🔵 For families, mobile money means greater choice, convenience and security — allowing them to buy the food they need, when they need it, while keeping their funds safe and accessible. Home to one of the largest refugee populations in #Uganda, Bidibidi is where WFP is supporting more than 40,000 refugees through cash assistance, delivered primarily via mobile money. 💵 Beyond supporting households, cash assistance also helps strengthen local markets and trade, while providing a more efficient and cost‑effective way of delivering assistance. Hear from WFP’s Emmanuel Omara how WFP is using mobile money to help refugee families meet their needs with dignity and flexibility 👇

El Niño's impacts extend well beyond the weather. Droughts, floods and other climate shocks can disrupt growing seasons, affect crop production and damage livelihoods. These impacts can set off a chain reaction, reducing incomes, increasing food prices and worsening food insecurity. But these outcomes are not inevitable. Because many El Niño-related risks can be forecast, WFP works with governments and partners to take anticipatory action before the worst impacts are felt. WFP has already triggered anticipatory action plans in 50 countries, helping communities prepare for expected shocks and protect their food security and livelihoods. Swipe to learn more ⤵️

The World Food Programme extends its solidarity to the people of Colombia following the powerful earthquake on 10 August. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this disaster, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the communities impacted. All WFP personnel are safe and accounted for. The Government of Colombia has requested UN assistance, and WFP is mobilizing support, with food stocks already available in-country and the capacity to provide both food and cash-based assistance as needs are assessed.

In southern #Ukraine, farmers are navigating a difficult reality: the combined impacts of conflict, climate shocks, and economic uncertainty. 🌱To help protect livelihoods and support food production, WFP is providing access to climate risk insurance that offers financial protection against drought and extreme heat. By helping farmers manage weather-related risks, insurance can reduce the burden of facing both conflict and climate extremes at the same time. As the leading UN agency advancing disaster risk financing solutions for vulnerable communities, WFP works to ensure that people have access to tools that help them prepare for, absorb, and recover from shocks before they become crises.💪 For farmers, that means greater confidence to invest in their land, continue producing food, and build resilience in an increasingly uncertain environment. 🌻 Swipe through to learn more. 💡 Imagine being able to follow every step of food’s journey — digitally and in real time. That’s what WFP’s Track & Trace solutions are all about: helping teams monitor food more easily and efficiently as it moves across our supply chain network. In Chad, one of these innovations is the use of digital stack cards, replacing paper-based forms with a smarter, faster system. Teams can now scan QR codes, manage stock digitally, and track food stocks more efficiently across warehouses. Hear from WFP's Biguedieng Mboup on how digital stock cards are helping make operations more efficient 👇

How does anticipatory action work in practice? Forecasts signal severe drought risk in parts of #SouthSudan, threatening crops, livestock, and food prices. WFP, the Government and partners are helping families act early, with cash, early warning, nutrition and protection support before drought hits hardest. Through WFP's Sahel Integrated Resilience Programme, nearly 4 million people across some of the world's most climate-vulnerable communities are building a more food-secure future. 💪🥬🥣 🌾 Together with local communities, WFP has restored more than 290,000 hectares of degraded land, improved access to water and nutrition, supported schoolchildren, and helped families become more resilient to climate shocks and food insecurity. This work, helping communities restore ecosystems, strengthen food systems and reduce future humanitarian needs, is being recognized at the DIHAD Sustainable Organisation's Humanthropy Awards 2026, where WFP has been shortlisted in the Sustainability category. WFP is also proud to be nominated in two additional categories: Visionary (WFP Innovation Accelerator) and Emerging Humanitarian Leader (Dickel Dia, WFP Mauritania). 🗳️ Every vote helps spotlight solutions that strengthen resilience, protect livelihoods and reduce future humanitarian needs. 💙 Support WFP's nominees before 10 August. https://lnkd.in/deXGwaJS
