I've been ill, busy, ill, ill some more... well, lets just say my life got away from me for a while. Between feeling like crap, work, life and doctor's appointments (some with no answers and some with a recognition of what's wrong but no fix), I haven't been writing consistently for a long time.

But, I've been pulling up my WIP's and working on them the last few weeks. I feel the fire re-igniting. Sort of. LOL. Right now I'm reworking some things because I just didn't like the way they were going. I'm not putting pressure on myself to post in any certain time limit but I'm getting there. I've had lots of "ideas" for fics but no motivation to write any of them. However, that seems to be changing a little.

So, hopefully, I'll be back on track to finish at least my Season 4 of Forever Knight story thing. ::fingers crossed::

I feel less crappy than the last year but I'm still not 100%. I'm not sure I will ever be 100% again so I'm aiming for 50%. I think I'm at about 40% right now so YAY ME!

I've been trying to get back into writing after my illness and the heat knocked me on my ass. I couldn't motivate myself to take up my Forever Knight stories yet. So I, somewhat crazy pants, signed up for NaNoWriMo. I'm writing something I've always wanted to read: A m/m time-travel romance. HAHAHAHAHAH. Yes, seriously.

I doubt I'll finish it by the end of November but I'm hoping it will kickstart my writing bug again. I got 1700something words tonight. It's a good start, I guess. I'm on vacation later this month so I'll have more time then but I hope to be able to write some every day for at least an hour. ::fingers crossed:: Maybe somewhere in November, I'll return to Forever Knight.

The frustrating thing is I have most of the last two stories mapped out and about 5000 words already written on the two final stories. Not really a huge amount to finish. And yet...

Maybe I need to go back to the episodes to re-inspire myself. I don't know. I'll see how it goes.

My Forever Knight bathrobe arrived today. Now I just have to wait a few months to wear it. LOL Fall doesn't really begin in San Antonio until around late Oct or early Nov. And winter is basically January and February.

Yesterday it rained/stormed from a tropical storm that hit the coast. It got down to the 80's and it was refreshing. Generally, I'm feeling better (from Ozempic) since the doctor finally agreed to lower my dose. Still, I wasn't writing. However, yesterday, with the rain and the cooler temps, I ACTUALLY WROTE 2000 words! So part of the problem is evidently two months of over 100F weather plus not feeling well plus working while not feeling good and being bone tired.

I decided I'm not doing episodes 11, 12 AND 13. Episode 12 will be the last one (besides the epilogue). It was just dragging trying to get enough for three more episodes. So, I'm finished with the first draft of 11 and 12 is almost finished then it's go back to the beginning and edit, add, change, etc.

I took some time off from work at the end of this month (extra days around Labor Day) and I'm hoping to finish up over those days when I'm more relaxed (although it will still be around 100F).

So, yay, bathrobe and yay, fic progress.

What the title says, from Catherine Disher's ebay thing. It will come in handy the week or two of winter when I don't feel like turning up the heater. The jackets, I'd never wear since I rarely wear a jacket in the winter. The bathrobe I feel like I'd use at least some.

I think I'm feeling somewhat better. I've been writing some. Not my usual words per day but at least some. I write best outside but, since I'm in Central Texas, the heat has put a limit on that. I'm only able to write outside at two in the morning when I first wake up. I find that writing at my desk makes me feel like I'm still at work where I sit eight hours a day.

Still, it's something.

I really can't wait until fall (which sometimes doesn't arrive here until late November) when I can go out on my newly screened back porch and write while the cats play on their jungle gym. LOL

I have not been feeling well for a couple of months but it's finally worn me down. I take Ozempic for diabetes and my doctor increased my dosage to the full 2mg at the end of March.

The good: I've lost 20 pounds since I started taking it and my blood sugar is more controlled. Sometimes. Other times it goes wildly high or low for no reason (not food related).

The bad: the reason I've lost so much weight so quickly is that I can't eat. They tell you that it slows digestion and the emptying of the stomach, leaving you full longer and cutting down on the "food noise". The "nausea" is supposed to only last a few weeks as your body adjusts. Mine is constant after two months. Plus hunger headaches are pretty constant. I switched to eating tiny amounts and snacks (like breakfast is half a small container of yogurt, snack is half-palm full of nuts, lunch is a boiled egg, dinner is a cup of salad). It doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat, it mostly comes back up, sometimes immediately, sometimes after a few hours. The things recommended to eat on Ozempic are things diabetics shouldn't eat (crackers, bread, potatoes, etc).

All I want to do is sleep. So, I work and sleep and minimally take care of the house and cats. Every time I sit down to write, I can only focus on not throwing up.

The doctor keeps saying "give it more time". I guess he wants me malnourished before he changes anything. Hopefully, he'll switch it back to the lower dose and I'll go back on insulin which causes weight gain but I was never THAT overweight, maybe 20 or 30 pounds.

Anyway, just an update on me. And if anyone has experience with the full dose of Ozempic and/or has any tips on managing nausea, I'd be happy to hear it.

Misha Collins-YAY!

Everything else... meh.

Once again, a bunch of teenagers running around, getting into trouble. Wonderful sets and cinematography. I'll probably watch more for Misha but, overall... meh.

FINALLY!

Finally finished and posted Last Chapter.

I'm about 1/4 way through episode 5. And, episode 6 is already in the notes and planning stages. I think it's pretty dark and probably ep 7 will continue the darkness before they emerge, somewhat changed, but back to 'normal'.

YAY
erebusbeck: (Default)
I just finished episode 4 of my season 4. I don't have a name for it yet and it needs to marinate a few days before I go back and edit and post. The police case in episode 4 is based on something I saw on one of my true crime shows. About 25% of it really happened but, of course, I had to make it convoluted for the story so that it would be a challenge for Nick and Tracy.

I also managed a big chunk of the Last Chapter. I have about a chapter and half to go. YAY! Apparently, I was just burned out on it but I think I'm back in the groove.

I've started researching a case for episode 5 but I'm not sure I want to go there yet. Maybe, instead, something related to something I briefly set up in episode 4. I'll see how I feel once I start writing episode 5.

After episode 5, it will turn a little dark. Probably. I haven't 100% decided yet but I think, yes, we're going to the dark side for a few episodes.

I bought a coat from Burlington Coat Factory before we went on vacation to Ireland. I think I wore it twice while there. In Texas, I rarely wear the coat except for, maybe, 10 days a year (not in a row) when it's really cold. We're currently in that 'really cold' phase. I pulled the coat out and have been wearing it whenever I go outside to feed the feral cats or get the mail or pick up a prescription. Tonight, the zipper broke! I've only had it for 23 years! LOL

We went to Ireland in 1999.

If you hadn't guessed, this was a joke complaint.

I was kinda blah about writing for a couple of weeks. I'm back at it. I posted the first story in MY season 4. It will be more like the show, police cases, flashbacks (starting with the 2nd episode), some interpersonal stuff between the characters and not everything wrapped up neatly. Meaning, like what did lacroix do in those hours, what charges were filed, etc.
I'm using google maps as Toronto is NOW so don't tell me "that street didn't exist then" or "those apartments weren't built yet". Probably nobody will but I have seen comments like that on stories in other fandoms.

Episode 2 is already written and just needs to be edited. I usually let it lie for a few days before I do that. Episode 3 has already been started.
erebusbeck: (Threesome)
I'm re-watching Once A Thief. I'm at the ep that has Lacroix, Schanke, and Screed, and the guy who was one of the scientists in the ep, A More Permanent Hell (he was Death in Supernatural). It's old-home week I guess. And Nigel and Kapelos are hamming it up. I love it.

I described Once A Thief to a friend in Brazil as "two hot guys, an asian chick and a dominatrix" and he asked if it was a porno. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I guess it could be in fanfiction.

Edited to add: EVEN THE CADDY MAKES AN APPEARANCE. They did a Forever Knight reunion on purpose I think. Although I'm not sure if it was the same year as Nick's car, it was clearly meant to be.

Edited again: In the very next episode is Serena from Baby Baby.
I guess all the Canadian shows get incestuous because a lot of the same people are in due South and PSI Factor and other Canadian shows.
erebusbeck: (Threesome)
Merry Wives of Windsor------HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Totally played to his strength as a hammy jokester. I usually don't like Shakespeare's comedies but they did this one pretty well.
erebusbeck: (Nick/Lacroix 1)
I found some of Ger's Stratford Festival plays on amazon (Broadway HD subscription channel). I'm watching Antony and Cleopatra right now. It's nice to see him in something he obviously loves to do. Like usual when I watch Shakespeare, the first 15 minutes, I can't understand what the hell they're talking about. Then, gradually, I start getting into the weird rhythm and often repetitiveness of the speech and finally start understanding. I really, really don't understand how they can remember their lines.

I watched "The Family" with Nigel Bennett and I was right, not for me but Nigel was good. And suitably creepy. I watched all his episodes of the Border and am now watching his episodes from Psy Factor (eye-roll, really Dan Akroyd? REALLY, pretending it's real?). I'm really enjoying Matt Frewer. He's, I think, unintentionally hilarious to me. I keep expecting him to glitch like Max Headroom or start running around like the Trash Can Man. The facial expressions he gets sometimes. I think next I'm going to rewatch Lexx and see how I feel about it now, 20 years after I watched it the first time.

No real progress on the last FK fic in the series. I don't know what the blockage is. So I started something new. Kinda a season 4 if Last Knight never happened. And it doesn't go too far off the rails.

This is not associated with any of my other works. A quick little Christmas story.

This is what I've been doing instead of writing my Forever Knight story:

https://archiveofourown.org/works/43739973

Just a bit of silliness I thought of one night when I was falling asleep. Yes, my brain is weird.
erebusbeck: (Threesome)
I'm finally making some progress on Last Chapter. FINALLY. So maybe I will finish before Christmas break so I can work on something else during my time off. Maybe. I still have to go back and edit and add and change after I finish.

I'm on chapter 10 and I think there will be 12 or 13 chapters. My chapters tend to go along with my attention span (which is about 1500 to 2000 words each) so not much more to go. I've enjoyed writing the series. I had no idea where it would go when I started it. But now, I'm ready to focus on other parts of the show. And other shows. A little. I'm still obsessed with Forever Knight. Or re-obsessed?

I would still like to try Black Harbour but I can't find it anywhere. From the description, it doesn't sound like my kind of show but still... I do wonder why they gatekeep certain shows so hard. Was it not very popular? Too popular? Was there music that they have to get the rights to again?

I have Nigel's latest movie, The Family, in my Amazon queue. It looks creepy but, again, not my kind of movie but Nigel... so...
erebusbeck: (Capt Jack)
So, I've been binging Torchwood. I re-watched it once since it originally aired and that was several years ago. And I just watched part 4 of Children of Earth and WAAAAAA NOOOOO IANTO!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I guess I trauma-blocked it out but I had really forgotten it happened. Except in my world, it did not happen nope I'm trauma-blocking it again. Ianto and Jack are off somewhere frolicking.

MIA

erebusbeck: (Nick/Lacroix 1)
I have been MIA for a bit. End of the year busyness at work plus I CRACKED A TOOTH! Of course, I did. Because it's me. If it's not one thing, it's another. It happened on the 2nd and I couldn't get in to see the dentist until the 7th so I was in extreme pain for a week. I assumed they would pull it right then but nope. They can't pull it until the 21st! So 20 days I'll have this pain because everyone is using their medical benefits at the end of the year since they've met their deductible. (well, so am I so I shouldn't complain) On the bright side, maybe I'll be out of pain for my days off for Christmas (which I'm not doing anything for except writing and cleaning).

I have been writing here and there, even on my FK fic (yay!). I have a few challenges to post on Fandomweekly after I edit them. I wrote another Post-ep story I need to edit. I want to be finished with the series fic before Christmas so I can start (or finish) something else. We will see if that happens.

It's Due South since the challenge is Innocence and I couldn't think of anything having to do with any other characters I normally write about.

It was a fun challenge.
