Hello everyone, and welcome to all the New Feathers!

My name is Estelle, one of the librarians, and on behalf of the library I would just like to mention our monthly book club. The meeting will be on the last Sunday of this month, the 29th of January, so you still have two weeks to read. This month's book is-

[very suddenly, the broadcast is interrupted by the sound of something crashing to the ground. Estelle looks startled for a moment before standing up very suddenly.]

Excuse me for a moment...

[And then the feed cuts off. Actual library visitors, however, may find Estelle doing something strange... after investigating a pile of fallen books, she has started running from one part of the library to the next very quickly, following even more crashing sounds that periodically occur.

After a few minutes o this chase, she finally seems to have cornered the something in a back corner. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to want to come out from the shelves it's squeezed itself between.]

Please come out... I promise I won't hurt you.

[OOC NOTE:

Because of the move, I've made a new sign-up post for the book club. Signing up ICly can be assumed if you'd like. Also, if any characters are interested in volunteering at the library, please indicate here about their usual duties and how often they are likely to work. Starting work can be assumed ICly also, or of course, talk to Estelle about it here. ;)]

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful fall... Even if it feels like winter already, honestly. The snow is heavy rather early this year...

I do have a few announcements and requests to make. The first is that we are coming up on another meeting of the book club. It's next Sunday, possible experiments permitting. More information is at the front desk.

The second also pertains to the library. I'd like to ask anyone who may be able to place artes [this was written from habit, and then scratched out] enchantments on books to please contact me. I have a request that may not be possible, but it seemed like a good idea to ask.

[Later, Estelle can be found for a little while on the tire swing in House 12's front yard. She's bundled up in a coat but doesn't seem to mind the cold or the snow on the ground as she swings. She may or may not be waiting for certain housemates to come home.]

[This... isn't something she wants to write. But she has to. Ignoring the absences won't bring them back, and she owes it to their friends - their other friends - to answer questions.

It takes a day, but finally Estelle picks up her pen.]

As you may have already heard... both Yuri Lowell and Karol Capel have returned home.

As they were the founders of Brave Vesperia, I don't feel it's right to continue in their absence. Therefore, for now, the guild is disbanding. However I would encourage the remaining members or anyone else who is interested to create a similar group. I believe it's good for Luceti to have people willing to help others.

[but then, an afterthought.] ...Also... if anyone has seen a man named Aether, please tell him to contact me. Thank you.

[She knows he's left too, but with the cycle winding down... There's always a chance. A chance she doesn't really want proven wrong.

Estelle can be found at the library today, as usual... but her heart isn't in it, and finally, she has to leave. It's a hard realization. Once upon a time, books were all she needed.]

[The journal turns on from a jostled movement. At first it shows only trees and sky. Then it begins to pick up voices...]

Rita? [Leaves and twigs snap as Estelle kneels next to the other girl, reaching to gently shake her shoulder. The memories of the past while were hazy, but... She'd been taken, hadn't she? Then Rita, too...] Rita, are you awake?

[The shaking causes Rita to flinch. Her left hand instantly moves to rubs her shoulder, but just as quickly retreats once she does-] Ow, that hurt! Watch i- Estelle? You're back. Are you all ri-

[The speech turns to a hiss. Almost immediately, a soft magical glow lights up the journal window.] I'll take that as no... Don't move, I'll heal you.

... Thanks. [After Estelle casts her healing spell Rita will try standing up. Anticipating things to be all patched up, she'll put weight onto her arms but instead her right arm still stings in pain. With a jolt she'll hold it but continue to stand anyways.]

It still hurts? [Estelle seizes the arm, accidentally sending another jolt up it] That's not good... We need to get you to the clinic.

[Rita tries not to be too phased by it but is slowly trying to slink her arm away all the same.] I'm fine, stop worrying. Let's just head back.

[The conversation will likely continue, until they're interrupted or one of them notices the book...]

If dreams are today's topic, I had a very strange one myself. I was a princess, and Flynn was a knight, and Yuri was... [....] Actually, I don't think he had any sort of occupation.

But it was nice, for the most part. Like something out of a storybook. I felt like I woke up too soon...

Tell me about your dreams too, everyone!

[children and husband, she'll be looking for you later on as well. Everyone's been scattered with the festival these past few days.]

[These past few weeks have been hectic... but it seems as though things are finally calming down. Estelle is still mulling over several things in her head, but she can't allow that to get in the way of her duties. And it's become apparent that with recent losses, she needs to recruit more help. Today there is an elegantly scripted message on the journals.]

As most of you already know, Patchouli and Koakuma recently returned to their world. While I'm very happy for them... What this means for us is that the library is now short-staffed. This is an important resource that many people use, so I'm looking for anyone willing to volunteer their time. Having prior experience would be lovely, but of course the most important thing to have is a love of reading.

Duties include maintaining the card catalog, shelving, dusting, and helping our visitors. You don't have to work every day; even just a few hours a week is fine. You may contact me on this entry or I will be at the front desk all day today if you'd like to speak with me in person.

As another reminder, we also have a book club that meets monthly. There are fliers with more information that at the front desk as well.

-Estellise, Librarian

[As promised, Estelle will be at the library most of the day, only returning home at dusk. She doesn't head inside quite immediately though; instead taking a seat on the tire swing in the front yard, in view of the road, staring off at the sunset beyond the trees.]

It was nice to see everyone so excited over a holiday promoting love. We didn't really have something to that extent back home... It might be an interesting custom to try and promote!

The topic made me look over some of the books I've been reading. So many stories involve romance, even if it isn't the main focus. Even deep friendships can be romantic in their own way.

I was wondering, what is everyone's favorite love story? I'd enjoy hearing a few.

Welcome, to all the New Feathers! My name is Estellise - you are free to call me Estelle - and I am one of the librarians. Our library holds a large variety of books from various worlds. If you are looking for something to read or are missing a story from home, please give us a look!

Today, I would like to promote our monthly book club. We meet on the last Sunday of each month and discuss a chosen book. The book for this month is called LOVELESS, a fascinating poetry collection with a powerful message that was recently brought to my attention. I have several copies available at the front desk for check-out.[And Zack can go thank himself now.]

Anyway, if you are interested please stop by to sign up and check out a copy of the book, or just come on the 30th for our meeting. We serve refreshments. ...Membership has severely declined, s everyone will be most welcome. [why no, she is not desperate here.

Was there anything else? Oh yes...]

Mr. Ciel Phantomhive, I have something to ask you if you have a moment.

[Visitors to the library today will find Estelle busy hanging up a very large banner reading "Book Club, Inquire Here" above the front desk. Yuri said to put up a sign and a sign is what she is putting up. Notice it.]

[Deidon Hold has transformed over the course of the morning. After waking up early, Estelle began to drag mysterious boxes out of her room and place them in the living room.

The past two days were oddly blurry. For some reason, she can't remember doing much besides staying in her room and working on her secret project. However, she decides not to let that worry her, and begins to put her plan into motion. The opened boxes are immediately revealed to be full of tinsel, handmade ornaments and Christmas lights that she's collected and stored during December. There's also several large stacks of about every Christmas-related book she could find at the library. Her plan is simple - celebrate the holiday in the flashiest way possible, and in the process, cheer everyone up.

Eventually, the pink-haired princess can be seen outside -- on the roof, and... carrying several large boards? She keeps climbing up and down a ladder to dump more boards up there. Eventually she begins to set the boards up, revealing a Santa's sleigh scene made of painted plywood. The things pulling the sleigh look a lot more like Rhybgaro than reindeer (and are a bit specially drawn to boot, since Estelle did this herself.) Next she'll begin the second phase - hanging strings of Christmas lights from all the eaves, in the bushes and the large (non-pine) tree in the front yard.

She'll be working alone until anyone else in the house wakes up, and then drag them into decorating as well. If you're a neighbor or stranger walking past, well... act too helpful and you will too.]

[the situation this past day has been unhelpful at best and shows no signs of changing this morning. With that in mind, Estelle decides it's time to make an announcement.]

Tomorrow's meeting of the book club will unfortunately be canceled if this experiment continues; it would be rather difficult to have a discussion when people disappear partway through. We have new feathers and a number of old members have gone home as well, so I'm re-doing the club's sign-up sheet. If you are new or old and are interested in participating, please fill out the form!

Also, as a reminder, library books are a resource for the entire village to use. Please check them out and return them when you are finished. Also please do not deface the books. I've found a number with pages and portions cut out. If you have a pressing need to use books for such purposes, I am creating a section of damaged and duplicate books near the front that you may take home and keep.

[with that completed, Estelle will try to head to the library. Try is the key word. She may instead be appearing near you - or you near her if she ever makes it to work.]

[It's the second monster-free day and Estelle is finally confident things are fine. The destruction of the past weeks is nearly gone. To celebrate, she starts on an aimless stroll around the village, with no particular goal in mind. It's not like she has any place to be.

Eventually she makes it to the square, walking around the perimeter. She takes a glance at the library foundations (mostly because she knows Yuri would not let her hear the end of it if he returned and his precious books were ruined) before moving on. It's a normal day for her, but passerby who know her may notice something is off. She's carrying her sword, for one, which might not be that alarming, but she's also not wearing any pink at all, only white and earth tones... and pants.

But that's obviously normal too. Why would she ever want to wear a dress?]

[In this AU, Estelle's not a princess and swapped lives with Yuri. Replies will be with [livejournal.com profile] inabar for icon purposes. Blame Zero.]

[The entry is titled in elegant calligraphy.]

With the summer months approaching and so many people leaving us, whether temporarily or returning home, I'd like to ask for a count of our library volunteers. Please let me know if you are still available or if you'd like to help out, so we can work out a new schedule.

I'd like to try and put on some more cultural related clubs or events as well, since the meeting rooms are really wonderful with the new air conditioning. Maybe a craft club would be a good idea? Please let me know if you'd like to organize something.

And speaking of that, as a reminder, the book club will be meeting again next Saturday! There are copies of this month's book at the front desk if you'd like to check one out. I bring snacks to each meeting, too.

[With Yuri's departure, Estelle has been looking for ways to distract herself. Today she can be found in the library, working to enter a new batch of books the Malnosso dropped off into the card catalogue. It really is a problem - books turn up in all the wrong places, making it difficult to make sure everything is in order.]

[Estelle is on the front lawn, sitting on the grass beneath a large tree and reading. This wouldn't be an usual sight, but there are two odd things about it today. The first is that there is a tiny baby squirrel perched on her shoulder. It watches everything passing by with beady eyes.

The second is the journal sitting beside her. A small stone is caught between the pages, opening it just enough for it to be apparent that she doesn't have her mind on her book...]

(I still haven't told anyone... I know I need to, but what should I say? I'm not sure how Yuri will react...) [there's an image of Yuri] (Not to mention the others...)

[then the tone of the thoughts shifts]
(Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment: she looked up, but it was all dark overhead; before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, `Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!')

[It's still thundering and raining hard, so Estelle decided not to head to the library today. It didn't, however, stop her from going out - at least as far as house #12's front porch. A spring rain is too nice to watch from inside, though going out in it directly is probably a recipe for becoming ill.

Her reading ends up interrupted by a damp squirrel with a small cut on his leg. Apparently he slipped while venturing out of his nest. Estelle is more than willing to assist, but as she sets the book and her journal aside the latter falls open and begins to record.

The sound starts with falling water, her voice muffled as she talks to the animal. After a minute or two of that, she turns back to the book and notices what happened.]

--oh, I apologize for the recording. Maybe it would be useful to create some kind of case with a strap to hold the books closed...

But regardless, it's very nice to have rain after all the snow, don't you think? It even smells like Spring. Thunderstorms in cities can be very dark, but here they seem refreshing.

Has anyone seen Rita Mordio around? She has brown hair, usually wears a red mage's outfit, and spends a lot of time in the library. I'm... afraid that she's been sent home, but I want to make certain.

[And here is... a rather somber Estelle. Rita is gone, and she heard that kidnapping post, Hayato. :| But she's not letting herself dwell on things she can't change, and is instead making her way into town to the Welcome Center. She's got a bundle of scarves and hats with her as well. Deciding to take up knitting during the snowy weather has left her with a bunch of winter clothing items she has no use for, so she's decided to donate them for New Feathers. There's no gloves since she's not quite that good yet, but the rest should be warm and serviceable. Bump into her inside or on the way there.]

[The library is rather chilly in the winter, but Estelle does her best to keep it warmed, ensuring the large fireplaces are lit. Today a small group is assembled in the circle of armchairs and sofas around the main fire, though they have a restless air of a meeting about to adjourn. Noticing this, Estelle stands and makes it official.]

That's all for today's meeting. Feel free to stay and chat, if you'd like... there's still plenty of refreshments.

[As promised, a pot of coffee and pastries sit on the center table. Estelle picks up her copy of the book they just finished discussing (A Christmas Carol), and turns to greet the person beside her with a smile.]

[Pretending today is the day the meeting was scheduled for; the weekend was too hectic. Mix and mingle, threadjack, whatever! This is a chance to interact with others.

Also on the topic of Christmas gifts, if you're a friend of hers feel free to assume you recieved a set of embroidered hand towels. She put her princess upbringing to use.]
