Originally from South Texas my life did not quite go according to plan. I had planned to become a political science professor, but the death of my mother during the last semester of my BA absolutely floored me. I suddenly found myself having to be an independent adult much sooner than I had planned. Eventually I would end up a couple of classes shy of my masters degree in special education. I currently work with teenagers with autism and aggressive behavior issues. It is complicated but rewarding work.

I am a 42 year old single lesbian in the Dallas Texas area. I wouldn't say I am shy and yet when I am out of my comfort zone I become a wallflower. Sad, but true. Not many people get me, but when they do it usually means a lot of laughter.

As far as interests go I like a wide variety of music and if I haven't heard it I'll listen at least once. I love off beat movies, old movies, and documentaries. Some favorites are: Bullworth, Wag The Dog, The Others, and Devil’s Playground. If you can talk ESPN, MSNBC, and The History Channel we’ll get along just fine. I’m an avid reader, particularly nonfiction and mystery thrillers. For some reason nearly all of my friends are deeply into Science Fiction, but myself, not so much. Maybe that means I love geeks ;-) I’m working on my fitness, and while I’m not where I want to be, I am making steady progress.

I am also an avid pistol shooter. I do not compete but would like to one day. I am not a hunter, I don't quite have it in me to kill Bambi's mother. However, I am a meat eater and feel it would be hypocritical to have a problem responsible hunters.

Being a gun owner and strong believer in second amendment rights as well as being gay makes for complicated politics. There is no one political party or candidate that represents a balance of what I believe. As I get older I get more and more frustrated with the state of our two party political system.
