Delivering science-driven innovations for sustainable, profitable, and future-ready food industry in Ireland and beyond.

About us

Teagasc Food Research Programme is Ireland’s national centre for food research, innovation, and industry engagement. Based at the Teagasc Research Centres in Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork and Ashtown, Dublin 15, we combine world-class expertise, cutting-edge facilities, and strong partnerships to deliver science and innovation across the food sector. Our work spans nutrition and health, food safety and microbiology, flavour and sensory science, dairy and meat technology, bakery and ingredients development, bioprocessing and fermentation, and the application of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in food systems. We lead research in sustainable processing, functional and novel foods, and the bioeconomy, helping industry to meet consumer demands while addressing climate and resource challenges. We collaborate with enterprises from SMEs to multinationals, providing R&D support, pilot-scale facilities, and knowledge transfer to drive competitiveness and innovation. Alongside this, we are committed to training and education, public engagement, and international collaboration, ensuring Irish food research and innovation remain connected, sustainable, and future-ready.
