foreseeable future. With such in mind, please note that Dreamwidth plays hosts to numerous communities dedicated to plurality. If you'd like to continue engaging Dreamwidth's communities, please consider the following:

[community profile] allsystemsgo All-Inclusive Multiplicity
[community profile] plurality Dreamwidth's Plural Gathering Place
[community profile] highoccupancyvessel Plurality, multiplicity, systems, and people sharing a body
[community profile] plural_intersections A community for the discussion of intersectionality as it pertains to multiplicity/plurality.
[community profile] plural_geekery - A fun community for plurals involved in fandom.
[community profile] transmultiplicity - A community specifically for plural groups who identify as transgender. There are trans communities, and there are plural communities, but there are none (on Dreamwidth, anyway) for plural groups that happen to be transgender.

Thank you for the time and attention you’ve contributed to [community profile] more_than_one. It has been a privilege to read, learn, and grow together. Good luck in all of your journeys!

Sincerely,
Kalli of [personal profile] silhouettes, Sadie of [personal profile] soulhollow, and August ([personal profile] sandglass)
