This channel is run by APS Support UK to raise awareness of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition in which there is an increased tendency for the blood to clot. The condition can cause low grade symptoms such as migraines, memory problems, dizziness and fatigue, but also is responsible for acute events such as strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli and DVTs. In pregnancy, APS is the most common treatable cause of recurrent miscarriage and can increase the chance of stillbirth up to five times. APS Support UK aims to achieve earlier diagnosis and better treatment of through awareness and research.

This half-hour course aims to educate GPs about anti-phospholipid syndrome, an autoimmune condition which carries an increased risk of thrombotic conditions and obstetric complications. Whilst it is usually diagnosed in secondary care, GPs need to be aware of APS in order to make appropriate referrals in those who meet the clinical diagnostic criteria. This course was developed in partnership with APS Support UK
