Notes on a Scandal
My god, this movie is intense as fucking hell. Holy shit, Judi Dench. Holy fucking hell. This movie is intense and so incredibly well-done. Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench are amazing. This movie blows my mind. And the lesbian undertones? Uh, HELLO. Dench's character, Barbara Covett, is now known as the crazy old lesbian. Because, COME ON, she totally is. Dench is so convincing that it gives me chills. Blanchett is gorgeous [which is why she was the avi for old!Alison's mom] and one hell of an actress. This is actually the first film with her in it that I've seen. The plot is rich and engrossing and the writing is spectacular. Four stars from me.

The Pursuit of Happyness
Will Smith just blew me away here. He's a fantastic actor in this movie. His son Jaden almost steals the spotlight. The kid is adorable and he's a great actor like his dad. The interaction between the two is so incredibly genuine and the story itself is something everyone can relate to. In fact, some of the business stuff they talked about they taught me in my Vector Marketing training, lol. It's beautifully-shot, the acting is excellent, and it's one of the rare movies that can keep my attention when I'm online tinkering around. And the happy ending after all the hardship and struggle? That newfound vindication? It's a sweet feeling. Four stars here.

My mother is a hilarious drunk. Apparently in her drunken glory once she took her friend/coworker's teeth and put them in a filing cabinet. "Oh, Joy! Careful or Brenda will file your teeth! She's good at it!" When I think about it, Mom's friendship with her friends Cheryl and Joy reminds me of Mel, Kate, and myself. It's uncanny. I hear all these stories and all I can think of is me, Mel, and Kate together. And sometimes it scares me exactly how much my mom and I are alike. It's an eerie resemblance, really. I look like my dad but everything else screams mom. We both get the same reactions when men hit on us (or our friends) and I never even realized it. Man, I love my mom.

As much as this job fucks with my feet and knees, it amuses me so. Carol and I had a field day when I said "uber" to a customer earlier in my shift. We invented... UBERMAN! Superman's cousin who is not allergic to kryptonite and is like really super. *dies* Carol is in her like 50's with a 19-year-old daughter, mind you. And she's giggling like a little girl at the Uberman jokes. It was adorable.

My ankle has been hurting me something fierce. I slipped and fell on a walk before the conference in St. Charles and twisted it. Yeah it hurts like a mother fucker right now. Why did no one get me a massage for my birthday? Lol. I have an hour before going to pick up Alanna in Roseville because The Myth in Maplewood doesn't open til 10:00. So her dad gave me directions and knock on wood, I think I may actually get there without ending up lost. GASP!

Easter was alright. The usual painful trip to grandma and grandpa Blaine's farm up in Little Falls. As usual grandma was a bitch. When we were leaving she said to me something along the lines of, "You should get your bike out and go riding. It's nice out now and you need to lose some weight." I rolled my eyes and moved along.

I also had the pleasure of finding out that not only do we not know why Suze is in the hospital months after having her breasts removed (they can't get her temperature down), but the doctors have found a strange mass in her lung that is nothing like they've ever seen before. So they're doing a biopsy and such. Karma, years of bitterness and repressed hostility manifest physically, or strange medical phenomenon? You decide.
