Power Generation and Smart Grid Solutions for a more sustainable, efficient, flexible, and resilient New Electric World
À propos
From medium voltage switchgear and transformers to grid automation, we deliver specific solutions for utilities, oil and gas, mining, data centers and critical buildings, covering all power distribution needs for energy management. The Grid is blocking or unblocking Energy Transition. All roads to decarbonization rely on distribution utilities, who are the essential enablers to Energy Transition. That’s because only a data-driven grid overhaul allows the renewables & prosumer revolutions. Schneider Electric's Grids of the Future are powered by data and integrated network models. They are more sustainable, reliable, flexible, efficient, and secure. They are digitally equipped and remotely managed. Digitally planned, designed, and operated, they support the growth of DERs, microgrids, energy communities, and other flexibility resources through optimized orchestration across the lifecycle. With Grids of the Future, we equip distribution utilities with the ability to pioneer the Energy Transition and enable the hard work of decarbonization.

The next era of grid reliability won't be built on bigger infrastructure alone, it will be built on smarter, self-healing systems. That was a defining theme at the CIRED (International Community on Electricity Distribution) Brussels Workshop 2026, where 600+ leaders from utilities, DSOs, and academia examined how distribution networks must evolve. Isabele Alves Simon, Cybersecurity Tendering SME for NAM & SAM, contributed to this conversation with her presentation on "Single-Relay Self-Healing for Open Ring Topology Distribution Systems" demonstrating how automated fault detection, isolation, and restoration can deliver resilience at scale, without added complexity. As electrification accelerates, this is the direction distribution networks are heading. Congratulations, Isabele, on representing Schneider Electric's innovation on the global stage.

What does it take to become the world's next electro-powered continent? Europe is charting that path. The EU's Electrification Action Plan is a bold step towards greater energy independence by accelerating electrification, strengthening grid infrastructure, and making clean electricity more affordable. Europe: The world's first "electro-powered continent." That's the ambition behind the European Commission's new Electrification Action Plan. This plan is about shifting Europe's transport, buildings and industry from imported fossil fuels to clean, homegrown electricity, while making that electricity more affordable and strengthening the grid that powers it. The plan shows that electrification is an economic and energy-security strategy. The actions focus on reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, lowering energy costs, investing in grid infrastructure and storage, and accelerating the deployment of clean technologies across Europe. If done, it could save up to €260 billion a year in fossil fuel imports while strengthening industrial competitiveness. For context, the EU imported around €340 billion worth of fossil fuels in 2025. For those of us in the power and energy industry, it reinforces how electrification succeeds when policy, infrastructure and technology move together.
