The results of yesterday's polls have confirmed that 2) [personal profile] sionnain and her prepositionally-challenged compatriots are wrong in real life and b) that I will no longer the x-posting regularly to Dreamwidth. That means if you wish to read my randomsauce, LJ is where to do it. I will probably import every so often because backup is good.

In unrelated news: I keep getting emails about the deptartment formal Christmas party, which some innocent has dubbed the "Snow Ball." Because I live in the gutter I cannot help snickering every time I read this. I just. I'm sorry, I have maturity issues.

ETA: And if you didn't see it already, The Flowchart of Manpain. Very helpful in determining if you or your characters have that ~*~special~*~ brand of Angst(tm).

Gaaaaahd, WHY didn't anyone tell me that Bell Canada sucks out loud? And why doesn't any other company offer land lines in my postal code? *hates* And now that's I've begun contracts and shiz getting loose of them would be very painful indeed.

A girl cannot survive on a bandwidth of 2GB a month, bitches! *shakes them* I should have got the interwebs from Cogeco.

Also: this.

Also also: Happy birthday to one Mr. Callum Rennie. I shall picspam in your honour tonight, yesyes.

... Bye!

Packing. Packingpackingpacking. Who new I could accumulate this much shit in just a couple of years? Good thing I had such epic amounts of storage space here that I still have most of the boxes I moved IN with. Can't get rid of the old TV or the couch and loveseat for love or money, though. The TV is not coming with me, but the big furniture might have to.

Maybe if I get MORE stuff it'll be worth hiring movers some day.

In other news, somewhere on these internets are one or two Supernatural/Good Omens crossovers. C'mon. There HAS to be, or there is no justice in the universe. Linky?

Oh, hey, guess whose first publication was just submitted.

Yeah, it was mine. Deal with that.

Also, I have a pen shaped like an Eppendorf pipette. Clearly this means I win.

I've decided that for the time being I will direct all comment traffic to the entries on my LJ. Comments on DW will be disabled, the better to be able to delete the double posts and import all my comments at some later date. *handwavey*

Sorry to the folks whose comments got disappeared on my DW entries. If there was a way to paste them around, too, I would. But I figure better to do this now when there's only a dozen or so comments affected.

Okay, that's all now.

So! [livejournal.com profile] keerawa heard my whining plea and gifted me with a Dreamwidth account.

Nothing much going on over there at the moment. Just poking around before bed, and friending at random. Add me if you're yonder!

I suspect I'll spend a lot of tomorrow trying stuff out. I have already had the thought that since only my lappy has Semagic, crossposting from work will be awkward until the automatic thingy is active over at DW... hmm.

Anyhow, yay! Shiny.
meresy: (Fandom licks things)
So, hi. I was gone for a day or so! Hadda do the Easter Dinner thing down at the grandma's, but now I am back in the land of wifi!

Aaaaand... a lot of my flisties seem to be Dreamwidth-having today! So I finally hoisted myself over and at least got the OpenID thingee set up. I'll have to have more of a poke around, because while I was always AWARE of DW, I never really looked at it that closely.

Anyhow, is is all by way of saying I'm going to try it out -- either by throwing $3 at them come May, or if someone decides the like me enough to give me an invite. I shan't be leaving LJ, though! LJ will be my primary port of call for a lot time yet, no matter a) how shiny DW might be, or b) how many of my flist are early adopters. (I mean, first of all, my LJ is much prettier to look at.)

I shall crosspost, and probably import my LJ to DW if it's easy, but I'll keep the action over here. The flist is easy enough to manage in two places, but as long as the communities are the most active on LJ, that is where the creative end of fandom shall be. While I understand why the comms can't be moved, that's a pretty big knock against DW until/if mirror comms and new things really get rolling over there.

We'll see where things are at this time next year, I guess.

Anyhow! That's all boring Captain Obvious out of me. Right now my mom and I are going to make cheesecake, so I'm out. Eventually I'll do that English language meme thing Nos posted and you can all make fun of my accent.

Tah.

Over on Mark Ellis' Flashpoint twitter: Actually Hugh does his stunts as well and Enrico's and David's and Amy Jo's. He's just awesome that way ;)

I fully believe it, dudes. (Huuuuugh.)

In other news, DHL continues to to tempt my wrath. >:E

Eh, I don't even have a decent icon to express my ancestral Irishness. Also, I forgot to wear any green today, 'cepting my ever-present emerald ring. Fail! Doesn't matter, though, because you could not pay me to go downtown tonight and wade through the amateur drinkers, even if I could stand a pint of green Harp. Instead, I shall be virtuous and give blood today, so dumbasses don't die when they crash their cars tonight. Then I will sit on the couch in my PJs and do nothing festive at all.

But I will give you this joke, which was a favourite of my grandpa's:

Mrs. McGillicuddy was having the Father over for a visit. She was very nervous and hoped the parish priest would enjoy his afternoon. The conversation drew quiet and she agonized about how to improve this, so in desperation she said, "Father, would you have a cup of tea?"

"No tea," he replied, scowling.

She looked around nervously, and the silence grew longer. "Would you take a cup of coffee, Father?" she asked.

He answered, "No coffee."

Finally, nervously, she asked, "Father, would you have a little whiskey and water?"

And he said very firmly, "No water."

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

:)

I still has a Nos. We are having a laptop party again, for we are sooooo exciting.

Saw Watchmen. Without spoiling, I will say I liked okay, even though I never read the books and therefore had no context for some stuff. Stands on its own. I don't get why some folks are saying it is omgCOMPLICATED.

A highlight was totally the previews, though. Saw a long one for the new Star Trek. I am going to watch the HELL out of that. *wants* /nerd

I am currently... obtaining... Flashpoint and BSG off the tubes. Will react later.

Calling everyone who was in primary or secondary school in the 80s and 90s and played terrible video games on fabulous units like these ICONS (or not because aparently those were only in Ontario: WHO KNEW? They had ROLLERBALLS for a mouse, man. Look at this thing.)

Let's talk about video games!

All you American kids talk about Oregon Trail and stuff, but does anyone besides me remember the fabulousness of the Christopher Columbus game? I don't even know its actual name, but it was hours of fun in GLORIOUS 8 BIT COLOUR and I sank my ships a lot? Hrm, maybe it wasn't even on the Icons. I remember trying to discover the West Indies a lot in Grade Three, anyway.

The Offshore Fishing game sure was awesome, though. It had a fish-detector and everything...

Where was I going with this? Hm. IDK. Name me your most favourite antiquated computer games, dudes. Bonus points if you had to use DOS. /dooork

1. I have a new LJ layout! Check me out, dudes. :D

2. There is some sort of flash ad-based trojan virus lurking on some file sharing sites, most particularly Megaupload. (See this post for a few infos.) Macs appear to be safe, but everyone else should watch themselves when going to download anything.

Guess what else you did while I was gone! You gifted me with love in [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's Valentine's Game. I wouldn't have even known I was in there if [livejournal.com profile] malnpudl hadn't told me about it. Awww. *hearts everybody* (Though I totally spy some of the usual suspects there. I see you. ♥)

Now I will watch BSG, methinks.
