Last weekend we had an afternoon tea party to celebrate my 90th birthday.  We were particularly pleased with the excellent service we had before and during the event.  There were probably too many of us for the space we had reserved which made it more difficult for the staff but they didn’t stop smiling!  Many thanks to them all.

We had a work christmas party here . I've always liked the pub since my younger days and can say the atmosphere and decoration of the place has definitely improved since becoming a gastro pub.
I don't know whether we were their first christmas party but felt like we were rushed between courses. The table was decorated nicely for the party but did notice there was no salt and pepper on the table . To which I asked and no one brought any over . It should of been on the table . To which I had to get up and go over to the bar to grab one of the one wooden box which was there .
There was no condiments with starters or mains . AND NONE was offered . I asked is their any sauces . Still none was brought put like cranberry sauce mustard bread sauce which you would expect with turkey surely.  Although we had two courses, I had the prawn cocktail starter and It was Frigging awfull. Made me feel sick. Trying to get the squirts out of the coke glass they were severd in 5 big blue things. Yuk. With poo in tail.
I didn't have the dessert but well when my friends sticky toffee pudding come out and was put on the table we just couldnt help but laugh!!! smallest plate with a kids school size portion for herself to tick in . To which she has one spoonful and pushed it to the side. I do wish I had taken a photo of the starter and pudding now ... but they were too quick to take it all away .
Lots of us had the turkey good size plate and a very good portion of meat with the veg . The best bit of the meal but just not enough gravy boats . 4 between two tables , there was 19 0f us . And no salt and pepper  to add a bit of taste to the veg . Not much gravy so made everything a little more dryer.
I don't think the pricing is right for the meal and as I said it was a work do so I didnt folk out my own money.  If it was my own money I would of complained and would of wanted to be refunded .
Disappointing food but a lovely atmosphere and good time with work colleges

Great traditional pub, plenty of seating inside and out. Bonus points for outdoor heating area too! Clean throughout. Dog bowls and treats so dog friendly AND welcoming! I just ordered two small bits from the menu and although just fried food, presented and tasted lovely so the chefs know what they are doing. Fantastic customer service.
