![]() ![]() Alexander Nathan Turner is the third of four boys born to Miles and Josefina Turner, a US Army Surgeon who met his wife whilst stationed overseas in Germany. Josefina was born and raised in Norway, working as a high school teacher teaching English and French. She and Miles met on a weekend trip to Amsterdam and they hit it off so well, Miles agreed to visit her again in Norway. They fell in love, and with Josefina having the skill of teaching two languages, she was able to get a visa to work anywhere in the world. So, when she discovered she was pregnant, Miles didn't hesitate in proposing to her and asking her to move to America with him when he returned from his deployment. Despite initially briefly living in Germany, they returned to American soil just before the birth of their first son, Evan. They settled into an easy family life in Chicago not far from Miles' military base and two years later welcomed their second and third sons, Peter and Alex, fraternal twins. At that point, they assumed their family was very much complete. However, about seven years down the track following Peter and Alex, their mom thought she was going through menopause but her symptoms were proven to be an unplanned pregnancy and a new bundle of joy - their fourth son - named Jace was happily welcomed. Evan was the only son who was the spitting image of their dad. Peter, Alex and Jace both had Josefina's fair complexion and blonde hair. They all did have very distinct and different personalities, however. Evan was the promiscuous jock who came out as gay when he was around sixteen. He was so popular in high school, there were no real repercussions, especially considering his mom was the president of their local PFLAG chapter. Evan loved sports, loved partying, and loved sex, but was focused with his schoolwork once he decided he wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps and be a doctor. Peter was the studious and high-achieving bookwork who became an Accountant, happily married his high school sweetheart and gave their parents two healthy grandchildren, a boy called Clayton and a girl called Gemma. Alex was a friendly and kind-hearted hard-worker who married way too quickly and struggled to find himself for a few years when he called his sexuality to question after thinking he was straight. Jace was more the chilled, relaxed, free-spirited kind of kid and liked playing with dolls or dressing up as a princess or a fairy, joining ballet class, and dreaming of being a cheerleader or a ballet dancer (spurred on by their cousin, Logan, who wanted to be a professional dancer). His effeminate nature was obvious from a young age, and his family never tried to stifle it. Even his regimented military father embraced the fact he had two gay sons attending Pride parades and PFLAG events with his wife, and if anyone didn’t like it, they could fuck off (and with a threatened rifle up the ass… he was strict and also scarily protective of his family). Jace might have been unplanned, but he was never unwanted and as the baby of the family, he was doted on. With a military father and a traditional school teacher mother, their upbringing was somewhat regimented but loving. It meant they raised their children with good manners, values, and respect. However, still typical boys, nonetheless. It would be a tragedy that rocked their entire family when Jace was 9 years old and Alex in his last year of high school when Jace Jace was hit by a car. The driver was high on drugs and had alcohol in her system, she sped through a pedestrian crossing near the school when Jace was crossing the road with the right of way. He suffered multiple injuries, most of which eventually healed, but the brain injury was something that would come to impact on the rest of his - and his family's - life. It was impossible to tell what the long-term outcome would be for some time, but during his long stay in hospital where he missed over a year of school and ended up being homeschooled by his mother, he began to have these weird turns where he would seem to abruptly haze out on people, stare into space, seemingly catatonic. Doctors initially thought it was post-traumatic stress disorder, but Jace had no actual memory of the accident and he never would either. It turned out that Jace had a form of epilepsy caused by the brain injury. Temporal Lobe Epilepsy with Complex Partial Seizures which were unlike the general understanding of what a seizure is. He doesn’t convulse or shake, he just goes into a catatonic-like state, almost like sleep-walking. He is unconscious to his surroundings, and never remembers them once they happen. In the early stages, they were quite severe, and with Evan having a massive protective streak and soft spot for his little brother, he took a heavy blow seeing him so incapacitated. After the accident, Jace had some learning difficulties and struggled with his schooling. He never managed to pass high school and had to give up the physical things he loved like ballet, and he never had a chance of being a cheerleader because he was homeschooled for the rest of his school days. It did, however, draw out quite a creative talent in him, and he would draw ink designs all over everything, or sketch beautiful patterns with a simple medium like coloured pencils. It was what ultimately helped him strengthen his brain after the injury, but he wasn’t ever destined for college. When he was 18, he moved out of home to go live with Evan in New York, just to give him more options of figuring out what he wanted to do and how that balanced with what he could do. With the extremely close bond he and Evan had, he missed his big brother and wanted to be near him. Evan was more than happy to have Jace with him and took on the role as his primary carer. For his 19th birthday, Alex shouted him his first tattoo, and it was there they met Joanne Sinclair who was extremely impressed with Jace’s original design. That was how he came to decide he wanted to be a tattoo artist. In the wake of Jace's tragic accident, Alex threw himself into college as a distraction from the horror of seeing his baby brother so severely injured. He initially started studying Education to be a teacher like his mom, where he met a girl that he fell in love with and soon married. She started demanding children immediately and although they tried, Alex believes with the stress of Jace's accident and how much his wife was pressuring him for children, they weren't able to conceive, which would ultimately be a huge relief for Alex when the marriage failed and they divorced after only 8 months of marriage. Both Evan and Alex would go on to follow in their dad's medical footsteps, with Peter and Jace choosing different paths. Alex knew he married too young and rushed to make too many life choices in a panic following Jace's accident. He ended up deciding to quit Education, finding his heart was lying more in Medicine. It was the nail in the coffin of his marriage when he made Ivy League and scored a placement with Columbia in New York City and his wife had no interest in a long-distance relationship until he graduated and wouldn't move to New York with him. Alex had a distinct interest in Infectious Diseases due to losing a friend to HIV in high school (one who potentially could've been his first love if he had known he wasn't straight then), and got an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota followed by his first Residency in Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, which he applied for to be closer to Evan and Jace. Alex is a very hard worker and proud of what he has achieved. But he went through a crisis of identity with his failing marriage and had a brief affair with a man and cheated on his wife, something he never told her because he feared repercussions and wasn't ready to come out not knowing if he was gay or just curious. It was only after having the freedom to experiment that helped him realise where his sexuality laid and he first came out as pansexual to his family before having the confidence to fully come out. New York proved to be a smorgasbord of selection on the dating front, but he yearned for finding his soul mate and settling down in a happy monogamous relationship, unlike how his marriage had been. He had a couple of same-sex relationships, but the only one that ever really stuck was with Beau Watson, whom he dated on and off during his last couple of years of college when Beau was just a freshman. Ultimately, it didn't work out because Beau was a bit of a restless guy in general and his spontaneous nature was hard for Alex to keep up with, especially when Beau started seriously dating his best friend, Liam Morgan. After that, Beau was well and truly off the market and once he began his own internship, life just ended up busy and he and Alex went back to being friends. When single, he enjoys casual sex and hook-ups, and is known as a bit of a flirt at work, but everyone knows it's just his friendly nature. He has a wonderful bedside manner, and even though his patients are usually quite ill with what they are facing, it means the world to him when they thank him for taking care of them. Having both his brothers in New York was ultimately the reason Alex decided to settle in the City himself, having thoroughly missed them when he was in Minnesota. For his 19th birthday, Alex shouted Jace his first tattoo, and it was there they met Joanne Sinclair who was extremely impressed with Jace’s original designs. That was how he came to decide he wanted to be a tattoo artist. ![]() Alex is an original character for musebox/PSL, |
