We have a wonderful choice of characterful rooms and spaces which are both highly adaptable for different occasions, and each memorably steeped in history. Please note that, due to the special nature of the Charterhouse as an almshouse for a community of older men and women, events can only take place between 8.00am and 10.00pm.

The Great Hall - 3D model
The Great Hall at the Charterhouse, London. The Great Hall was built by Sir/Lord Edward North (1496–1564). It is now used as the dining hall for the Brothers, residents of the Charterhouse. The hall is built from rubble-stone, some of which is from the earlier monastic church that stood nearby. Date: 1540s. This room at the Charterhouse, London was until 2000 the Brothers’ library. Before that it was called “Gownboys Hall, the dining room for the Foundation Scholars”. Source: the Charterhouse Guidebook. This large chimneypiece was installed in 1614 and was carved by Edmund Kinsman. At the top can be seen the coat of arms of Thomas Sutton. The Chapel at the Charterhouse, London. The entrance is through the ante-chapel and this area is the oldest part with the bosses and stone ribs dating from 1512. The first aisle of the Chapel used to be the monk’s chapterhouse. In the 17th Century the Chapel was extended with a second aisle and the large monument to Thomas Sutton was added. The seating area to the side was added in 1825 to accommodate schoolboys who were not Foundation Scholars. The Chapel can be visited freely at any time during Charterhouse opening hours.
