Gotta say my favorite 'pet' from my fandoms is Diefenbaker from Due South. But I'm gonna go with a more obscure one and then some from my own stories, instead.

Prada is Lydia Martin's canon dog from Teen Wolf. He's a six-pound black and white Papillon. He was onscreen once (in season 2's Frenemy) and then mentioned a couple more times later on.

I love animals, but I don't write original pets too often. I have in the past, though. Let's see if I can remember...

Hi, I'm greenie (or Green, if you want to be formal-polite), and I'm a 47-year-old weirdo who is back once again to play with the Snowflake Challenge!! Wooooo!!

Maybe we can get to know each other a little this month as we skip along the challenges together. (Hopefully, I'm skipping along and not outright skipping any like usual. Forgive me if that happens lol)

I love Snowflake because it gives me things to do and be excited about here on Dreamwidth, which is a place I love but don't spend enough time with.

Also, Snowflake frequently reminds me what's so great about fandom and fannishness to begin with!

I really, REALLY need new glasses. I cannot fucking see. Not well, anyway. But we have so many other things going on between Mom and Meg that it's like I barely have a chance to breathe, let alone do things for myself.

So I felt good for about 2 1/2 days with the new antidepressant. I think I'm better than I was before I took it, but not a huge amount.

I have so much to do and I'm not doing it.

Tomorrow is Meg's birthday. She's going to be 30. It's so hard to think of myself with a 30 yo kid.

I was all geared up to talk about The Game Awards, but now I'm mostly meh. I don't have anything new or exciting to say about it. Like with the actual awards? I'm not one of the cynics. I don't think E33 should have won fewer awards. It's just that good.

As for the announcements, I'm most excited about Exodus and the KOTOR follow-up, Fate of the Old Republic. Which I know won't be around for a few more years, since it was more of an announcement for hiring and funding use (and to get us RPG fans fired up wayyy ahead of time). Not at all impressed with the 'big reveal' they saved until last. A live-service hero shooter? THAT'S your biggest announcement? Yeah, fuck that.

I haven't yet played the new 'Thank You' DLC for E33 yet since I um. Started a new game? I can't help myself! Also hoping to play Dispatch soon. And I picked up Control from PS+.

I have about 2k of my epilogue/sequel to my FTH fic and I really hope I can finish it in time for the FTH deadline. If I don't, my recipient has already said it's okay but still. I was HOPING.

The new antidepressant is still working well! The only thing against it is the joint pain. I've got a pretty bad elbow out of it. But I'm used to pain so I'll take that if it means less to no depression.

There are so many things I want to do. I'm not getting younger, so I should just quit procrastinating.

One thing is that I want to get through my TBR list! Or at least whittle it down. My reading has dropped off dramatically, but I still keep buying books. WTF, self. I signed up for Storygraph a while ago, but now I'm serious about it! Got to keep up with what I'm doing. (username greeniegreen)

I keep wasting time on Tumblr--not that I don't love Tumblr, but I could be doing things other than staying up to date on the latest in meme culture.

And I have so many WIPs. *flails* And I REALLY need to finish the epilogue to the fic I'm posting. Before I get to the end of the chapters I have!

One thing I definitely need is new glasses. I can't even see the screen well enough to make icons anymore, and I used to love that. :( I can read just fine, but small details are fuzzy and I can't make graphics/icons with fuzzy eyes.

I haven't done a love meme in so long, it really takes me back. I would love to see y'all's names on there, too! (I did spy two of you, but I know there's more of you here...) But even if you don't make a comment with your name on it, I would like to say I LOVE YOU. I appreciate those of you who've stuck around even when I've only barely remembered to post and rarely comment on anyone else's posts.

I'm gonna try to do better! I mean it this time! I miss the community here so much. Even being in a different fandom than most of you, I still want you in my life and want to be in yours.

Speaking of fandom, I have started posting my Fandom Trumps Hate fic (I think I mentioned this before), and I have 4 chapters up already. I'm hoping to get it posted in full before the Steter Secret Santa fics go live, so I'm putting the chapters up at a quick pace.

But I haven't written the epilogue yet, eep! But anyway, if anyone is interested in reading, here it is:

I literally feel at least 5x better than usual. I don't know if it's because the weather is good or because my hormones are just right, or because the new med is working. I've been on it for 2 weeks, so it's probably the med. WOW. The difference is so striking.

The new med so far seems okay. I'm not as easily annoyed/angered, is that a thing? In a couple days I go on the largest dose. So far I've been gradually going up.

I hate being the only person in charge of cooking. Tomorrow's gonna suck

My second beta finished with my FTH fic. Now I've got to get my first beta feeling better.

I can't keep saying 'I miss the COMMUNITY of fandom' and then not do anything to contribute to/foster said community.

I'm writing, though. Lots of writing. I've been working on this one fic for about 6-7 months now. Just hit 50k on it. I'm hoping the first draft is almost done. And then I will have lots and lots of editing. But I have faith in this story. I think it's going to be good.

Two goats from across the street came to visit me today while I was taking out the garbage. I love goats! But I did not know these goats, so that made me wary. Another neighbor came along and tempted them back home with Cheez-Its.

Right now there is a physical therapist here in my home with my mother. Mom needs help. She's not using the walker she got, but then again there aren't many places she wants to go where she can use it. She wants to be outside, but the yard is bumpy and the wheels on the walker/rollator can't handle the terrain.

We've also got a companion from an agency who comes in twice a month who can take mom to places or pick up meds or vacuum and dust the house. It takes a lot of pressure off me, but it's only one day every other week. (So far)

Ummmm not much else going on. Meg is doing well. I'm hanging in there. We're alive.

last night I was able to sleep. but tonight, Meg is up. wide awake. she's like this maybe 5 days/nights a week. it's hell.

I've been writing! I participated as a creator in the Fandom Trumps Hate auction and now I'm working with the winner to create something awesome. It's a time travel Teen Wolf fic, because there can never be enough of them haha

I recently bought a big notebook and some colorful gel pens and it's my writing journal now, as opposed to my journal-journal/diary.

I'm getting better sleep since we changed Meg's meds back to twice a day rather than once a day and she's no longer staying up all night or waking at 2am every morning and not allowing ANYONE ELSE to sleep ever. So that's good.

That's about it.

I think one of the things I'm feeling over the Neil Gaiman thing is grief. I gave my oldest son some of his works, and it was a thing I did for him on several birthdays and Christmases. Now I just... I don't know. Here was this act of love, wanting to share interests and art with my son, and it feels so gross now. Tainted. But then again that seems like I'm making it all about my relationship with my son and not the pain and trauma of the victims. So then I feel guilt.

snowflake challenge 6: Share your favourite piece of original canon.

North is an episode about friendship and forgiveness and father/sonhood. About feeling alone until you've got your buddy. God, it's so good. It's like this little encapsulation of what the show means to me.
If you never watch any other episode of Due South, watch North.
(edited to add) Ray and Fraser are in a plane crash and then stranded in the wilderness.
Fraser is temporary blind so he has to rely on Ray (Vecchio). The ghost of Ray's father tells him to 'cut [Fraser] loose'. But Ray is a better man than his father was.
There's a whole plot about catching a fugitive, too, but that's not as important as...
There's SINGING. There's singing while RAY CARRIES FRASER over his back. It's just wonderful.
It's a wonderful episode.

snowflake_challenge 5: Talk about what has improved in your life thanks to fandom.

My life before fandom was so different, but a lot has to do with going through a divorce around the same time I entered fandom, so it's hard to differentiate between what good things are because of fandom and what's because of the divorce!

So I'll just say: I have the most wonderful friends. Many, many friends. Lots of people I've known for decades, and some just for a few years, friends who come and go but are always there, you know? Most importantly, there's my BFF. I met my bestie

majoline through fandom (through a friending meme here on DW, to be exact) and I've never had a more perfect blessing in my life that wasn't my actual flesh and blood children. I'm not going to spend the whole post gushing about her, BUT I COULD. We talk every day, share the big stuff and the minutia, the ups and the downs. There are lots of downs sometimes, but we support each other. She's awesome. Before fandom, I never had a friend like her.
