SearchGPT is a prototype search engine developed by OpenAI, it launched on 26 July, 2024. It combines traditional search engine features with generative AI capabilities.[1][2] The search feature positions the company as a direct competitor to major search engines, notably Google and Bing, the latter being a product of OpenAI’s largest investor, Microsoft.[3] SearchGPT was first introduced as a prototype in a limited release to 10,000 test users. OpenAI ultimately intends to incorporate the search features into ChatGPT.[4]
