Star Wars Blurbs

When it comes to the Star Wars sequel trilogy, we only really know three things for certain: someone's going to have a bad feeling, someone's going to lose a hand, and someone's going to get kissed. Since shipping culture is (like it or not) a huge deal within fandom, people are losing sleep over that last one. Everyone has their own OTP out of the Star Wars crew and everyone wants to see something become canon. And something will. But what? This age old question has started ship wars, something that veterans in fandom know all too well. And it really is a war because it's messy. People receive death threats, people are totally ostracized, just bickering back and forth over who's going to get kissed and why that matters to them. Then there are those who ship something (or everything) without caring about canon. Those people are magical and lucky and not me.

Here, I'd like to take a moment to go through the most common ships and theories pertaining to the sequel trilogy in order to figure out what in the hell is going to happen. Shockingly, just about everyone has their argument based around good sources. So this isn't a matter of opinion, but rather a matter of looking around and seeing what's what.

Note: I'm ignoring OT3+ ships for this post because it's my belief that Lucasfilm/Disney just flat out wouldn't have it. It would be Very Interesting if that assessment was wrong, though.

Another Note: I'm probably going to piss people off, but this article is accepting of the idea of ALL ships. The discussion is about whether they will be canon or not and why.

This post is more or less for my own sanity. I mean, I've been hoping that Poe would be gay for so long and so hard that I would honestly be disappointed if that didn't end up being canon at this point. However, I don't think anything could actually ruin my experience for VIII (unless I get spoiled again), so this isn't a make or break issue for my relationship with Star Wars. But I just have to get the facts in order. Not the speculation. This time I want to be clear. These are the facts when looking at this nonsense through a gay lens.

Hi, all. It's me again.

So I wanted a space (that wasn't laggy as all hell like tumblr) where I could rant and rant and rant about all of my thoughts surrounding the ridiculous franchise that is Star Wars. Figured I'd go back to ye olde days and make a blog about it.

Now most of this is going to be speculation or drabbles about something in canon. I'll be covering the movies, books, games, Clone Wars/Rebels, comics, etc. I will probably go on and on about my own opinions, too, so that'll be fun. Also, there WILL be talk of rumored leaks and spoilers for the upcoming movies. I'll keep those tagged and behind cuts with warnings so no one's accidentally exposed. Before reddit jumps down my throat, I want to make it super duper clear that this isn't a "leak" blog. When I do refer to leaks, it'll be rumors from secondary sources that I would have found online (likely not legit in the first place), and certainly not from someone that like works on set or something. I have no access to spoilers so don't even think I know shit cause I don't.

While on the subject of leaks and spoilers, the closer VIII gets, the further away I'll be from that topic. Right now, no one knows shit except the cast and crew. Honestly, I don't care to know shit either. It'll turn into a Spoiler Free Zone just as soon as actual spoilers start coming about.

A bit about me and my biases: I'm ridiculous Stormpilot trash and kinda pushing for it, I 110% want Poe to be gay in canon, I'm not anti-anything (looking at you anti-reylo drama seekers), I have yet to watch Clone Wars or Rebels, I think the prequels are pretty damn bad but should still be thought of as canon and not completely chunked, I'm kinda addicted to some of the comics, I've only read a few of the books, I know nothing about Battlefront or any of that, and I guess the rest can be asked of me.

I won't be posting fanfiction here or anything like that. This blog is purely for speculation, theories, character studies, etc etc. Think of it like articles in a way, I guess.

Annnnd that's it! I'm kinda excited about this whole thing. I might even make images for every post, idk. I'll link this to my tumblr and everything, but I'm pretty sure this is just a space for me to vent without anyone seeing. Regardless, here I am and here you are so this is happening.
