in my mind palace this happened sometime in nates insurance years where some stupid rogue stole or destroyed something owned by the Wayne trust or whatever and bruce had to put out an insurance claim because even though he dgaf about that thing people would think that he sold it himself and was too scared he’d be caught to try and double dip. So he made a claim and they sent nate out and nate was IMMEDIATELY suspicious that it was Bruce Actual Fucking Wayne he was talking to because usually this shit is handled by some employee of someone elses employee in cases with people this rich and he has to fight to talk to anyone else and so hes IMMEDIATELY convinced bruce stole it and is trying to double dip because Why Else Would He Be This Weird. meanwhile bruce is both being brucie and enjoying nates weird mind games bc he finds this guys closure rate fascinating like this guy is a fr detective without being a stupid cop thats kind of hot and is wondering if he can actually get his insurance guy to sleep with him and they spend a fun (in bruces opinion) and frustrating (in nates opinion) day together and bruce strikes out on getting laid and nate strikes out on getting evidence and bruce wayne has been nates white whale ever since. Nate is not and has never been aware that their afternoon of double speak was bruce flirting with him and lived happily within that bliss until sophie was like

I love how whenever ATLA recognizes Sokka is smart enough to solve a problem but it’d be too fast they just stick him in some kind of situation. Like he COULD’VE stopped jet from drowning a town so they tied him up and dumped him in a forest. He COULD’VE figured out what that spirits deal was so they lost him in the spirit world for 24 hours.
One time they just stuck him in a hole in the ground for a whole episode.
This is how writers should deal with characters who are too smart for the arc instead of making them suddenly dumber for no apparent reason.
If you frequently find yourself in random situations while your friends happen to be experiencing problems maybe you, too, are too smart for the narrative.
