  • Long-term partnerships are how we build a stronger, more resilient food supply chain. It's encouraging to see Tesco strengthening its commitment to British beef farmers through enhanced three-year contracts, increased incentives and investment in its Sustainable Beef Group. Around 200 farmers will benefit from enhanced contracts and financial incentives linked to quality, breeding, animal health, animal welfare and sustainability, while a further 600 farmers will move onto a simplified Aberdeen Angus contract that continues to provide the long-term security and financial rewards farmers need to invest with confidence. The additional investment in whole-life traceability and environmental baselining is another positive step, recognising that producing exceptional beef starts long before it reaches the supermarket shelf. As Natalie Smith, Tesco's Head of Sustainable Agriculture & Fisheries, said: "These changes reflect our ambition to work even more closely with our British farmers, offering long-term security, which allows them to deliver high standards of quality, animal welfare and sustainability across our beef supply chain. We're proud that Kepak continues to work alongside Tesco and our farming partners as part of the Tesco Sustainable Beef Group". As Matthew Wyndham Lewis, Head of Agriculture at Kepak, commented: "It is a strong vote of confidence in British beef production and in the commitment of farmers across the Tesco Sustainable Beef Group." When retailers, processors and farmers work together with a shared long-term vision, everyone benefits—from farm businesses and rural communities to customers looking for high-quality, sustainably produced British beef. Congratulations to everyone involved in driving this forward. #BritishBeef #Agriculture #Sustainability #Partnerships #FoodIndustry #SupplyChain #AnimalWelfare #Traceability #Kepak #Tesco #BritishFarming

  • We were delighted to welcome students and teachers from the Certified Irish Angus Schools Programme to Kepak Farm last week. The visit brought together finalists from Loreto Balbriggan, St. Angela’s College Cork, Abbey Community College Ferrybank and Loreto Secondary School Fermoy as they prepare to complete the final stage of their two-year programme. The group heard from Kepak speakers Eoin Kelleher, Agri Business Executive, Luke Mc Dermott McDermott, Sustainability Officer and Eilis Greene Agriculture Brand Manager, who shared insights on animal performance, nutrition, sustainability, carcass grading and changing customer and consumer market requirements. Students also had the opportunity to tour the farm showcasing the latest developments in beef production and environmental sustainability. Next month, the students’ Angus cattle will be processed with Kepak, marking the culmination of their two-year journey in the programme. This important milestone brings them one step closer to the next Certified Irish Angus Schools Programme Finalists Awards Ceremony in March 2027. We wish all students the very best as they complete their projects and look forward to celebrating their achievements in the months ahead. 👏
