Sobre nosotros

We help companies with their biggest challenges – market strategies, regulatory reviews, competition inquiries. And we help governments design innovative policies and regulatory systems. Economics is (nearly) everywhere and the economist’s toolkit is large. Clients are surprised at the breadth of our work. Not just the costs of supply, movements in demand, pricing and competitive dynamics. But we are also experts in finance, statistical modelling, game theory, market research and even the psychological side of economics. And we’ve worked in almost every sector imaginable, from fertilisers and oil rigs to handbags and iPads. In some sectors, economics is so critical that we’ve also built specialist knowledge. Our powerful tools and sector knowledge are valuable. But we try not to stop there. Making an impact for clients means understanding the issues, whether it’s the commercial reality of the business; what is really driving customer behaviour; or the political context. We are also aware that our clients want clear and simple advice, from people they trust. So we place a lot of emphasis on our communications, and on human relationships. We provide complex analysis but plain language – English, German, French or Spanish. Our reports are often used in legal proceedings and so our evidential standards are high. We never “write to order”. Our work is respected because we are independent and obsessive about the truth. We work with clients all over the world and have offices in Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, Madrid, London and Paris. Our sister company in Australia works from Sydney and Melbourne.

  • As competition authorities place greater emphasis on robust evidence for transaction benefits, the economic case has never been more important. Our new Merger Benefits Unit brings together specialists from across Frontier to help clients develop and substantiate merger benefits cases. Read Ankit Parasrampuria's thoughts below:

For the CMA's revised guidance on merger efficiencies: the hard work is done, the harder work is still to come 😅   The hard work of rewriting the guidance on merger efficiencies is now done by the CMA. The revised guidance strikes a more positive tone and can pave the way for a more meaningful assessment of efficiencies on mergers.   The harder work of implementing the new guidance is still to come. Successful implementation would depend not just on the CMA – who would have a critical role in testing evidence by relying on the right expertise – but also on merging parties and their advisors, who play an important role in keeping efficiency arguments grounded in the evidence.   Our response to the CMA’s revised guidance (see below) highlights the key shifts made in the new guidance and provides suggestions for targeted refinements that could be made in the final guidance to improve clarity further. Frontier's Merger Benefits Unit brings together our competition experience and multi-disciplinary econ expertise in one place, with the aim of making the hard work on efficiencies slightly easier. 🏬 What does successful town centre regeneration actually look like? Our evaluation of the Towns Fund provides some of the strongest evidence yet. Commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and working with BMG Research, we evaluated one of England's largest place-based regeneration programmes. Amongst our findings: 👣 High streets receiving Future High Streets Fund investment saw a 6.7% increase in footfall compared with similar locations. 🏆 Pride in place and resident perceptions of town centres improved in case study areas, especially where regeneration was visible and communities were closely involved. 🏗️ The evaluation identifies practical lessons to help shape the next generation of regeneration programmes. Early investment in local authority capacity, meaningful community engagement and flexible programme management all contributed to successful delivery. As many projects have only recently been completed, this represents an important early picture of what is working, and where future policy can build on that success. 👇📝 Read the full report in the top comment below ------------------------------------- Our contributors to this report and underlying analysis are: Sarah Snelson, Danail Popov, Vladislava Bar-Katz, Alex Katz, Sonia Razi, Margherita Serena Ferrara, Li Z., Manasi Ramnath, Sunny Roshan R., Thomas Baily, Harriet Olorenshaw, Emma Kearney, Ana Grujic, Maria Viñas Llovet, Zhuo Guan

🌞School's out for summer!🌞 But there is time for one last big announcement 📢 before we all head off on a well deserve break. Thanks to major revisions to guidelines at the EC and the UK, 2026 is turning into the year of merger benefits. We have been working hard to set ourselves up for this new era. Today we are making public our *Merger Benefits Unit* - a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to building the robust evidence base for merger benefits cases. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Outside the narrow walls of antitrust, economists have for a long time thought about how to value and quantify a broad set of economic benefits of different types: it is the bread and butter of our colleagues working the field of public policy and regulatory policy: across issues as diverse as climate change, supply chains, innovation and skills and many more. This collaboration brings together all that expertise with our outstanding competition economists, supported by an expert senior advisory group, with both an EU and UK focus. We'll be reaching out to speak with our clients and collaborators about how we plan to bring this to life on cases - just as soon as we are all back to school again in September 🚸🚌

  • Merger efficiencies are playing an increasingly important role in competition assessments – and the evidence needed to substantiate them has never been more important. That's why we've launched 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁, bringing together experts from our Brussels and London offices across our Competition, Public Policy and network regulation practices to help clients develop and quantify robust efficiencies cases, and design remedies that deliver real outcomes. Our team has been involved in several landmark merger cases, including Vodafone/Three, which have helped inform the evolving approach to efficiencies assessments. Alongside deep sector expertise across telecoms, energy, transport and water, we are supported by a senior panel of leading practitioners from academia, business and policymaking. • It’s a Frontier Advisory Council super-collab! Our Chair Sharon White recently featured on the ‘Econ to Icon' podcast, talking with hosts Michael Kell and (fellow Frontier Advisory Council member) Paul Johnson about her career in economics and beyond. Sharon reflects on her journey from an East London comprehensive, to winning a place at Cambridge University to study economics, before going onto hold senior positions in the civil service and other public roles. Along the way were notable achievements, such as becoming the first Black person, and only the second woman, to serve as Second Permanent Secretary at the Treasury. 📺 The full episode is available on YouTube: https://okt.to/pMTjmS ‘Econ to Icon’ is a podcast about influential people whose careers began in economics and went somewhere remarkable - into politics, journalism, business, markets, even music. Previous guests include Steve Webb, Steph Flanders, Tim Harford, Amelia Fletcher and Dan Corry. 🎙️ Full episodes are available here: https://okt.to/OH7rLA

  • We're proud to support meaningful conversations that foster inclusion and belonging. Thanks to everyone who helped make our annual Pride speaker event such a success! 🌈

Wonderful to host our annual #Pride speaker event at Frontier Economics yesterday on behalf of our LGBTQ+ network, Spectrum 🌈 We were lucky to bring in Dario Sansone who explored the role of Economics in exploring LGBTQ+ topics - from early foundations in the 1990s exploring labour market experiences, to more recent explorations of gender identity, intersex people and the role of policy reforms such as equal marriage. Dario also touched on the evolving policy landscape across Europe and how economic analysis can best support the case for equality. We were also joined by colleagues from the Royal Economic Society to mark Frontier's continued support as their ED&I Strategic Partner. Massive thanks to all those involved in organising and supporting the event and theming the offices so well, in particular to Jennifer Boychuk, Robyn Valentine and Scarlett G. Reeves.

“AI is a black box” was a common refrain in the many sessions I attended at London International Disputes Week (LIDW). Since then I've been reflecting on this and our own Frontier Economics session with the excellent Laura Houston, Ross Francis-Pike and Rebecca Keating. Ultimately I think it is the wrong starting point as we start our journey into a world of AI disputes. Agentic AI systems may be complex and probabilistic, but complex is not the same as unknowable. I’ve written down some thoughts on why agentic AI is not a black box, and why lawyers need to follow the chain. #AI #disputes

  • 🫸Authorised Push Payment scam losses fell by around 21% following the introduction of the UK's reimbursement requirement. Our independent evaluation of APP scam policies found that stronger incentives for payment service providers helped drive investment in fraud prevention, contributing to an estimated £73m annual reduction in APP scam losses. Consumers also benefited from higher reimbursement rates, with protection improving from 54% of losses reimbursed before the policy to 65% afterwards. The evaluation finds that, overall, the policies have delivered benefits greater than costs in the short term – while also highlighting important questions around fraud displacement, consistency of outcomes across providers and longer-term market impacts. This work was commissioned by the Payment Systems Regulator. 👉 Click the link in the top comment below for our full report, and to sign up for our free webinar with our team.

  • Can major business investment help accelerate Europe's transition to a low-carbon economy? New Frontier Economics analysis suggests it can. Our latest research explores how long-term investment, innovation and collaboration can help scale low-carbon technologies while supporting jobs, competitiveness and economic growth. Commissioned by Amazon, the report finds that Amazon's investments in renewable energy, transport electrification and sustainable packaging between 2021 and 2025 could support between 112,000 and 144,000 jobs across Europe and the UK, while contributing between €8.8bn and €11.3bn in economic value. The research also highlights how large-scale investment can help accelerate the deployment of low-carbon technologies. For example, Amazon has contracted more than 8.7 GW of renewable energy capacity across Europe through long-term power purchase agreements. With Europe committed to reaching climate neutrality by 2050, the findings highlight how private sector investment can support both decarbonisation and competitiveness.
