fleurrochard: (read to me)
I was in the mood for a podfic selfrec post of a specific flavour: Which podfic of your own do you listen to the most? (That can, but doesn't have to be the podfic you consider your best! :D)

You can just link it, but you can of course also write your reasons. :)

The Pens haven't broken their streak getting into the playoffs, so [personal profile] pennyplainknits and I aren't breaking our streak baking for them, with [personal profile] eledhwenlin joining in as well. :D (Or possibly cooking, as we decided that would be allowed this year as well - there are some states that get more difficult to find new recipes!)

Penny got us started with pepparkakor for Marcus Pettersson, but sadly the Pens didn't win. Let's hope they start that tonight!

I am baking for the Captain, Sidney Crosby, a true Nova Scotian classic - which is why I baked a Nova Scotian classic for him: Marie Nightingale’s Ginger Snaps.

My last bake got a win, but unfortunately [personal profile] pennyplainknits's cranberry nut muffins for Carter Rowney didn't, so the Pens kinda need to win this game now. *crosses fingers*

I baked for #10, Garrett Wilson, a left winger who got called up from Wilkes-Barre. He's from Barrie, Ontario, Canada and I made almond apple squares from "Get Cracking", the website of the Egg Farmers of Ontario, for him. (I still need to cut them, right now the cake is cooling, so it's more a rectangle than squares. *g*)

Unfortunately neither my last bake nor [personal profile] pennyplainknits's delicious looking Vanillekipferl for Tom Kühnhackl got a win. (At least Tom Wilson finally got suspended for one of his dirty hits!)

I baked for #53, Teddy Blueger, a baby center who got called up from Wilkes-Barre. He's from Riga, Latvia and I made pierogi for him.

My last bake got a win, which means the Pens won Round 1, yay! Which also means, they're playing the Caps in Round 2. Again.

[personal profile] pennyplainknits's blueberry crumble muffins for Justin Schultz already started us off really nicely! I hope, I can continue that.

I baked for #15, Riley Sheahan, a center we got from Detroit this season, and who already got some points in these playoffs. He's from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, and I made a Made in Canada Cake from the Globe and Mail site for him. It is apparently from the 1911 Canadian Farm Cook Book, and the author of it is "Mrs. Guy Simmonds, Wilton, Lennox Co., Ont."

My last bake got a win, but alas [personal profile] pennyplainknits's oatcakes for Sidney Crosby didn't. (They looked delicious though! Mmmmm, oats.)

Today I baked for #22, Matt Hunwick, a defense player who came to the Pens from Toronto this season. He's from Warren, Michigan, USA, because of course he is. (I get Michigan players quite often. I think Penny got none so far?)

I made Oatmeal-Cherry Cookies from the Midwest Living site (because Michigan = cherries. Good thing I like them! *g*)

Unfortunately my bake didn't bring much luck (it was very tasty though!), but [personal profile] pennyplainknits's apple and walnut crumb cake for Jamie Oleksiak got a win, which is great!

Today I baked for #16, Josh Jooris, a right winger. He's from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and I baked Apple, Walnut and White Chocolate Cookies from the Foodland Ontario site for him.

Somehow the end of the NHL season comes always so fast - weren't [personal profile] pennyplainknits and I not just finished baking for playoffs?

Anyway, playoffs have started, the Pens are playing, so Penny and I will do some baking! ((We draw numbers with a random number generator to pick a player from the Pens, and then bake something traditional/ associated with their country/state/home town etc.))

Penny baked classic black and white bakery cookies for Zach Aston-Reese, and well - the Pens got 7 goals, Matt Murray got a shutout, Sidney Crosby got a hattrick, the Pens got a win!
(Way to raise the bar, Penny!)

I'm baking for #2, Chad Ruhwedel, a defense player.
He's from San Diego, California, USA, and I baked a Maui Banana Cream Tube Cake for him (apparently it was created for Reds Espresso Gallery of San Diego).
(Since pecans are really hard to get here, I replaced them with walnuts, but they are Californian walnuts!)

Unfortunately neither my last bake nor [personal profile] pennyplainknits's chocolate petit fours for Mark Streit got a win, and we got a tied series. Let's hope we can swing this around again.

My player today wears the #62, is a winger, preeeeetty fast, and oh SO handsome (Penny assured me that he is indeed that handsome in real life!), Carl Hagelin!

He's from Södertälje,Sweden, and I baked Drömmar (dreams) for him, very buttery and short vanilla cookies.

My last bake got a win! [personal profile] pennyplainknits's Apple-Pear buttermilk cake for Garrett Wilson got a win! I can end sentences without an exclamation mark!

:D

I'm baking for #37 today, he's a right winger, seems to be a good boy (*g*), Carter Rowney!

He's from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, and I've baked Almond Butter Honey Maple Cookies from the Alberta Farm Fresh Producers website for him.
They include a few very typical Alberta ingredients like wheat, honey and canola oil (and maple is just pretty Canadian in general. :D).

*breathes* Ok, calm(ish) again.

While my last bake didn't get a win, [personal profile] pennyplainknits's butter cookes for Oskar Sundqvist was, so we're in the Stanley Cup Final against the Nashville Predators! Whoooo!

My player todays wears the #65, plays defense, came to us from Carolina this season and right into his first playoffs at 36, Ron Hainsey!

He's from Bolton, Connecticut, USA, and I've baked an apple pie from the Connecticut Apples website for him. Since Connecticut is apparently the nutmeg state, it includes nutmeg. ;)

Both my bake and [personal profile] pennyplainknits's pulla for Olli Mättää were followed by wins, which is awesome! I wouldn't mind if that continues. *g*

My player todays wears the #81, plays right wing, in the words of Nick Bonino "great teammate", Stanley Cup Champion Phil Kessel!
He's from Madinson, Wisconsin, USA, and I've baked Coffee Cake Muffins, which, according to the MidwestLiving website, is one of Wisconsin's favorite recipes - it sure includes a lot of dairy, and since the official State Domestic Animal is the Dairy Cow and the official State Beverage is milk...

My bake last time was followed by a win, but sadly [personal profile] pennyplainknits's babovka for Dominik Simon (while looking very good!) didn't, so back to the drawing board. Well, the oven.

My player todays wears the #6, is oe of our d-men and such a great person, Trevor Daley!
He's from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and I've baked Maple Bars (recipe from the website of The Farm Pantry in the village of St. Jacobs, Ontario) for him. They include rolled oats, chopped walnuts, coconut and, of course, maple syrup.
