A low-pressure, low-minimum challenge to revisit an old fandom.
Flashback Fest is about early fandoms that are special to us. Maybe it was the first canon you ever felt fannish about, but you never shared anything you made for it because it was all notebook scribbles and you weren't online yet. Or maybe it's your first proper fandom in the community sense, but you fell out of it for various reasons. Maybe it's something that elicits nostalgia or even mixed feelings — you've lost touch or had a falling out with friends from back then, or the canon aged poorly, or something else happened. Maybe you have old drawerfic that you've always kept meaning to clean up and post, but never did. This is an opportunity to revisit it in a positive way, hype those old fandoms, and share the experience with like-minded people.

We have quite a few people who've talked passionately about their fandoms in the sign-up post and in the fandom promos - too many to list. We also already have 11 works posted in the collection spanning 8 fandoms:

Some of you have already gotten a head start on this, but here's an official spot for you to talk about the fandom(s) you'd like to create for and, if you like, reminisce a little.
Here's a completely optional template you can follow:
What's the fandom? How did you first discover and get into it?
Why this fandom? Why is it special to you?
Do you already have ideas for the kind of work you want to make? Medium, genre, ship, etc.

Is this a gift exchange?
No. However, you are welcome to gift your work to someone if you like — for example, if you mention the fandom in your sign-up or fandom promo and someone says "Oh man I would I love to see someone write for this!". That's between you and the recipient and I will be not be doing any kind of moderating regarding the gift.
What is the sign-up for if this is not a gift exchange?
Informal only: an indication of interest and something for you to express your commitment to this, if that's something you find helpful. It is not required to post to the collection!
