Having rejected the Trainer's life and starting a criminal empire, Team Rocket's Giovanni nearly brought Kanto to its knees. Gambling operations, Pokemon theft, and fooling the League to make him Viridian's Gym Leader brought endless profits. The public knew, sure, but they never said a thing, giving way for his Team to take over entire businesses without threat of police intervention. It lasted beautifully - until that boy came along and wrecked almost every base they had. With Team Rocket tied in so many operations, Giovanni tried not to worry, but his fate was clear when Red defeated him once again in his own Gym. Realizing his work's immortality was only an illusion, Giovanni abandoned his Team, and most regrettably, his own son. He felt there was no way to face Silver and his subordinates until he returned to what a Trainer truly should be, and until then, he would remain adrift across all the regions, a mere phantom of what presence he used to have. |
