"Life is full of little ironies - none greater than the fact that God decreed that gays must never marry - but then made them such great wedding planners." Hah! Though this is more about the governor of Rhode Island's veto of the legislation that would have added "domestic partners" to the list in a current law of people who could legally make funeral arrangements for each other - on the ground that the bill "represents a disturbing trend over the past few years of the incremental erosion of the principles surrounding traditional marriage."

Huh? The ability to make funeral arrangements would erode the principles surrounding traditional marriage? Does this guy have two brain cells to rub together - or one iota of compassion or human feeling?

But Colbert strikes again... "It might be time to bar gays from having funerals..." - but he's in favor of civil end-of-life ceremonies, so we don't have to watch those people flaunt their alternative death-style. :snort:

This made me all quivery for some reason: the first footage ever filmed of the small-eyed stingray, off the coast of Mozambique -

Great, uplifting anti-homophobia vid by a bunch of French bloggers (GayClic.com) to a song by Lily Allen (approved by her - see more info here). I'm kind of hooked on it; I've watched it a ridiculous number of times. They're all so cute! (NOTE: Lyrics not work safe!)

From yesterday's Washington Post:

So: I've never posted on DW before. But I've decided to start an experiment, for the moment at least...

Recently I haven't been posting much, or even at all, on LJ either. I have, however, been posting on Facebook. I've started volunteering for a number of LGBT organizations and becoming very involved with the LGBT activist community in my area (DC), and as part of that, I follow about a million (or so it seems!) blogs. My RSS reader is ridiculous. And I often stumble on interesting or funny or outrageous links, or things I just really want to share.

I mentioned/showed/talked about some of these links/articles/whatever to a bunch of fannish friends I was hanging out with today, and they were interested too, and asked me to send them the links. Well, I have been sharing these links - but on FB, and I realized today that many of my fannish friends, even if they're on FB, aren't really following it.

So I've decided to kind of..."start over" with DW, and use it, for now at least, not precisely the same way I've always used LJ, but instead as a way to pass on some of these items that I find interesting and relevant, most of which will almost certainly have an LGBT focus, whether they relate to politics, entertainment, whatever...

I figure a worthy beginning is a link to the Colbert Report from Election night (last Tuesday) he Nails a gay couple arrested for "trespassing" (ha!) in Salt Lake City over the summer. It's hilarious and tragic at the same time - and definitely worth watching until the end for the final scene (shades of Latter Days...hot Mormon guys kissing! ;)
