...And then I accidentally Sailor Moon fic for kink_bingo. This square is not even close to my goal row! >:[ It took me three days to write the bare minimum of words, too. Oh well. Subverting childhood. Now at least I have something for amnesty if I don't finish those other things! \o/

So when I had that mini-rant (flocked) a while ago about minor pairings and stuff, I thought for a really long time about starting a minor-pairings-and-characters fest. I eventually put the idea aside because I was getting swamped with stuff and had hs_merlin to write, but I think now's a good time to bring it up and talk about it. Even though it's probably not actually a good time, considering I have work to be doing and pornathon to start thinking about (and eventually running) and there's BB going on at the same time--why does there never seem to be a good time to run a fest? XD

Anyway.

I'd like to run something like a prompt-and-fill (or prompt-and-claim) festy-type thing, where the emphasis is on minor pairings and characters. I think it could be really awesome for coming up with stuff to flesh out minor character backstories, fics from other-character POVs, etc. I've also thought of maybe coming up with an episode-reaction type chain of activities, where we take episodes and point out the minor characters in them and then have parties with backstory and make fanworks about them. The prompt-fest type thing is more what I'm thinking about right now, though. I'm not sure what format exactly it ought to follow... whether it should be an exchange type thing with hard deadlines or just a SO MANY PROMPTS, I WILL GRAB SOME type thing like springkink that is low-pressure but easy to drop out of. I like deadlines because they make me actually write things, but I don't want to scare away people who don't like them... XD;

I'm really hesitant about this idea though, because I get all squirmy thinking about what the criteria for acceptably "minor" character/pairings would be. I don't want a fest meant to celebrate often-overlooked characters to wind up being divisive/controversial/offensive/etc. Pretty much it would wind up being just... a non-M/A fest. Is that bad? IDK. D: I've thought about it and what I'd want to include in the fest would be:
- all mediums, duhh
- fanworks from the POV of / centering around any minor character (defining minor character as not Arthur or Merlin; Morgana and Gwen are questionable but I think I'd let them in)
- fanworks about any minor pairing (IDK WHAT THIS MEANS BESIDES NON-M/A. I'm not in a lot of non-m/a circles so I don't know if it would be offensive to call A/G a minor pairing too.)
- moresomes (you can never have too many!)
- genfic, because there isn't a lot of it ahahahhh (but if any genfic is okay, does that mean something like Arthur!pov genfic would be included too? idk)

...and I feel like this boils down to "you can do anything you want as long as it isn't Arthur/Merlin from the POV of either Arthur or Merlin". DOES THAT EVEN WORK?

This is all too confusing. POLLS WILL ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS. (LJ-people note: the poll is on DW because I can do polls there, but I still want your input. Because this will likely take place on LJ, because I like LJ.)
