A few Irish "traditions" in Dublin before heading into another few days of sport, performance and some pretty spectacular venues. First stop, Portmarnock Golf Club for an ORRECO event. An incredible setting, and a pretty humbling opportunity to spend some time on the course with Pádraig Harrington three-time major winner. Seeing that level of experience and achievement up close is a reminder of just how high the performance bar can be and pretty humbling for an amateur. Then across to The Campus at Quinta do Lago. Another exceptional setting, with a fascinating mix of sporting backgrounds and individuals all chasing performance in different ways. Great conversations, different approaches to preparation and plenty of insight. Also a welcome opportunity to get back on the pitch and into the gym and spend some time doing what I enjoy most. Different environments, different challenges, but plenty of common ground when it comes to performance.A good few days of learning, sharing and getting stuck in. #HighPerformance #SportScience #Performance #Orreco #Golf #Football #SportsPerformance #Recovery

  • As the Tour de France Femmes continues this week, conversations around female athlete performance have never been more relevant. Our own Prof. Kerry McGawley, who leads Orreco’s Female Athlete programme, is the latest guest on the Team EF Coaching The Cycling Performance Podcast, sharing practical, evidence-based insights that coaches, practitioners and athletes can apply immediately. The discussion explores the physiological considerations unique to female athletes, translating the latest science into practical strategies that support performance, health and long-term development. It’s a great listen for anyone working in high-performance sport—not just cycling. At ORRECO, we’re proud to help bridge the gap between research and real-world performance, ensuring athletes and support teams have access to science they can actually use. If you’re following the Tour de France Femmes this week, this episode is well worth adding to your playlist. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/dxS5H2Ef or wherever you get your podcasts.

A great interview with Coach Brendan O’Connor of the New York Knicks of the NBA on RTE Radio 1 earlier this week. Brendan is in Ireland alongside fellow coaches Pat Sullivan of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Pat Delaney of the Toronto Raptors to take part in ORRECOs Coast to Coast event. The trio have been coaching young basketball players and coaches along the west coast of Ireland throughout this week. Listen to the interview in the link in the comment below

  • What a week it has been for ORRECO’s Coast to Coast programme. Over the past week, we’ve had the privilege of bringing some of basketball’s most experienced coaches to the West of Ireland, creating opportunities for young athletes, coaches and local communities to learn from some of the very best in the game. Led by Brendan O’Connor (New York Knicks), Pat Delany (Toronto Raptors) and Pat Sullivan (University of North Carolina), the programme delivered outstanding basketball clinics at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir in Claregalway and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Sligo. Working alongside local basketball clubs, schools, coaches and Special Olympics Ireland, the week has been about far more than basketball. It has been about sharing knowledge, inspiring young people, building connections and demonstrating the power of sport to bring communities together. A particular highlight was the opportunity to visit the US Ambassador’s Residence in Dublin to meet with US Ambassador Edward Sharp Walsh and his wife Lynn, recognising the role that sport can play in strengthening relationships between Ireland and the United States. Programmes like this are only possible through collaboration, and we’d like to thank Enterprise Ireland, the Irish American Partnership, all of our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who helped make Coast to Coast such a memorable success. Whether supporting elite athletes, professional teams or grassroots communities, our goal remains the same: using science, expertise and relationships to help people perform at their best. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey this week—we’re already looking forward to the next one. #Ireland #CoastToCoast #Basketball #Performance #Recovery #DataScience #SportsScience #EnterpriseIreland #IrishAmericanPartnership #SpecialOlympics #NBACoaching

  • Everyone at ORRECO would like to congratulate Kate O’Connor on an outstanding Commonwealth Games Scotland Heptathlon gold medal. Over two days of competition, Kate showcased the consistency, resilience and versatility that define world-class combined event athletes. Highlights included a season’s best in the high jump, the fastest 200m in the field, a personal best in the long jump and a championship-best javelin performance, before finishing the job in the 800m to secure a memorable gold medal. We’re incredibly proud to support Kate as part of our Female Athlete Physiology programme. Working alongside Kate, our team helps provide insights into the physiological demands unique to female athletes, using biomarker science and performance intelligence to better inform training, recovery and competition readiness. Supporting athletes with evidence-based, individualised insights is at the heart of what we do. This latest success is another milestone in what is becoming one of the most impressive careers in Irish athletics. Kate has now won five senior major championship medals: 🥇 Commonwealth Games (2026) 🥈 World Championships (2025) 🥉 World Indoor Championships (2026) 🥈 Commonwealth Games (2022) 🥉 European Indoor Championships (2025) Kate continues to raise the bar for Irish athletics, and we’re privileged to play a small part in her journey. Congratulations from everyone at Orreco, Kate. We wish you every success at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham and look forward to cheering you on once again.

  • Another inspiring few days at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Sanctuary Summit in Málaga. Alongside world-class athletes, coaches and practitioners, the conversations centred on where high performance is heading next - from AI and data-driven decision making to biomarker science, recovery, nutrition and athlete health. It was fantastic to see several members of the ORRECO team contributing across the programme, sharing perspectives on how technology and science can help practitioners make better decisions while always keeping the athlete at the centre. A huge thank you to the NBPA team for bringing together such an outstanding group of speakers and attendees, and to everyone who took the time to engage with us throughout last week. #NBPA #SportsScience #AthletePerformance #DataScience #SportsTechnology #AI #Recovery #Biomarkers

At ORRECO, we believe the best partnerships are measured over time. That’s why we’re delighted to continue our work with Ettifaq Club - نادي الاتفاق. extending a relationship that began in September 2023 as the club continues to invest in the people, processes and technology that support performance across the organisation. Elite football is becoming increasingly connected. Performance, medical, coaching and operational teams all need access to the right information at the right time to make better decisions. Technology isn’t the objective—it’s the enabler. Over the next phase of our partnership, Ettifaq will continue to utilise ORRECO’s integrated performance ecosystem via Te@m, including: • Medical Notes – creating a centralised medical record for practitioners. • Wellness – giving players a simple, consistent way to report how they feel each day. • Analysis & Reporting – turning performance and medical data into meaningful insights for practitioners and coaches. • @thlete – helping athletes better understand and engage with their own performance information. • ORRECO AI Agent – providing practitioners with instant access to insights, trends and evidence to support faster, more informed decision-making. What has impressed us most throughout this partnership is Ettifaq’s commitment to continuous improvement. The club has embraced collaboration, asked great questions and consistently looked for ways to evolve how information supports decision-making across departments. The Saudi Pro League (SPL) continues to raise standards on and off the pitch, with clubs investing heavily in infrastructure, people and innovation. We’re proud that ORRECO is playing a part in supporting that journey.
