Its 272 carriages were built by Alstom in Derby, with their export to Egypt backed by UK Export Finance and supported by the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, supporting around 150 jobs in the UK and helping deliver world-leading transport in Egypt. It’s UK advanced manufacturing in action: British engineering expertise, exported around the world and contributing to Egypt’s ambitious infrastructure development. HMA Mark Bryson-Richardson decided to put it to the test, swapping Cairo traffic for the monorail on his way to today’s meetings. 👇
