Oh zounds! The heat today was most oppressive! The mercury did climb to an intolerable position which ill bodes the later days of summer.
Perhaps 'tis the heat which makes it most difficult for me to slumber. Yesternight, I took a potent draught to ensure that I would fell into Sleep's tender arms, but, alas, it did not work. When I did succumb to Sleep's embrace, it was not wholesome, nor restful. Upon awakening in the morn, I was most tired and ill-tempered.
Mercifully, the day did pass quickly and after my labors I returned home to a cold dinner and many glasses of good, cold water.
I hope that tomorrow's clime will be more tolerable, gods willing.

'Tis Tew's Day again and the Rites of Cleaning House have been performed, although with less enthusiasm than my norm. The Outside(ugh) is Very Very Warm this day. It will be worse later in the week.
I have performed the usual domestic Rites, although the warmth has made me lazy. I have left dishes to dry upon the shelf, rather than wiping them down, and I have yet to complete the Rites of Laundry.
I fear,in the very back of mine brain, that I am courting misfortune doing thus, but the day is oppressive and all that I truly desire to do is lounge about and consume cold beverages.

The Moon

Tonight is the night of the Full Moon, the Flower Moon, named for the time of year when the buds begin to blossom into flowers.
Tis a fabulous moon, indeed, this evening, and, I suspect, part of the reason that sleep and ease do escape me. I took myself outside and was stunned at how bright and full the celestial orb was in a clear sky. It has practically turned the night into day.
I have always fancied the moon moreso than the sun. I have always embraced the night, moreso than the day.
Tonight is the sort of night where, once upon a time, I would have doffed my clothes and bared myself to the blessings of the moon's silver light.
Alas, I now live within sight of other folk and would not wish to cause them undo alarm with my naked strutting.
And so, I merely stood and watched and appreciated the fullsome moon, bright as any lantern, for a long while before returning to my chamber to scribe these words and wonder what dreams that marvelous orb will draw from the depths of my mind.

Up this morning and about my business first thing. In preparation for this week-end's festivities at Ye Olde Shoppe, I have been engaged with my magicae speculum most of the day, working Rites of Transformation and Adjustment upon images found in the Floating World.
Once those labors were done, I turned my attentions to the joyful labor of Writing and conceived a short vignette of dubious content which I have released into the Floating World. Whether anything will grom from this seed of story, I cannot say at this time. However, I have mine doubts.
And, now, I think, 'tis time to sup. Yesterday, I did buy vittles but did not consume them all and so I shall have them today. Peas of the chick with Jasmine rice, well spiced and served alongside bread and milk.

Up and about the house this morn, attending to chores. Boiled the dishes, swept the floors, beat the rugs, plucked all the weedlings growing out of the front steps, and am currently performing the Rites of Laundry. The last I could forbear for a time, but 'tis better to get a thing done in the present than delay 'til the future.
After this, I shall away to the Mediocre Market and purchase the day's victuals. And I should attend to the needs of mine carriage some time this week, as certain rites and ceremonies are needed to keep it operating in best condition.
And then, later, I shall scribble away at the joyful labor of writing, which I have been neglecting the last few days.
And so, onward, into the day!

I woke later than my norm today, as the week-end's labors did leave me exhausted. Twas a day of celebrations at Ye Store, and we were well busy all of Saturn's Day. For eleven hours, I strode about the place, attending to the wants and needs of the customers, with little real aid from those the owner had hired for the day. Indeed, those fellows seemed more interested in chattering among themselves like birds or washer-women. Twas most vexing and I shall say something to Master Jorg about it at some point in the future.
The Sun's Day was less robust of trade and I should have told Master Jorg to hie himself home, as there was no need of his presence at the place. And, in truth, he did depart early, which I was secretely most pleased with.
After the day's business was ended, I remained at the store for full two hours to attend to matters of display and organization. Only when I was satisfied did I take my leave, and return to my lodgings in the OverHouse.
The tree-ninja's body continues to lie in the back garden. I think it will be some time before the elements of nature whither it away. I may have no choice but to dismember it with an axe and toss the remains upon the firepit for cremation.
I slept most soundly and woke late in the day, after the noon. When I ventured into OverHouse, to break my fast, Master Jorg and his eldest son were deep in familial conversation and so I did not linger. I procurred some vittles for myself and, on a whim, acquired the Magic Ball and entertained Master Shadow with it in the back yard for a time.
Then, in a manner that is quite unlike me, I returned Outside, to sit upon the old stone slab at the edge of the fire pit and read a book. Eventually, however, the presence of Vile Insects drove me back Indoors and now I sit here scribing the day's events.
Later, I shall venture into the OverHouse and cook my supper, then retreat to my lodgings for the evening and amuse myself with a book or my magicae speculum, until I succumb to Morpheus's embrace.

The evening before now I consumed a plentiful bottle of Wine and, perhaps because I did not sup on anything weighty, I fell into my cups. It was a surprise, albeit a pleasant one, but my sleep was not sound. Throughout the night I did toss and turn, waking from dreamless sleep only to struggle to return to Morpheus's gentle arms.
Upon the morn, I rose and dressed and ventured Outside (shudder) and made my way to Ye Olde Comic Shoppe for the day's labor. There, myself and my comrades prepared for the morrow,, for the Day of Free Comics, which attracts a great many persons, some of dubious intellect and morals.
During the events of the day, I discovered that I had been tricked most wickedly by a fellow, who sold us a Transforming Toy that was not as it should have been. That fellow will find himself barred from trading in future, I can assure thee of that!
After the day, I returned to my lodgings after purchasing the night's vittles. My choices, I fear, were not as proper and fine as they should have been, and now I pay for my overindulgence.
Upon the completion of this scribening, I shall hie myself to the bed, where I hope to find quick release, for on the morrow I must rise earlier than usual and embark upon the Day of Sales and Free Comics.
Twill be, I fear, less profitable than Master Jorg hopes.

This morning, before I showered or anything, I ventured into the dreaded UnderHouse to try and track the Magic Ball. It vanished last night while Shadow and I were enjoying a spirited game of Bounce & Catch. I believe it was snatched by Mysterious Forces that live in UnderHouse. It was the third ball to meet such a fate lately, as we lost two other Magic Balls to Mysterious Forces near the Roadside Thicket.
Alas, my search of the UnderHouse produced nothing, and I returned to the OverHouse to shower and dress before performing the Necessary Rite of Laundering Clothes.
And then, there was Writing and then the Lesser, But Still Necessary, Rites of Folding Laundry and Putting It Away.
Afterwards, I ventured Outdoors (shiver) to journey to Ye Olde Pet Merchantile House to purchase new Magic Balls for Shadow. However, while Outdoors I did do battle with a Tree-Ninja and received a Wound upon my person from a Thrashing Branch Attack, even as I defeated the Tree-Ninja. I hauled his body into the back yard and sought to break it into smaller pieces with an axe, but he proved too tough and I left him there to dry and rot in the Sun.
I made my way to Ye Olde Pet Merchantile House and purchased the sought-after Magic Balls. On the voyage home, I stopped at Ye Olde Comic Shoppe and visited Master Jorg and Shadow, both of whom seemed in good spirits. I suspect it is because of the day, May the Fourth, a significant day in Master Jorg's personal beliefs.
And then to Ye Mediocre Grocery Store where vittles purchased, and then away home, where I sit, recumbant, upon the couch and scribe these words.
Soon, I shall sup and then return to the Art of Writing, as the day winds down and Lady Night draws her veil across the land.
