Weekend Recap
Dec. 16th, 2019 01:57 pmHad quite the productive weekend. Friday was pretty nice as the family spent most of their day shopping, so I managed to get a bit done in Warcraft. At night we all went to my brother Danny’s house, where we ordered Chinese and just hung out having laughs and fun conversations. They were pretty tired though, so most hit the hay early. I stayed up pretty late watching Supernatural on Netflix.
Saturday they all left relatively early to make their long trek south to Florida. I’m sure we’ll see them again on their way back up, but we’ll all be off then so won’t need to take time off work. So yeah, though it was a short visit, it was sweet, and just the way I like it… No lingering :P
Saturday I spent most of the day playing Warcraft. I worked on the monk a bit in the morning trying to get her some gear, and then in the afternoon began working on leveling up my fire Mage. She was 114 when I started around 1ish, and 118 when I logged out at 4pm to get dinner going with mom. Didn’t get back on wow again, but Danny and I watched that Netflix/Michael Bay movie 6 Underground.
I’m the type of person that loves humor, crazy action (even if it seems/feels unbelievable—sometimes I enjoy that even more considering I love fantasy/fiction where most shit doesn’t exist that I read about, etc.) … so this movie was right up my alley. Ryan Reynolds was his usual hilarious self, but he played a slightly more serious role too. Everyone was excellent acting wise in this. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie, and I really hope they make a sequel.
If you like fast paced, constant explosions, humor, realistic gore … this is the film to check out. Yes, it begins with a TWENTY minute chase scene …but it's great. I laughed, I cried, I gasped… good shit. It calms down ‘slightly’ after that but it still has a lot of stuff going on the whole film. I don’t understand how some folks were like “there’s no plot…” There IS a plot. It’s a very simple one, but there’s a plot. I don’t want to spoil it, so I won’t say anything on the plot… but thoughts? Anyone else see it??
Sunday
Got up stupid early for a Sunday (9am lol). Putz’d around for a bit before I hopped on wow around 10:30am. Finished leveling the Mage to 120 by around noon. Had a quick lunch and started immediately working on leveling the rogue, who was level 112 when I logged in. Since I spent most of the day in the game, I did get her to level 120 by 11:40pm … mission accomplished! Hahah.
I did take a four-ish hour break between there. Nelson, Trisha and Amalia came over to Danny’s for the afternoon/dinner. Got to spend quality time with my baby! Her two top teeth are now coming in and poor thing is suffering ): Her cheeks were so rosy and she as somewhat grumpy most of the time, but we still got some great giggles out of her and she was in pretty good spirits for about 30 minutes after her nap :P
She’s a baby, we know she won’t be giggles all the time … which I think is what my sis-in-law Trish wants her to be around everyone else… she really thinks we can’t handle the screaming but we can. It’s why she’s so afraid to let others watch her except her aunt (who’s babysat all the kids in their family for many years).
They left about 6pm, and I sat around with Danny watching the second half of The Dark Tower (repeat for us), before leaving around 7ish myself. I understand why some people didn’t like The Dark Tower –they read the books and it didn’t match up well… but as someone who never read the books I loved that movie and really wish they’d made a second one. Idris Elba was great as gunslinger… wish he’d do it again!
Got home, put crap away and then continued to the grind to 120 on the rogue … which I finished before midnight and then hit the hay. I was pretty tired for sitting around all day LOL. OH! We did also put up the tree at Danny’s house (finally, I know). Picture below (from cell so not best quality). No presents yet under the tree as they’re not wrapped yet ha-ha.

Today
Back to the grind today. Of course this past weekend flew so it doesn’t even feel like I had a day off. I hate that feeling. Hopefully this upcoming break feels like an actual BREAK. *sigh*
We have our holiday party today over at the president’s house. I plan to head over around 4pm (it starts at 3), so I can just bounce at 5 straight from there. I’m wearing my reindeer headband and I’m the only one other than Michael who’s festive lol. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments though, so *shrug*. I don’t feel at all weird about it.
My old boss has done absolutely nothing today. We had our typical Monday community meeting and that ended at about 9:45am … she has not stopped babbling with this coworker since then and it’s almost noon. She gets away with crap like this ALL THE TIME. When he finally leaves, she’ll then try to come out here and engage me in chatter (which I give her zero mind). It’s like … GET WORK DONE! I know she has work cuz I’m still copied on the old office emails, and stuff came through this weekend she’s gotta do but hasn’t even touched yet.
I don’t get how folks like her constantly get away with this crap.
Christmas
I cannot believe it’s in just over a week. Where the hell did this past year go?! I think we’re building a gingerbread house on Sunday to have it ready for Christmas day, so that will be fun! I still have to come in to work on the 23rd or else I’d just stay at Danny’s house (which is where we will be staying over the break). I already told the GM of the guild I won’t be raiding until after the New Year since this week I have to do last minute shopping/hanging out with some friends, next week is Christmas and then the following one is New year’s… time flies man!
It’s been many years since I’ve been excited for Christmas. Even before dad passed away (almost 4 years ago… geez…) he was pretty sick for three years, almost four, and so it’s been almost a decade since I have had any real joy for the holiday (when it was my favorite). It’s slowly coming back, and mostly because I’ve come to terms with my father’s passing and knowing that he wouldn’t want me to live in constant sadness. That I can still take joy in these things, and still live.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s hard still. I miss him like crazy and think about him all the time … but they’re typically happier thoughts and wonderful memories, and those bring tears to my eyes, but typically of joy… that I was lucky enough to have the time I did have with him and that he was a truly wonderful and amazing father.
Coffee Day
I think Trisha, Diane and I are going to try to resume our weekly coffee dates. We used to have them ever Thursday for a really long time, but then life happened. They got married, had a kid each and now that things are somewhat more settled in their lives, they wanna try again. So we’re meeting up today after work at Starbucks. It’ll be great really, to hang out, outside our bigger gals group. I’ve known the two of them much longer than the other girls so it’s pretty nice. Plus, not having to deal with Ava is a ginormous plus.
Yup, still upset about my whole bday weekend, and just don’t want to deal with her unless I absolutely have to. Which thankfully, 99% of the time, I don’t.
So yeah, that will be fun! I have to decide what I want… hmmmm. LOL
Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Rambled on long enough (per usual). Peace out!
