System Automation Corporation provides software platforms for licensing and board management. Headquartered in Maryland, the company has supported over 500 agencies and 20 million licensees throughout America for 50 years. The MyLicense platform — one of their web application products — was launched 24 years ago and has been a leading licensing and board management platform in the country.

To ensure ongoing business operations, the development team required a test automation solution that reliably protects their web application products.

Identifying a replacement for Selenium

The software development team was looking for a replacement for Selenium from a technical perspective, and also an affordable alternative to the commercial solution they were using at the time.

Selenium presents a bit of a learning curve, so when evaluating the next potential test automation tool, they considered ease of use as an important factor.

The team currently included one Quality Assurance engineer who was a former developer. With his technical programming background, Selenium would work for him. However, considering future testers who might not have strong technical skills, adapting to Selenium could be more challenging for them and affect the team's pace.
